Chapter 10
3RD PERSON POV (After Krista followed Erik)
"Krista! Krista!" Philippe shouted as he banged on the door.
He took a few steps and he was ready to kick down the door until Madame Giry stopped him, "Monsieur De Changy, what do you think you're doing?"
"Krista's in trouble! I can hear someone's voice in there and the door's locked," Philippe told her and he was hoping that Madame Giry was going to open the door for him but, she didn't.
"She's fine."
"What? Madame Giry, is there something you're not telling me?" He asked with a frown.
"All you need to know that Krista is okay. Now go, you don't want to keep your brother and Christine waiting," Madame Giry told Philippe as she shooed him away.
"But Krista..."
"She'll be okay. She's tired from today's performance. Let her rest and if anything happens, you will be the first person to know," Madame Giry told him.
"Fine...tell me as soon as she's back," Philippe told her as he walked away with a small frown on his face.
Once she made sure that he's gone, Madame Giry unlocked the doors and opened them to see the candles have gone out and Krista is no where in sight. She looked at the mirror and hopes that Erik takes good care of her and that she's safe.
Meanwhile, Philippe made his way to the entrance hall and Christine was surprised to see that Philippe has come alone and no Krista in sight.
"Where's Krista? I thought she was joining us?" Christine asked.
"I thought that as well but, she wants to rest for tonight," Philippe spoke disappointingly.
"Really? well, considering the fact that she hasn't been on stage for the last 5 years is no surprise," Christine commented.
"I guess you're right. I'll speak to her tomorrow," Philippe spoke with a little hope in his voice but little does he know.
After the three of them left, Meg went to look for Krista to see if she was all right only to find the Prima Donna room dark and empty.
"Krista? Krista?" Meg called out softly.
Meg looked around and she found the rose on the make-up table. Meg picked it up and looked at it for a second until she felt a cold breeze hit her face. She puts down the rose and walked towards the mirror to see that it has been left open slightly. She walked towards the mirror and placed her hand on the mirror to slide it open and she gasped in surprise to see a secret passage way. She dropped the rose and being the curious child she is, she walked through the passageway without even thinking about the danger.
As Meg walked through the passage way, she was wondering if Krista went this way but, as she continued to walk through the dark hallways, she started to get a little nervous. She felt something touched her foot and that made her jump. Turns out it was just some rats that were scurrying in the hallways. She tried to ignore them as she continued to walk through the hallway but, suddenly she felt someone grabbed her shoulder. Meg screamed in fear but, it was just her mother.
"Mama, what are you-"
"Come with me right now," She spoke with a frown.
She dragged meg out of the passageway and she slid the mirror shut. Meg looked at her mother and asked, "Mother, how did you know where I was and where does that lead to?"
"We will talk about this later, now come on. You need some sleep," Madame Giry told her as they headed back to the ballerina dormitories only to find that pervert Joseph Bauqet in the room.
He always finds a way to sneak into the dormitories to either flirt or scare them. Tonight, he decided to tell the girls about the Phantom of the Opera that he claimed to have seen in the rafters. He had a blanket with him and he made a growling sound which made the girls jump and squeal and giggle. Meg and Madame Giry got there and they were disgusted.
"Like yellow parchment is his skin...A great black hole served as the nose that never grew...you must be always on your guard, or he will catch you with magical lasso," Joseph sang while holding a noose that was made from some rope he found.
As one of the girls tried to get passed him he wrapped the lasso around her and pulled her against him. The girl gasped but she still giggled. Meg looked disgusted when she saw Joseph grinning and playfully growled while pretending to go after the girl's neck. Madame giry had enough so she pulled the girl away from the dirty pervert.
"Those who speak of what they know find, too late, that prudent silence is wise," Madame Giry sang as she gathered the lasso that Joseph dropped before turning to face him with a glare.
"Joseph Buquet hold your tounge," She sang before slapping him across the cheek and wrapping the lasso around his neck. "Kee your hand at the level of your eyes!"
She quickly slid the noose up, but Buquet managed to stop it in time before it choked him. Madame Giry shooed him out of the dormitories before sending the girls to bed.

The next day...
KRISTA'S POV
Dreamworld...
I was auditioning for the role for Christine for Phantom of the Opera. Charlotte glared at me from the sidelines as I sang Think of me. Once I finished singing the judges and director clapped at my performance.
"Merci! Merci!" I spoke in French as I smiled.
"That was amazing, Miss Lynch!"
"I could listen to you sing all day!"
The judges and director spoke with happy smiles. I could feel that screaming Monkey's glare from here. I took a bow before leaving the stage. While waiting for results, I could hear Charlotte's singing from here. I don't even know why she even tries to audition the good roles for certain musicals when she can't even sing.
"You did an amazing job sweetie," I heard Mum speak as she apporached me with a smile.
"Merci Mere," I spoke with a smile.
"Do you think I'm good enough for the role?"
"Oh sweetie, of course I do. If anyone who deserves to have that role, its you. As for that Charlotte, I don't even know why she even tries. Her daddy must be tone deaf," Mum whispered quietly which made me laugh.
After a while, the results are in. I searched for my name and I found it. I smiled brightly when I saw the tag that said "Christine Daae - Krista Lynch".
"Yes! yes! Yes! I got the role!" I cheered and then Amy, who got the role of Meg, ran over and hugged me tightly.
"Welcome done, buddy! I knew you could do it!"
Charlotte stormed over and she searched for her name and it wasn't there and I know the reason why.
"What?! that's not fair! that role should've been mine!" Charlotte shouted in anger before the director came in and he looked at me with a smile.
"You deserve that role, Krista. Your performance was brilliant but, as for you Charlotte," The director spoke as he looked at her up and down.
"Your singing is terrible. You even tried to bribe me. I am not stupid enough to let you have that role. Do me a favour and get a singing coach."
Amy and I held back our laughs before Charlotte started sobbing and then she ran out of the room. We started laughing and then mum came over and she ruffled my hair.
"I'm so proud of you sweetie," I spoke with a smile and I smiled back before I hugged her tightly.
Dream ends...
"Mere..." I mumbled in my sleep as a lone tear fell out my eye as I slowly woke up.
I opened my eyes to find myself in an unfamiliar room. I slowly sat up and then last night's events came back to me. Philippe, Erik, singing that duet song....I'm in his hair lair! I heard the sound of a music box playing and it sounds like its Masquerade. I pulled the cord next to me and then the lacy curtain rose up.
"Meow..."
I heard something before a Siamese cat jumped onto the bed and then it walked along the covers before climbing onto my lap. It rubbed its head against my chest and then I smiled at it.
"Hi...where did you come from?" I asked as I gently petted the cat's head before it purred happily. It then hit me, this cat is Erik's cat, Ayesha. She's not seen in the movies but, she was mentioned in Susan Kay's version of Phantom of the Opera. I wasn't expecting her to be here as well.
"Ayesha..." I whispered her name before she meowed at me and then she continued to rub her head against my chest.
"Aww, you're so cute," I spoke with a smile before I heard the organ playing softly. I looked in the direction where it was coming from before I moved Ayesha off my lap and then I got off the bed.
I knew the next part is where Christine is supposed to take off Erik's mask and then he gets angry afterwards. After remembering this, I decided not to do it but, I wonder if the plot will change if I don't do this. Only one way to find out.
I fixed my robe and my hair so I was a little more presentable after sleeping for so long. Ayesha rubbed her side against my legs before I crouched down and picked her up from the ground.
"Come on, let's go and see Erik," I spoke softly as I left the room with Ayesha in my arms. I saw Erik sitting at his organ and he's playing a soft melody before he stopped and wrote something on a sheet of paper. I took a deep breath before I approached Erik and stood behind him. I cleared my throat and then he turned around to look at me and then he smiled at me.
"Good Morning," he spoke softly.
"Good morning, sir," I replied back before Ayesha meowed and struggled out of my arms and then she ran up to Erik and sat on his lap.
"Ah, I see you've met Ayesha."
"Yeah, she came to greet me after I woke up," I told him before looking away shyly. I don't know what was wrong with me, for some reason I felt like a highschool girl who has met her crush.
"Did you sleep okay?" Erik asked.
"Uh, yes, very well," I said as I glanced down at my slippers before I saw a pair of black boots approach me. I felt Erik's fingers on my chin and then he made me look at him.
"What's wrong, Krista?"
"Oh its nothing...just a dream I had...about my mother..." I spoke sadly as I looked away from him.
"Krista...you know you're safe here, right?" Erik asked.
"I know...if you don't mind me asking, what are you working on?" I asked as I looked at the sheets of paper that he was working on.
"Its a melody that I just came up with."
"It's beautiful," I spoke softly before turning to look at him again.
"Thank you."
'Wow...he's so handsome...I can see why some of the girls are in love with him from the movie...' I thought to myself with a small smile.
We stared at each other for a few moments before I slowly and carefully placed my hands on his cheeks. Erik's eyes widen and then he leans into my touch like he's never been caressed like this before. I guess he never did, according to the books, his own mother never loved him. Erik closed his eyes and he continued to lean into my touch as I caressed his cheeks.
"So...you're not an angel," I spoke while trying to play dumb since I didn't want him knowing that I know who he is.
"No...I am not..." Erik spoke softly as my thumb made its way to the edge of his mask. I was about to follow the plot until he suddenly grabbed my wrist.
"What are you doing?" Erik asked with a frown.
"Oh, sorry...got carried away," I quickly apologised with a hint of fear in my eyes. Erik frowned at me and his grip on my wrist tightened.
"Please forgive me. I didn't meant to," I spoke softly and then he sighed before releasing my wrist.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean grab you like that. But, you must not see my face."
"Can I ask why?" I asked him while rubbing my wrist.
"Its something that not even an angel like you should never see," Erik spoke without looking at me.
"All right, I won't pry," I told him before I got in front of him again.
"So...do you have a name?" I asked while trying to change the subject and lighten the mood.
"Erik, my name is Erik," Erik told me with a small smile.
"Erik," I spoke his name softly which made him smile at me and then he stroked my cheek. I closed my eyes and leaned into his touch.
ERIK'S POV
I can't believe she's finally here. My angel of music, Krista. A few months ago, I used to think Christine was the one until I heard Krista singing one night. Sure she has an amazing voice but, it needed some training and she has done well. Her voice is amazing and she's amazing. I have been trying to help Christine but, lately, I can't seem to get her off my mind and even now. I knew I had to bring Krista here and even though she tried to see my face, she apologised immediately. She's different compared to Christine.
"Krista, are you angry?"
"For what?"
"For deceiving you? for pretending to be angel of music to help you?" I asked her but she continued to smile at me and then she placed her hand on top of mine.
"I'm not angry, why would I be? In fact, I should be thanking you. If you hadn't given me those lessons, I wouldn't have been able to sing on stage again," She told me while holding my other hand. I smiled back at her and then I led her to the organ so she was standing next to it.
"Speaking of which, we should get back to it," I told her before I sat down on the stool.
"So what am I rehearsing this time? something you created?" She asked with a curious look.
"That's right, its called II Muto."
"What's it about?" She asked as she looked at the music sheets that I have all set up.
"Its about a countess having an affair with the pageboy. The role that you're rehearsing is the countess," I explained to her and then I gave her some sheets of paper for her to look over. Our fingers touched when she took the sheets from me but, she didn't mind.
"Read that carefully because even though that you know who I am, I'm still strict with you," I spoke with a smirk and she giggled.
"Yes sir," She smiled before she read it over. This is perfect, Krista, my angel of music, accepts me and she still wants to continue with our lessons.
