Alternate Ending: The Plan

Rachel's POV

"How did you get here," I asked my other friend from the real world.

"I have absolutely no idea," Adam answered, "I just closed my eyes and then I was here. I heard you sing and I decided I needed to talk to you."

"What happened to me?" I wondered aloud.

"You're laid up in a medically induced coma for your large hit with a mirror."

"Makes sense," I nod my head then look around, "We should probably talk somewhere else, who knows who'll be listening."

Adam nodded, understanding exactly what I meant. We went to the dressing room and I soundproofed it to make sure no one could hear.

"So we're in the musical?" Adam asked and I nodded.

"Yes," I answered, "We are and we're right before Don Juan Triumphant."

"Okay then," Adam nodded, "Now give me a rundown on what you've changed, so we can prevent the final scene, because knowing how much has been affected can prevent how bad the turnout could be."

"Agreed," I nodded my head in agreement then gave the whole rundown on what's happened so far, "Now your plan is?"

"Alright, so let's throw the whole ship off course," Adam stated, "After, 'Point of No Return,' just give a signal and we'll be right there with you."

"We?" I asked. Then there was a knock at my door. I opened it to reveal the whole dance team.

"All of you are here?" I ask them.

"Well yeah," one of the girls nodded, "We're all in this together."

"Alright, so you guys, fill me in," I tell them and they explain to me their plan.

Heh not telling ya, you need to continue reading.

Time Skip

"I'm ready for this," I look into the dressing room mirror and adjust the costume so, it's ready to go. I pinned my hair in a half up half down look and there was a knock at my door. I opened it and there Adam was.

"You ready?" he asked me.

"As ready as I'll ever be," I answered. He took my hand and escorted me to the wings of the stage. I watched the performance from the wings.

"Here the sire may serve the dam," the chorus begins to sing in one clump, "Here the master takes his meat!
Here the sacrificial lamb
Utters one despairing bleat!"
Then Carlotta joined the chorus members. Desperate to be heard, she sings many octaves higher than written, as well as more exaggerated. Well some things just will never change.

"Poor young maiden! For the thrill
On your tongue of stolen sweets
You will have to pay the bill
Tangled in the winding sheets!"
They crossed across the stage and continued to sing.
"Serve the meal and serve the maid!
Serve the master so that, when
Tables, plans and maids are laid
Don Juan triumphs once again!"
Piangi enters as Don Juan from behind the arch. Meg, who's portraying a gypsy dancer, pirouettes coquettishly for him. He throws her a purse. She catches it and dances with two other girls before exiting off stage.

"Passarino, faithful friend
Once again, recite the plan," Piangi sang to the actor that plays Passarino.

"Your young guest believes I'm you
I, the master; you, the man," Passarino sang the monologue.

"When you met, you wore my cloak
With my scarf, you hid your face
She believes she dines with me
In her master's borrowed place!
Furtively, we'll scoff and quaff
Stealing what, in truth, is mine
When it's late and modesty
Starts to mellow, with the wine," Piangi sings.

"You come home! I use your voice
Slam the door like crack of doom!" Passarino nods as he sings.

"I shall say, "Come, hide with me! Where, oh, where? Of course—my room!"" Piangi sings.

"Poor thing hasn't got a chance!" Passarino scoffs.

"Here's my hat, my cloak and sword
Conquest is assured
If I do not forget myself and laugh," Piangi sings and laughs as he goes behind the curtain.

Although no one but me knows, Erik used a punjab lasso and Signor Piangi is no more.

I follow my cue to go on stage and begin to sing cheerfully as Aminta.

"No thoughts within her head but thoughts of joy!" I sing flouncing on the stage, I take off the shawl and place it on the bench behind me as I continue to sing, "No dreams within her heart but dreams of love!"
"Master?" Passarino asks.

"Passarino—" Erik sings from behind the curtain, "go away! For the trap is set and waits for its prey."

I grab a prop apple and sit down with a flourish. I then polish it on the skirt of my dress.

Erik enters as he appears in the 2004 movie and a chill goes down my spine. There's no going back now. I hope our plan is into place.

"You have come here in pursuit of your deepest urge," he sings as I turn to him, "In pursuit of that wish which till now has been silent
Silent," he brings a finger to his lips.

"I have brought you
That our passions may fuse and merge," I turn from him and fix my eyes on the apple, "In your mind, you've already succumbed to me
Dropped all defenses, completely succumbed to me."

I turn back to him as he is closer to me now.

"Now you are here with me
No second thoughts, you've decided," he sang before doing a cape flip that is so freaking sexy, "Decided"
I stand up from the bench, as if I were pulled to him.

"Past the point
Of no return -
No backward glances:
The games we've played
Till now are at
An end..." he takes the apple from my hand.l

"Past all thought
Of "if" or "when" -
No use resisting:
Abandon thought
And let the dream
Descend..." he reaches me fast and embraces me.

"What raging fire
Shall flood the soul?
Which rich desire
Unlocks its door?" He brushes my shoulder with his hand and trails his fingers down my arm, "What sweet seduction
Lies before
Us...?" he kisses my hand.

"Past the point
Of no return,
The final threshold -
What warm,
Unspoken secrets
Will we learn?" he sings.

"Beyond the point
Of no return..." he trails off and I hesitate before giving the signal. The rest of the girls come on stage as the music turned on. I took the costume I was wearing and ripped it off to reveal a red and black dress underneath. One of the girls handed me a mic and we got into our positions. I let down my hair and began to sing.

A/N: Don't ask me how they got things from present day to this world. This book is a work of fiction as well as a musical. Not everything has to be explained. Now, let's continue.

"It's time for me to take it
I'm the boss right now," I sing to Erik walking up to him in my black heels.
"Not gonna fake it
Not when you go down
'Cause this is my game
And you better come to play," I push his shoulder and turn my back on him.
"I used to hold my freak back
Now I'm letting go
I make my own choice
Boi, I run this show," I walk back to the girls, "So leave the lights on
No, you can't make me behave."

"So you say I'm complicated," we all sing together doing choreography, "That I must be outta my mind
But you had me underrated
Rated, rated," we transfer to the middle of the stage and start to bop our hips.

"What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?" We sang as we snap our fingers.

"What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being
What's wrong with being confident?"

At this point we changed the song and the boys came on and we started dancing.

"Third things third," Adam came joined by the boys, "Send a prayer to the ones up above
All the hate you've heard has turned your spirit into a dove oh ooh
Your spirit into a dove oh ooh."

"Tonight!" The girls sang in counterpart.

"I was choking in the crowd," Adam rapped, "Building my rain up in the cloud
Falling like ashes to the ground
Hoping my feelings, they would drown
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing."

"But you had me underrated.
Rated, rated," the girls sang.

"Inhibited, limited
'Til it broke up and it rained down
It rained down, like" the boys continued the rap.

"Pain!" Everyone sang, "You make me, you make me a believer, believer.
Pain, pain, you make me, you make me a believer, believer."

"What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being, what's wrong with being confident?" Us girls split off, "What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being, what's wrong with being confident?"

We all walked to be in a line in front of the stage, "So you say I'm complicated," we all sang together, "But you have me underrated.

We all then split off and do more choreo while singing, the girls singing in counterpart to the boys, "What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being, what's wrong with being confident? What's wrong with being, what's wrong with being, what's wrong with being confident?"

"Pain, I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from
Pain! You make me a, you make me a believer, believer!"

There were a few tentative claps. Of course this is the nineteenth century, they've never witnessed a show choir before. We paused as the music had slowed down. We all took new positions as I, as well as another girl, a freshman named Morgan had solos.

"Sometimes in our lives we all have pain, we all have sorrow," Morgan sang, "But if we are wise we all know that there's always tomorrow."

"Lean on me, when you're not strong," I sang, "I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on."

The sopranos sang in counterpart to me as I continued, "For it won't be long, 'til I'm gonna need someone to lean on."

Everyone began to sing as a full choir, "Sometimes in our lives, we all have pain, we all have sorrow
But if we are wise, we all know that there's always tomorrow."

We all look down at the floor. A few drum beats and then we face the audience head on.

"Lean on me when you're not strong," we sing as everyone changes positions with Adam, Morgan and I in the front, "I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long, 'til I need someone to lean on.

"Struggling people, searching people, hurting people, lonely people," we all sing and then Adam, Morgan and I do fouettes while the rest of the choir sings, "Looking for the help of people, people who reach out and do what they got to do."

The three of us stop spinning like a top. There was a pause in the music.

"Dawn is coming, open your eyes..." All the girls sing.

We got some applause for that one, the people in the audience finally understanding. I thought I saw a few tears being shed as well.

"Just one night, all we got, just one night, all we got, just one night all we got, just one night that's all we got." We sang crescendoing with each repeat of the line. I take the mic, again, I was the key to getting all of us out of here, so we're doing what we can.

"I ain't got time for you baby," I sang as a feather boa was handed to me, "Either you're mine, or you're not.
Make up your mind sweet baby
Right here, right now's all we got!"

We all start singing, "A little party never killed nobody, so we gon' dance until we drop.
A little party never killed nobody, right here right now's all we got!
A little party never killed nobody, so we gon' dance until we drop
A little party never killed nobody, right here right now's all we got!
Skidabadabop!"

We all dance and we're getting some cheers from the audience, we keep going strong.

"All these diamonds, trips around the world," us girls sing to our dance partners, "Don't mean a thing if I ain't your girl!"

"A little party never killed nobody, so we gon' dance until we drop!
A little party never killed nobody, right here, right now's all we got!
A little party never killed nobody, so we gon' dance until we drop!
A little party never killed nobody, right here, right now's all we got!"

"Can the people get loud, underneath the moonight?
Hotsy-totsy, paparazzi, hold it while I take this pic!" The boys sing and us girls get very sassy.

"Sweet easy, rocking the feathers I'm breezy!"

"Hope you can keep up boys," I say with a classic hair flip, "'cause believe me, I'm the bee knees."

"It don't mean a thing if I give you my heart," I sing, looking at Erik in the wings, "If you tear it apart, no uh uh ah oh!"

"It don't mean a thing if I ain't in your eyes," I sing as he looks at me with hope, "Probably ain't gonna fly, no uh uh ah oh!"

The girls start to join me, "It don't mean a thing if I give you my heart, if you tear it apart, no uh uh ah oh!"

The boys then join us as well, "It don't mean a thing if I ain't in your eyes, probably ain't gonna fly, no uh uh ah oh!"

"Just one night, all we got. Just one night, all we got. Just one night, all we got! Just one night, all we got!" We all crescendo and then pose. After the applause, us girls got off stage for the boys to do something and for me to do a costume change.

"Another day, another breath," Adam started to rap as the guys shrugged off their suits, now in casual clothes from the modern age, "They're chasing dreams, but I never slept
I got a new attitude and a lease on life
And some peace of mind
Seek and I find I can sleep when I die
Wanna piece of the pie, grab the keys to the ride
And damn I'm straight
I'm on my wave."

"I'm on my wave," the rest of the choir sings.

"Get out of my wake," he sings.

"I'm running late
What can I say?" Rest of the choir sings.

"I heard you die twice,
once when they bury you in the grave
And the second time is the last time
that someone ever mentions your name."

"So when I leave here on this Earth
Did I take more than I gave?
Did I look out for the people,
Or did I do it all for fame?" the rest of the boys joined Adam.

"Legend, it's exodus
Searching for euphoria
Trudging through the mud
To fight the present, no ignoring us
Got 20,000 deep off in the street
Like we some warriors
"My mama told me never bow your head, whoo!" Adam said as I stepped out, wearing a maroon colored tank top, black leggings, and converse.

"I feel glorious, glorious
Got a chance to start again
I was born for this, born for this
It's who I am, how could I forget?"

"I made it through the darkest part of the night," Christine sang, walking on stage in modern black dress with leather jacket with a smile, "And now I see the sunrise."

"Now I feel glorious, glorious
I feel glorious, glorious!" Everyone sang together.

"We gon' be alright, put that on my life," Adam and I sang, "When I open my eyes, I hope I see you shine.
We're planting our flag
they don't understand
The world is up for grabs."

"Hey! Hey! Hey!" Everyone on stage sang.

"We gon' be alright, put that on my life," Christine sang, "When I open my eyes, I hope I see you shine."

"We're planting a flag, they don't understand," Raoul came on too before everyone else joined in, "The world is up for grabs!"

"Okay, okay, yes I do
I said amen and hallelujah, let me testify too
Another morning, a morning, don't let myself get in my way
I got my breath, I got my faith and I remember why I came," Adam rapped as the rest of us sang.

"I feel glorious, glorious
Got a chance to start again
I was born for this, born for this
It's who I am, how could I forget?

"I made it through the darkest part of the night..."

"Things are just things," Adam rapped, "They don't make you who you are."

"And now I see the sunrise..."

"Can't pack up a U-Haul and take it with you when you're gone.
Things are just things
They don't make you who you are
Can't pack up a U-Haul..."

"Now I feel glorious, glorious..."

"...And take it with you when you're gone

"I feel glorious, glorious!"

We get a standing ovation and I turn to the wings and see Erik smile from the side. He nodded in understanding. I smile before everyone on stage comes together for a bow. When we all came back up, we were in the auditorium in the real world. I guess we found our way back after all. I look to Adam with a smile and he nods in understanding, so it wasn't a dream after all.
