The Angel And The Demon

Once, there were two girls who had never met. One was a kindhearted angel, another was a selfish demon.

They both had the same duty: to welcome any person who had passed away and arrived in their realm of the afterlife.

The Demon greeted the dead by snarling at them or giggling at their wrongdoings. She thought their sins were too mild for her taste, thinking they should have just been sent to another place. She didn't know about the realm above called 'Heaven'.

The Angel greeted the dead by smiling at them or making a silly joke to cheer them up. She thought every person had such a kind spirit. She didn't know about the realm below called 'Hell'.

One day, the two girls had a spark of curiosity. Wanting to know what other realm there was besides theirs.

Without hesitation, they went towards the boundaries of the two realms.

The Angel took one step away from her realm, she had suddenly felt so cold. It was as if ice had coated her entire leg. The more she came closer, the colder it became for her. She hadn't noticed the Demon standing beside her.

The Demon took one step away from her realm, she had suddenly felt so hot. Her realm was coated with lava, and it never fazed her. She had no clue why this was burning her. She hadn't noticed the Angel standing beside her.

They both fell back to their own realms. The Angel's leg had turned blue, and the Demon's leg had turned red with a few blisters.

They couldn't see each other.

Both of them decided not to come back to the boundary, since they knew it would only hurt them.

They continued to do so for a few thousand years. Doing their job, greeting another person almost every second.

Before she could go rest, the Angel asked God, "What is beyond the boundary?" and he answered her question, telling every detail of the realm.

Before she could go rest, the Demon asked Satan, "What is beyond the boundary?" and he answered her question, telling every detail of the realm.

The both of them wanted to go back by now, getting a little bit tired of what they were doing. Wanting to see what was beyond that boundary.

And they did exactly that. Of course, nothing had changed. They'd both suffer once they lay their foot one step away from their realm.

But they were too determined to know, and they both ran into the realms, without any care what would have happened to them.

It was too cold.

It was too hot.

She was freezing.

She was burning.

They turned around, and saw each other for the first time, and the last time.

The Angel smiled as she had frozen and cracked, breaking into a million pieces.

The Demon frowned as she was burnt to ashes, being carried by the wind.

They couldn't see what was beyond the boundary. They couldn't see what they wanted.

They could only see each other. They
could only see what they needed.

Once, there were two girls who had never met.
