Part Four

Daniel stretched his arms above his head and let out a yawn. I covered my chest with the sheet. He rolled over to look at me and frowned.

"What are you doing, babe?"

I blinked and fanned my face.

"Precisely," he pulled the sheet out of my hand and I squealed. "It's too hot in here for you to cover up, and it's been too long since I've seen all of you. All of you for all of me."

I grimaced and covered my face and chest with my arms and hands. He wouldn't let me do it.

"Stop that," he demanded. "I don't know what you're making a fuss over."

He had my hands pinned up above my head.

"Cindy, Cindy, Cindy," he shook his head and his hair fell over my face. "What am I going to do with you?"

A large smile washed over my face. He used to say that to me in the past whenever my insecurities got too human for him.

Daniel loved me for me. He had no expectations. He did not want to change me. He wasn't saying he loved me in hopes that one day I would become a better cook or be more organized or want to learn the guitar.

No. He loved me unconditionally. Only love and commitment were at the back of his mind. He knew what ulterior motives were but he would never be able to possess one. It was simply not in his nature. Or science.

"I don't hear Rex rummaging around downstairs, do you?"

I felt so hot with embarrassment, so bare before him in the light. He just winked at me and waited for my answer.

"No. Aren't you the one with supersonic hearing or something?"

"Ah, yes, I am built to impress and ... satisfy."

Aurora did not skimp on his confidence. Not one bit.

He propped his head up onto his folded pillow and the sun placed a halo of light above the crown of his hair. "I did satisfy you, right?"

I sat straight up in bed and answered him. "Beyond measure."

The only insecurities he carried around were ones concerning my well-being. My happiness. My pleasure. My health.

His eyes searched mine. "So... can we do what we did last night again?"

An impish grin spread on his face. I could not suppress another squeal. Daniel kissed me along my neck and breathed into my ear and I thought about Rex.

Rex said I needed this just as much as he did. I was starting to understand him, though at first I was not thrilled with his twisted logic.

With every kiss I was swept up in the heavy current of my Synthetic, and I did not want to swim back to shore anytime soon.

Sometimes men needed to be more careful what they wished for.
