"So much for prom," Vivian grumbled as she plopped down onto the grass in frustration. Her heart was beating ninety to nothing and her gut was weighted down in embarrassment. At the begining of the night, she felt quite beautiful, wearing a beautiful green dress with her hair done up in an extravagant bun. She wore light makeup but her lips were as red as the rose.

The ballroom was still lively adn lit up. Sh ecoiuld hear the laughing anf they music. Vivian wish so dearly that she could still be in ther ehaving a goo dtime. BUt no, she was here on the gross doing her best to hold back tears.

She stayed theory were f a long time as well, thinkning that maybe Bill woud followe her out her and aplogize, but no. As soon as hse had given up on all hop, Vivain sdesiced shew oudl walk herself home. As she struggled to her feet, she looked up to see Bucky leaving the ballroom with his hands in his pockets and a disappointed expression that Vivian was to frustrated to notice was exaggerated.

Now there was someone Vivina wished she could go to prom with. He was someone she wished she could do everything with. Almost as if he was looking fo there to be out her, his eyes met heres immediately upon him looking up. He hurried over to where Viviandecided to plop down onto the grass again.

"What's got a fine dime like you so mopey tonight?" asked Bucky, sitting down next to her. She could not help but get butterflies. She made him so excited and nervous all at he same time.. Vivian had noticed earlier that he was wearing quite a handsome suit. She was just disappointed that it matched aCatherine's dress. His hair was fixed as it always was: perfect. His blue eyes sparkled with affection, though Vivian would never notice such a thing.

"My date isn't all too interested in me. He's got his sights set on some filled out freshman," her down-hearted voice revealed, still annoyed by her date's behavior.

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, Catherine ran off with someone from the neighboring school because I wouldn't say yes to being an item," he compared, a smirk appearing on his masculine face. He knew something that she didnt.

"We found some lousy dates, didn't we," she chuckled looking awkwardly down at her wringing hands.

"I don't believe we did. I think the two of us have spectacular dates," he said happily.

She grinned and raised an eyebrow, curious to see where this was going "And what's that supposed to mean?"

He stood up, chest puffed out and proud. "I think we should go back there together. No way we should miss our last prom due to people who did us wrong," he suggested, holding out his hand. The offer was really tempting. "Besides, Viv. It's about time I taught you to dance."

Vivian frowned. Every word Bucky directed at her was likea drug. She wanted him to keep teasing her. "I do know how to dance, Mr. Barnes," she said, crossed her arms.

He laughed at her. "Youve have yet to swing with me, doll. You odn tknow what youre in for." He moved his hand in closer to her.

"Flirting with me doesn't work," she protested, taking his hand and letting him pull her to her feet.

As they were walking back to the ballroom, Bucky wrapped his hand around Vivian's waist. The move sent shivers down her spine and she wish he could touch her all the time. "I've got a feeling it does."

Vivian knew she was visibly blushing. And she knew Bucky had seen it.

"Viv?" he asked, moving his hand from her waist to her hand, stopping their journey back to the dance.

"Yes, Bucky?" she asked, smiling at the very fact he was there with her.

"W-what if I told you something crazy..." he trailed off, not knowing what exactly to say.

"What?" asked Vivian, raising her eyebrow. Bucky sighed and stroked her cheek with his thumb.

"I have seen alot of girls. Never more than once. And that's cause I believe in something," he started, moving in closer to her face. She looked up at him, into his eyes, heart pounding. She was so apprehensive of what he may say.

"What do you believe Bucky?"

"I am a sure man, VIvian. I know what I want. I know what I need. I am not indecisive in the least," he rambled. Vivian listened with open ears. "I need two hours with a women to know if shes the one for me."

He stopped talking. Vivain waited form his to continue, but he seemed to short out. "And?" she prodded.

"And I only needed five minutes with you. I'm pretty sure I am in love with you, Vivian Gertrude. I know we're young. I know I have only know you for a little bit. I know not everyone is th esame as me in knowing what hey want and i should have given you time but--"

"Shh," Vivian said with a giggle as she pressed a finger against his lips.

"So no?" he asked, overcome with disappointment, dropping his hands to his side.

"It's not strange to love me," Vivian assured.

"How do you know?"

She smiled and began to tear up. She had wished to say this for a very long time. "Bucky, dear," she said, placing her hand on his cheek. "I love you too."

His eyes brightened up as much as Vivian's. This was the best this night could have gotten. How could it get any better.

"May I kiss you, Vivian Gertude?" he asked politely, looking longingly into her hazel eyes.

Vivian smiled again, this time even bigger. "I would love that."
