Chapter 15 [Gwen]
Once I finally relaxed, I reported to the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents what I had found out. At least they were considerate enough to give Bunlei and me some privacy.
After I left, I couldn't get a thought out of my mind. Bunlei had asked me interesting questions about S.H.I.E.L.D. Perhaps he knew something that I didn't...something very important.
"Gwen!" I turned to face Peter, who seemed to have just slipped out of a hospital room. I hadn't realized that I had roamed to that section of the facility, having been lost in thought.
"Hi! Peter," I said, giving him a hug. He placed a hand across my abdomen and smiled. I smiled back.
"How have you been?"
I explained what just happened. Peter's expression changed from shocked to concerned to mysterious.
"Nick is always hiding things," he said. "And, about Bunlei choosing me...I was beginning to think I was special. That he had a crush on me or something."
I slapped his shoulder, and he laughed, leaping backward on his feet. He appeared perfectly healed; he probably was, given that he had healing abilities.
"A Frost Giant, huh? We should talk to Thor and see what he thinks."
Without saying another word, we headed to Thor's room. I tapped on the door, and there was a shuffle. A moment later, the door opened, revealing Thor's face.
"Hey. Gwen." He raised an eyebrow, and opened the door further. "And Peter. Welcome back." Peter nodded.
"We...uh...have to talk to you about something," I said. He motioned inside, and we followed him in.
The door closed, and we all sat on one of his couches. I saw a photo of Jane on the coffee table. He must've been sad to be at S.H.I.E.L.D. away from her for so long. I was lucky to be with Peter, but, knowing Nick, he could send me back home any minute since Peter had been found.
"What do you need?" Thor asked.
"This might be a touchy subject for you, and we're sorry..." I bit my lip. "But...Loki was a Frost Giant, right?"
Thor pursed his lips, nodding.
"Well, um..."
"Bunlei said that a Frost Giant can keep him from using his powers, but they're all extinct," Peter finished. I looked at him gratefully.
Thor leaned back, bringing his fist up to his chin. "I see."
"Do you have any ideas?" I said hopefully.
"I can speak with my father and see what he thinks. Have you spoken to Nick?"
"Sort of." I frowned. "He knows about Bunlei's Frost Giant claim, but not about us speaking with you."
Thor nodded. "Don't tell him I'm gone." Thor picked up his hammer, which had been sitting beside his framed photo of Jane, then began to walk out.
"Do you want anyone to come with you?" Peter asked.
Thor paused for a moment, thinking. "You can come if you'd like. I guess you won't be the first mortals in Asgard." He smirked.
"All right," I said, nodding. Peter looked at me, raised an eyebrow, then took my hand.
"Very well," Thor said. We headed out to his balcony (his room was the only one with a balcony). Still holding my hand, Peter placed a hand on Thor's shoulder, and then the Norse god lifted his hammer to the sky.
And then we were flying.
