Cows Can Float

Peter loved listening to the wacky and cool stories the Avengers talked about. Thor's stories were hilarious, since the norse god always spoke like someone from shakespeare. Captain Rogers had interesting stories too, and Peter found them interesting and sometimes funny, since they mostly took place before his time. Heck, before Mr. Stark's time. The more recent stories tended to be more funny, since they usually involved the Captain figuring out modern technology. Mr. Stark's stories were ok. The beginnings were the best part, since after the first few sentences, the story drifted to how much of a genius the genius was. Peter had no right denying the billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist statement, but Dr. Banner always commented about how wrong he way. Dr. Banner never talked much, since he never remembered his Hulk stories, but still shared his journey around the world and before the accident. The hardest stories to get were Nat's. Nat was always distant. No one, not even S.H.I.E.L.D before they fell apart knew much about the highly trained assassin.

Nat automatically took a liking to the young kid, but it took her a while to admit it. She took it upon herself the train Peter, and Peter took it upon himself to get her more social. His task was harder than hers, believe it or not. He spent long lengths of time trying to befriend the female warrior, before he got a little story out of her. Nat was, in all honesty, nervous about what the others would think of her if they knew her background. Clint was the only one that knew much about her. He knew she was raised in the Red Room, a place in Russia where they
trained little girls at the age of 10 how to kill someone. He knew she excelled. But that was it. Bruce knew that she was sterilized, but that was it. Peter was the one she trusted to hold her secret. She told him about it, and he spoke nothing more of it. He, to her surprise, didn't avoid her either. He didn't try to avoid eye contact, and didn't even look at her with disgust or anything. If anything, he looked at her with more love.

Nat soon told more stories about her time working for S.H.I.E.L.D. She told them about covers she took and the crazy people she met. Peter had heard everyone's version of the Attack On

New York back when he was just a little kid, but Nat's had him asking a question. The assassin had been trained to remember everything, just so she could predict what her possible enemies

actions would be like and how to counter them. She never dropped this habit, and told Peter every detail about her fight. When she finished, he sheepishly raised his hand.

"Nat?"

"Ya Pete?"

"What happened in Budapest?"

“Hmm, well our mission was to find out why so many cows were going missing.”

“Why was shield investigating missing cows? And why were you on the case.”

Clint took the wheel for this part. “Well, before the last members came onto the World Security Council that looked over S.H.I.E.L.D, there were many more people than just four. There were at least a dozen, and one was from Hungary. He was arguing about how cows were missing. No one paid attention, since they were just cows, but when he began say that his army soldiers went missing when investigating, that caught Nick’s attention.”

“He sent some low level S.H.I.E.L.D agents, none returned. Slightly higher level. Nothing. He sent groups of ten, none came back. He sent one solo man. Nothing. It went like this for a while, until he assigned Clint and I to the case. We were looking into the areas where the farmers were reporting their disappearing cows, and found nothing peculiar. No broken fences. No burned grass. Nothing pointed to how the cows could have left. So I started doing some background research. I found out that in the past thirty years, two hundred thirty six famers quit their jobs at three locations.”

“The locations formed a triangle on a map!” Clint exclaimed. Nat rolled her eyes, and Clint gave her a dead serious look before saying, “I was ninety nine percent sure the illuminati were behind it.”

“He was wrong.”

“Shut up Nat.”

“Anyways,” the redhead spoke, now standing in front of the group, “I decided to question these people. They told me they would hear strange noises, and they were paranoid whenever on the property. So Clint and I decided to stay on one of these farms for a few days.”

“God it was creepy.  In the middle of the night you would hear chickens, and the houses always creaked. I hate farms.”

“Then why do you live on one?” Tony asked this question. He had been pretending to sleep, but was obviously listening. Clint was about to reply when Peter squealed and fell from the ceiling.

“You live on a farm!” The teen quickly scrambled off the floor, excitement shining in his eyes. “I have always wanted to be on a farm! They sound so cool! You live in the middle of nowhere and-”

“Why would you want to live on a farm? They are gross,” Tony replied, opening his eyes. No one could see this however, since her wore his orange tinted glasses.

“I have never been out of the city!”

“What about Berlin?”

“That was totally a city.”

“Do you want to know what happened or no?” Nat asked this with irritation clear in her voice.

“Yes!” Peter completely dropped the previous topic and ran over to a wall. He laid on it, eyes glued on Nat. Nat was tempted to smile. Peter was so sweet.

“Ok, so we were on the farm and the first night was normal.”

“We were staying for a week, but that didn’t matter. The following night, we heard a scream.” Clint spoke in an overly spooky voice. Nat snorted.

“You mean I heard a scream. I ran out, only to see some cows floating in the air.” She looked around the room to see different expressions from her teammates. Steve looked exasperated, Bucky’s eyes were wide. Peter had a huge smile on his face, showing all his teeth, and Bruce just looked confused. Nat couldn’t read Tony’s expression because of those darn glasses. They really hid his emotions well.

“That never happened!” Clint yelled. “She and I remember Budapest very differently.”

“How would you know? You were sleeping!”

“Sure, but I came out later to see you riding the cows around like a bull rider!”

“First of all, I never rode the cows on the ground. Second, they were floating. End of discussion.”

Clint just sighed and sat down on a red armchair.

“So the cows were floating and then their eyes turned red. They all then started flying towards me. It was, by far, the strangest thing ever. So I was riding the cows in the air Clint, and that is what reminded me of Budapest. So the cows had been floating in some kind of blue field, and I realized that they were bringing me closer to what seemed to be a massive black cube in the sky. We go there, and these freaky blue dudes surrounded me. The looked at me, sitting on the cows, and then pulled out these red spears. They sent out electric blasts, and I was surrounded. I kicked their a-”

“Language.”

“Right, sorry. So I kicked their butts and returned the cows to the ground. I landed on the cows, and Clint saw me like that. There.”

“It was the illuminati.”

“Shut up Clint.”
