OK SO ON WITH STORY! GO!
Normal POV
"Robin we got the witnesses over here." Wally said through the mind-link. It was a simple fire. Key world being was. Bagman had sent the team on a mission to put out a fire. But no one told them there was a family inside. The parents, and 2 kids. . . the parents didn't make it.
"Hold on KF I'm gonna talk to the kids." Robin said. The rest had tried, but no could get them to talk. The little girl, who couldn't've been older than 11 was holding her sleeping younger brother in her lap. He looked about 4. She just stared off into space, unmoving, almost unblinking. She didn't cry or take her eyes off the building she was once in. The boy slept peacefully, but she looked traumatized.
Robin walked over to her, she didn't look away from the burnt up building. Robin sat right besides her on the step she was sitting in. He leaned in and hugged her. The girl started shaking and turned to Robin. She started crying and put her head on his shoulder. Robin squeezed her a bit tighter, making sure not to squish the little boy. She shook with sobs, Robin rubbed a hand up and down her back comfortingly.
"It's ok Kid, it's ok." Robin kept whispering comforting words into her ear while she cried. And after a while she calmed down a bit.
"Can you tell me what happened?" Robin whispered. The girl hiccuped and shook her head no. "Ok. Do you have any family we can call?" The girl shook her head yes.
"So what's your name?" Robin asked. The girl looked up at him and wiped her nose.
"Emily, Emily Caps." She, now known as Emily, sniffled, she looked down at her sleeping brother. "He's, Johnathan."
"Ok, well I'm Robin, and we're gonna help you guys out ok?" Emily nodded. Robin smiled at her.
"Our aunt and uncle live around here." Emily said, Robin looked back at her.
"Ok we'll contact them." Robin said, pulling Emily into a side hug. That when he noticed his team, and some of the fire department watching them. His face turned light red. He was just glad the kid was alright.
"I'm gonna kick the door down." Connor said through the mind-link. The team had been sent on a mission about a kidnapping. They had already found the kidnapper and taken him down, but they still needed to find the kid.
Connor kicked down the door and a boy, no older than 5, was inside. When the door opened he pushed himself as far away as possible from it. He wore what looked like a potato bag. He had multiple bruises and cuts, the potato bag dress had dried blood in it. It was a hideous sight, and if they hadn't have already given to the kidnapper to the authorities he'd be in some serious pain.
The boy, who had tears streaming down his eyes, had pressed himself into the corner of the room. He stared at the team wide eyed and scared.
Robin was about to take a step in when Kid Flash zippped in using his speed and picking the boy up. He bounced him a bit and kept shushing him. It would've worked if the kid was a baby and hadn't BEEN TRAUMATIZED FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS! The boy started screaming uncontrollably and kept trying to escape the speedster's grasp.
"Wally! Put him down!" Artemis yelled in the mind link. Wally set the kid down and raced outside of the room.
"What do we do if we can't even get near him?" Wally said. The team started discussing options, they didn't see Robin slowly walking into the room.
The kid pushed himself away, Robin put his hands up and stopped moving.
"Hey kid it's ok. I'm a good guy, y'know Batman and Robin." The Kid relaxed a bit, but didn't allow Robin near him.
"Ok I'm gonna come a little closer now, is that ok?" Robin asked, the boy tentatively nodded. Robin got close enough to where he could pick the young boy up.
"Can I pick you up?" The boy nodded again. Robin slowly picked the 5 year old up. While in Robin's grasp the boy started crying harder, but didn't allow Robin to set him down.
Robin started rocking him a little bit, beginning to hum the beginning of a song.
"Somewhere over the Rainbow,"
"Way up high. . ."
"There's a land that I heard of,"
"Once in a lullaby. . ."
"Somewhere over the rainbow,"
"Skies are blue. . ."
"And the dreams that you dare to dream,"
"Really do come true. . ."
"Someday I'll wish upon a Star,"
"And wake up where the clouds are far. . ."
"Behind me,"
"Where troubles drop like lemon drops. . ."
"Away above the chimney tops,"
"That's where you'll find me. . ."
By the end of the chorus the boy was peacefully asleep in Robin's arms. Robin bounced him quietly, still humming the song. He turned around and saw his team, there jaws on the floor. He turned red, they had never heard him sing before. Robin smiled sheepishly back at them.
"Rob, come down here quick." Kid Flash said through the mind-link.
"What's wrong?" Robin was upstairs looking for clues on the event that had happened. Two parents had been murdered in their own home. When the kids came home, the oldest child saw the parents first, pushed her siblings away before they saw the gruesome scene. Then called the police.
"We found the kids and for some reason your the child whisperer." Artemis grumbled. Robin smiled at the archers frustration and ran downstairs.
There were 3 kids. A 12 year old girl, who'd actually seen the parents who appeared to be shredded to death. She looked extremely frightened and was shaking, but was frantically trying to calm down her 10 year old brother and 8 year old sister. The two younger hadn't seen the parents but where crying because they were dead. Somehow the oldest girl had only let a few tears slip while she tried to help her siblings.
Robin came down the steps. He saw the oldest girl with the two younger on her lap.
"She won't let us take them away from her." M'gann said sadly. Robin nodded and went towards them. The 12 years pulled her wailing siblings closer to her. Robin put his hands in the air, slowly sat down besides them.
"Go upstairs guys and find more clues, I got this." Robin commanded through the link. The team nodded and left.
"So what's you guys names?" Robin said softly.
"I'm -uhh," the 12 year old sniffled. "Im Jasmine. He's Ty, and she's Liyah."
"I'm Robin," Robin smiled, the oldest girl nodded. The smaller children were still crying. Jasmine pulled her siblings close and put her chin down on top of their heads, a few tears slipped from her eyes.
"You know it's alright for you to cry too, Jasmine." Robin said softly.
"I know, I'll cry when they're not around. Me crying isn't going to help them." Jasmine whispered. Robin didn't have siblings, and was considered to be the little brother of the team. If this was how it felt to be an oldest sibling, he now had a new respect for all older siblings.
"Stay awake . . . Don't rest your head." Robin began to sing, Jasmine looked towards him quizzically. But didn't stop him, it sounded nice.
"Don't lie down, upon your bed."
"While the moon drifts, in the skies."
"Stay awake . . . Don't close your eyes." The cries of the younger siblings quieted. Their wails turned into sniffles.
"Though the world is fast asleep."
"Though your pillows, soft and deep."
"Your not sleepy . . . As you seem."
"Stay awake . . . Don't nod and dream." The smaller children were now asleep. And Jasmine looked close. Her eye lids looked heavy and she kept nodding off. Only for her to snap her head back up. Robin kept singing to put her to sleep.
"Stay awake . . ."
"Don't nod . . . And dream." Jasmine set her head down on top of her siblings. Her eyes closed and breathes even. Robin smiled at the three and sat besides them while the team searched upstairs.
