Chapter 9- Friday Part 4
Xavier's P.O.V
I sat at my desk and started some paperwork. But the whole time, I couldn't stop thinking about Mikayla.
She was perfect.
But I knew that she was too good for me. I had a wedding in less than one month. The fate of the werewolf population was in my hands.
The vampires were far less strong than werewolves, but there were far more vampires than werewolves. There was a possibility that we could win the war with strength, but it wouldn't be beneficial to risk so many lives fighting for something that could have been avoided.
At the time, I wasn't thinking of my mate. How much it would affect her. I didn't understand how much a mate means to a person.
Ever since I was little and my parents first told me about mates, I couldn't wait to find mine. My heart was set on treating her like the princess she was and to tend to her every need. I knew that's she would be beautiful, inside and out. Even then, when I knew that a mate was a werewolf's other half, I didn't know the actual feeling you got from them. It's something you just can't explain.
I wouldn't give Mikayla up for the world. Especially not for Alyssa. She was a spoiled rotten vampire who was bitch toward everyone. Apparently, she was very close to her mother. When the incident happened, she was out for blood. That was, until she saw me. Her heart was set on me. I was the only way she would not declare war on the werewolves.
Though it broke my heart at the time to agree to it, I had to think for my kind.
But the decision is even harder now that I have my mate.
One of the guards peeked into my office door. I would usually get mad if they don't knock, but I could tell from his facial expression that it was serious.
"Alpha?"
"Yes?" I said in my strict Alpha voice.
"Princess Alyssa is here to see you," I could hear the annoyance in his voice. My guards are trained to be emotionless while on duty, but it was no match for Alyssa's bitchiness.
I rubbed my temples. I didn't have time for this. "Send her in." I reluctantly ordered.
He closed the door. Sure enough, Alyssa strut into my office, contaminating it with nauseating floral perfume.
"Hey, Baby," she purred.
I almost gagged at the thought of Alyssa and I being in a romantic relationship.
I was made for Mikayla.
"Hey," I said, casually.
"So, my father has already set the wedding up. But instead of in a month, it's in two weeks," she said, while inspecting her neon pink nails.
"What?!" I roared.
"Xavier, don't raise your voice at me," she planted a long fingernail on my chest and looked me in the eye.
"Just one call and there would be a war," she whispered in my ear. I just wanted to snap her finger off just for touching me.
"Why would you change the date? I thought everything was clear," I tried to calm myself down, but her face just aggravated me more. I was planning on finding a way to stop the war and wedding before either of them happened. But it would be nearly impossible to do that with the wedding in two weeks.
"Because then we can get straight to the mating process. In fact, I plan on it being on the night of our wedding," she tried to seductively whisper. But it just disgusted me further.
I clenched my fists in an effort to stop myself from taking out my rage.
"Okay baby, I gotta go have lunch with father," she leaned in to kiss me. Before I could react, her lipstick-covered lips were on mine.
I heard the door swing open just as her lips touched mine.
"Hey Xavier! Wanna g-," My mate's voice stopped mid-sentence.
I tore my lips form Alyssa's just as Mikayla ran out of my office.
"Whose that girl?!" Alyssa yelled after me as I ran after Mikayla.
I didn't bother answering, I had to get to my mate.
After running out of the house, I lost sight of her. Luckily, I used her unique scent to track her down. Mikayla ran very fast, so it took me a minute to figure out which direction she ran in.
When I caught a whiff of her smell, I started stripping. I tied my clothes to my ankles and wrists and shifted.
I ran at top speed to my mate.
Mikayla's P.O.V
I ran with all my might toward who-knows-where. Unwanted tears were running down my cheeks, making me hate Xavier more and more.
I should have never trusted him. I should have never let this relationship go this fast. This relationship should have never happened in the first place.
When my legs started to feel like jelly, I collapsed on the dirty ground. I panted while bawling my eyes out. I didn't even know why I was crying this much. I literally just met this asshole yesterday.
It must be that stupid mate bond.
I knew right as I saw Xavier kiss that blonde bitch that it was way too good to be true.
It should have never gone this far. I pulled myself off the ground and started looking around. I wiped my tear stained cheeks and cleared my mind, despite an achy feeling in my heart. I took a deep breath of the fresh air and started walking.
I came to a familiar clearing with the giant oak in the middle. I started climbing up the makeshift ladder and sat on the first platform. I was winded.
I got back up and climbed up to the amazing dome.
Where Xavier marked me last night. I just stood in awe at the magnificence of the location and structure of it...
And how it could belong to such an asshole.
I picked up a stray rock and threw it with all my might at the glass.
Nothing happened.
I groaned. Of course it's made of invincible glass. I laid back down and thought about what a fucking jerk Xavier is. Also, how stupid was I to trust his sorry ass.?
I heard the crunching of leaves down below. I groaned again and got back up. After walking to the edge of the platform. I glossed my eyes and jumped off.
I fell a good 50 feet. I landed on a huge branch and probably broke something. Sure enough, Xavier rushed over to me.
"Oh my gosh, Mikayla! Why the fuck did you do that?!" He yelled while getting ready to pick me up bridal style.
"Get your fucking hands off of me?!" I screeched before standing up and getting ready to bolt.
"Mikayla! Let me explain!" He pleaded. He grabbed my arms and spun me around to face him. He looked so vulnerable and I felt the water works coming back.
"Why? Why did you do it?" I whispered.
"I'm so sorry, Princess," he pulled me into his arms and hugged me.
I just stayed in his arms, crying, for a second before returning to reality. "No! No, I can't let this happen again. You just think that because I'm your mate means that you can push me around and even cheat on me? No! Because you're a fucking asshole who deserves to rot down under with that bitch you kissed," I said, determined to stand my ground. My voice was audibly shaky and I was still crying.
"Princess, it's not what you think..," he pleaded.
"No! It's exactly what I thought! You're just a man whore who can't keep your dick in your pants. Well, whoppty-fucking-foo! Haven't met one of those is a while!" I yelled in anger.
"You know what, Xavier, I thought you were actually different from a lot the douchebags that go to my school. But you're just the same, if not worse."
I could see his heart breaking through his eyes. But his expression hardened after a second.
"Actually, I'm not the only one at fault here. Yes, the situation did look very wrong. But it really hurts me knowing that you don't trust me enough to let me explain. Mates must trust and believe in their partner for things to work out. If there isn't any trust, there isn't fucking anything," he said.
I was shocked.
"You don't have the right to turn the tables on me. Even if there is a logical explanation, wouldn't it be right to have told me beforehand? I've heard a lot of bullshit in my life, but this ought to be the crappiest. You planned this all, didn't you? Kidnap me, make me fall for you, all while having a bed buddy on speed dial on your phone. You, sir, are what this world calls an asshole," I yelled back as I started climbing up the ladder.
Unfortunately, he followed me up to the dome.
"You're right! But the past is over, so it's in our best interest for you to let me explain what actually happened. I know I messed up and I am truly sorry. But you have to let me explain," there was a mix of anger, sorrow, and vulnerability in his raised voice.
"Fine, one chance is all you get Xavier. One chance to explain this fucked up situation," I threatened.
"Thank you!" He sighed. He unlocked the door to the room. I went inside and sat on the bed that I had been laying in a few hours ago.
Xavier walked over to sit next to me.
"No, no, no. You don't sit next to me unless I believe your explanation."
He groaned and awkwardly sat on the floor.
"So, speak."
"Okay. The girl that is was kissing was Alyssa. She is the Vampire Princess. Her father, King Vladimir, is the Vampire King. In a couple weeks, I am supposed to marry her."
"What?!" I yelled.
"Just let me finish. We must form an alliance with the werewolves or else there will be a war between the vampires and werewolves."
"Why?"
"Well, it all started when I was five. My mother was killed by a vampire. Her killers explained what happened and were deeply sorry, wishing the best for our family. It was an honest mistake, and we completely understood that. But my father, he didn't take it too well. My mother was gone, and my ultimately father blamed the vampires. He basically made it his mission to redeem my mother, even though her death was slightly her own fault. She was drunk one night on wolfsbane with another packs Luna. Despite her friends' warnings, she wandered away from her sober friends. She wandered into a dark alley, where two vampires were feeding from each other, a common event between vampire lovers. Of course, since she was drunk, she thought they were killing each other. She ran towards them and tried to push the male off of the female. The male thought the female was playing hard-to-get, so he pinned my mother, who he thought was his lover. He pinned her against the wall and proceeded to roughly feed from her, realizing his mistake too late, eventually killing her."
"Oh," was all I could say.
"Anyway, my father wanted to kill one of the Royal Family members. He couldn't get a hold of one, so when I was five, he gave up. Two years ago, my father and the Vampire Queen were found dead in a dumpster near the same bar my mother died. Their causes of death are unknown to this day. We don't even know who died first."
"Oh, that's rough," I said.
"Yeah. Even though us werewolves were distraught over the fact that our most powerful alpha had been killed, we were very mad at the vampires. Even after my mother and father's death, the werewolves kept their heads. Unlike us, the vampires were out for blood after we allegedly killed heir Queen. The only way that we could stop them from raging war was a marriage alliance to unite our species."
"So, how did the kiss happen?" I asked.
"You just walked in at the wrong time. Alyssa had just forcefully planted her lips on mine just before you walked in. It was without my consent and I wish I had made it clear I did not want to have anything to do with her."
"Oh," I said, yet again.
"So, do you believe me?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry for going all ape-shit on you. I was just really mad. I guess I get jealous easily," I laughed it off.
"Do you forgive me?" I ask. I stood up and walked over to him. I sat on his lap and wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Only if you forgive me," he offered.
"Deal."
"Aren't you supposed to be at school right now?"
"Eh. This is my free period."
"So you just left Olivia and Asher alone?"
"Yeah, they were pretty popular amongst the school."
"Figures. Every werewolf is blessed with good looks."
I frowned at that, "Do I fit the werewolf standards?"
"You're more than good-looking. You're beautiful."
"You're just saying that because you're my mate," I scoffed.
"Even if you weren't, you would be the most gorgeous girl I had ever laid eyes on."
I blushed wildly.
"Xavier?"
"Yes, Princess?"
"Will you go somewhere with me?"
"Where?"
"To the park. My brother's birthday is tomorrow, so I would like for you to come with us to the park."
"Anything for my princess."
