Chapter 1

Presley's POV

"Alpha, rogues are approaching our territory. What do you want us to do?" Persephone, my Beta, asked through the pack link.

I closed my eyes, sighing, "Deter them away from the outer border. If they don't budge and continue onto our land, you know what to do." I replied, flicking through another page of paperwork.

Usually, I would do the morning patrols, and I trusted either my little brother Adam or Persephone to complete the evening and noon patrol so I could keep up with the copious amount of paperwork that poured on my desk each day.

Today was different; I had to get done with anything I could before leaving for about two weeks to complete an audit on packs in Italy. We tried keeping a heavy hand on doing them to ensure that the Omega Protection Program was still instated or instituted at all. We had made several rogue packs because they wanted to treat omega's as an item to be owned.

Several packs were on my radar as it became increasingly noticeable that packs wanted to marry off their omega's to alpha's of other packs to gain an upper hand. It almost felt inhumane, arranging to marry someone off to someone who has no business being married to the omega's.

My parents always raised me to have the mindset that my mate would be the one that would bare my mark. Sometimes I would give into my alpha desires when my wolf Ezekial would fall into a rut. I would sleep around with pack members to appease the sexual desires of my alpha wolf.

After I didn't find my mate at the age of 18, the less I desired to find my mate as the years passed. I thought I would have found my mate when I turned 18- like my parents, who found each other before the age of 18 due to an unexpected heat from my mom. It was later revealed that they were a special breed of mates called Primal Entwined Mates, believed that they were mates in a past life.

"Alpha, they're not backing off. They're quickly approaching the inner border, please come help us." Persephone's voice echoed in my head.

Sighing, I stood to my feet, chunking the work I had been trying to focus on onto the desk. I kicked my shoes off, undressing as I walked out of my office, letting my wolf take over his instincts and shift into our wolf form.

When I was outside, I let my instincts take me to the eastern inner border. The foul smell of sulfur filled my nostrils the closer I got to the border, making my hackles rise. I bared my teeth when I approached the group of my warriors and my Beta fighting off the group of rogue wolves.

I let out a menacing growl, almost stopping each rogue in their tracks. I was widely known for my ruthless actions. I would kill rogues with no hesitation, I would win challenges quickly and efficiently; no one held a candle to me when it came to challenges.

My father once told me how he had to work hard for everything. He even told me how my grandpa had tortured him by making him sit in the omega cabin- where they had their heats to build up a tolerance to an omega in heat to divert him from attacking omega's. He told me how my grandpa built up his immunity to silver and wolves bane by poisoning him with the lethal substances little by little. It strained my relationship with my grandpa for a while after my dad confessed the awful wrongdoings he had done to my dad and my mom.

My dad told me how when they experienced their first heat and rut together- well apart, that their wolves made it adamant that they were mates. Making my mom wear a collar, forcing him to stay away from my dad, making him miss holidays with the pack. Just because their wolves knew they were mates before the age of 18.

It made me more than grateful for the kindness my father showed me. He had given me so much trust in my teen years. He let me be who I was meant to be. He let me choose the direction I went in versus having everything chosen for me. I could have chosen not to take the alpha position of the pack if I decided to do so.

My parents were widely known for being the biggest game-changer in the werewolf hierarchy. They were the first alpha/omega couple that was public about their mating. They made history in a good way.

The rogue wolves backed away. My dominating presence made them shiver in fear, they tucked their tails and backing away. I growled again, licking my chops, showing them I did not play games.

The leader of the small group tucked his ears back, quickly turning around to run away.

"Thank you, Pres." Persephone put her paw on my back.

"Yeah, yeah." I barked, turning back around. "Make sure to tighten the security around the borders. We can't have this happen every day I'm gone, both you and Adam have alpha wolves; show it." I replied snarkily, shifting back to my human form; Persephone followed my suit, shifting back into her human form as well.

"Wow, harsh there Pres. Sometimes they think we're wimpy; that was a scenario where that was the cause."

"Again, alpha's." I waved my hand, making her roll her eyes in response.

"Whatever!" She sighed. "Did you get your paperwork finished? You're supposed to leave at 4 in the morning tomorrow."

"I was trying to, but someone needed me to do something she knows how to deal with herself." I shrugged my shoulders, laughing at her.

"Ugh, just because you- who's known for being ruthless showed up, they were fighting us, I think they managed to claw up Ryker. Not everyone can growl and make them go away." She shook her head, reaching her arm out, shoving me. Once we got back to the training yard, both of us grabbed clothes.

"I'm just teasing ya, Perse, chill. Please make sure to file a report and make sure Ryker is taken care of by your dad."

"You got it, bossman." She playfully saluted. "Make sure you also see your mom before leaving; he's been complaining that you don't come and see him anymore."

Sighing, I rolled my eyes, looking over to my friend. In words to describe Persephone, she was strong, tall, and lovely. Her brown hair that she inherited from her sperm donor had been dyed several colors over the years. She always had her wife Sophia braid it in the morning; Persephone always told me it was calming to have her mate's fingers sifting through her locks, making her calm for the day. She had a strong jaw, high cheekbones, and eyes that could make any enemy back away. Persephone had tattoos almost covering the entire upper half of her body, minus her face.

"Of course he wants to see me," I mumbled. It wasn't that I had a problem with my parents; in fact, my mom was still the acting Luna of my pack until I found my mate or decided to bite the bullet and mate with someone who was not my goddess-given mate.

"I mean, you haven't seen them in over a week; I think your mom thinks he's done something wrong since your parents didn't want to conduct the audit in Italy with you." She cocked her eyebrow. "I honestly see their point, your dad still hates that son of a bitch, Ethan Berger-"

I cut her off, "Ethan Berger is no longer the alpha of that pack. The only reason I like my mom coming with me is that it's a little easier getting omega's to talk when he is there. I'm not mad; I understand that they didn't want to go." I ran my fingers through my hair, letting out a long breath. "I've just been busy this week preparing to leave for a couple of weeks, so that way all you and Adam have to worry about is making sure the pack is protected to its fullest extent."

"Well, I'm relaying the message to you. Maybe go to their house for dinner or something?" She wrapped her arm around my shoulder.

"Alright, now bug off and let me finish my paperwork. Link me if you need me."

"Aye, aye."

---

"Pea." My mom said against my chest rubbing his scent into my clothes. When I had gotten to my parent's house, I went to the one place my mom spent most of his time. He was a short, feisty omega, 5'2, with light brown hair, big green eyes, and delicate features. Along with my dad, my mom was always my number one supporter. "I missed you baby."

I patted his back, squeezing him a little tighter. "I missed you too, mom; I've just been a little busy getting ready for the audits."

"I thought you were mad at your dad and me." He looked up, his green eyes meeting mine.

"You know I wouldn't be mad at you, momma," I leaned down, kissing his cheek, making a wide grin cover her face.

"Good," He patted my chest, pulling away from my embrace. "Are you staying for dinner, Pea? I can make your favorite?"

"That's why I'm here," I chuckled.

"Alrighty!" My mom chirped. "Do you want pulled pork, or do you want fajitas? I might need you to go to the market depending on what you want."

"Whatever, you have the ingredients for mom. Where's pops? I need to ask him something." I leaned against the cabinet.

"I think he's trying to do something out in the back with the twins, not one hundred percent sure, but I think Hunter was picking on Hayden at school. We both know how docile Hayden is; Alexandre found out because their teacher stopped him at the market and let him know." My mom shrugged his shoulders.

"Well, I'm going to go witness the blood bath; link me if you need me."

"You got it, kiddo."

—-

My dad stood with his arms crossed, a stoic look on his face. "C'mon big tough guy, you're the one who picked on Hayden."

Hayden tried keeping his balance, "Okay, and the loser deserved it," Hayden grunted out, still in the squatted position. "What alpha-"

"Before you continue with that sentence, what alpha picks on their family members? What alpha teases their sibling at school?" I asked, mirroring the look on my dad's face.

Hunter fell to the ground at the sound of my voice, making both my dad and brothers glance in my direction. Hayden stayed glued to my dad's side; his gaze was cast downwards. Hayden was always the one that had reason on his side, while Hunter was nothing but trouble. They were complete opposites; Hunter was heavily involved in sports and aimed to be a warrior once he got out of school. Hayden was book smart and well kept together. He wanted to go to college and possibly live with humans when he got out of school. He wanted to travel the world and explore different species, much like our own.

"The dweeb deserved it! He made me look like an idiot in front of the whole class."

My dad furrowed his eyebrows, "Just because he's book smart doesn't mean you should call him awful names. You're capable of the same things he is, but you show a lack of integrity to get the job done." My dad's anger radiated off of him with each word he said. "Now, if I hear you teasing Hayden again, you'll be grounded. The rest of your punishment for this incident will be you doing his chores for the rest of this week."

"Whatever," Hunter mumbled under his breath.

"What did you just say, young man?" Dad growled, making Hunter scoot back a few inches.

"Nothing..." My dad nodded, placing his hand on Hayden's shoulder.

"I thought so, now come hug Hayden and apologize to him correctly this time. If you call him another name, you'll be doing his chores for a month along with the grounding. Do I make myself clear?" Hunter nodded. "Speak, young man, do I make myself clear?"

"Yes, sir," Hunter responded.

"Good, now I need to talk to Presley, so don't act like an idiot." They both nodded; dad, ruffled Hayden's hair stepping away.

He grabbed my arm, pulling me back into the house, to his 'man cave,' my mom would call it. "Long time no see, asshole." My dad chuckled playfully.

"Well, I had a lot of shit to do, dad, you know how hard it is." I rolled my eyes.

"Not when your mom has been crying to me nightly thinking that he did something wrong." He flopped down into his favorite recliner. The old chair looked like it was about to fall apart any day now, but dad insisted the old hunk of junk was old and reliable.

"We know it was you crying, you big wimp." I played along. "Y'all do know the phone works both ways, right? There's also, linking me, showing up at the packhouse unannounced like y'all always decide to do, at the most inconvenient times."

"Well, hey, you should put a sock on the door or something." He shrugged, raising a brow.

"It's my own personal apartment, dad. I think I should be able to do as I please there." I give him a dumbfounded look. "It's not like I live here, where there are boundaries to be had."

"Yeah, I still think the sock trick would do the job." Shrugging his shoulders once more.

"Anyways, down to business, since I'm going to be gone for a few weeks, do you think you could kinda shadow Adam and Perse. This morning I still needed to show up for them because the rouges wouldn't back down. I would love to come back and the pack not be chaos and hellfire when I get back."

"I don't see why not," he nodded. "Anyways, kiddo, what have you been up to? Other than paperwork and rogues? Anyone you fancy yet?"
