Several hours later, the first ceremony is officially over. Just as everyone starts to get up, the Alpha orders everyone to sit back down. Looks of confusion land upon the faces of the crowd.

"I had almost forgotten something," my dad announces, "my lovely wife here as something she would like to say."

"Hello everyone," she starts out gently. Everyone listens closely; they all love her. "I know you are all anxious to get the festivities started, I am as well, but there is a few things I would like to say. As many of you know, I am not originally from this pack."

This is a widely known fact. I try to pay attention, unsure where she is going with this speech.

"I am so grateful that you all welcomed me here with open arms, over a decade ago. I am beyond grateful you allowed me to become mated with your very own Alpha, and that I became your Luna. However, we were young then. Alex and I, both in our mid to early twenties. Children, if you will.
Now that we are starting to age, it is, of course becoming difficult. We love our role as pack leaders, we would never want to change that. But, our kids, Everest and Ember, are grown. They've matured into beautiful, intelligentsia and strong wolves. That is why, Alpha Alexander and I, have decided to put them both through the Alpha and Luna program at once. As soon as they graduate, they will become the Alpha and Luna."

My jaw drops. Alpha and Luna? I, Ember Elise Cast will be a Luna! Everyone erupts into loud chatter. My mother holds up her hand, halting the conversations with one movement. I don't think I would ever be able to do that like her.

"Luna Layla!" someone yells from the crowd. They stand up, brushing off their suit jacket. "Alpha and Luna are meant to be mates. Are you saying that your children are destined mates, and that you approve of what is essentially incest?"

"No, that is not what I am saying. I am saying that as brother and sister, they will rule this pack together. No mate will be included. They have both shown interest in becoming Alpha, and I believe it is only right to give them the same opportunities. Any more questions?"

Another person jumps to their feet. This time, it's a woman. "Are you saying that you're considering not only Everest as Alpha, but also Ember? As in, they may switch roles?"

"Yes, I am. In this age, I don't believe that Alpha should be limited to only men. If my daughter wants to be an Alpha, then she will be put to the test. Any more questions?" she answers the questions clearly, and strongly. I am so proud of her right now.

"Yes, Luna. What if one of them finds their mate? How will the roles play out then?" this time, it's Axel to rise to his feet. My eyes widen at his question.

"Ah Axel. Why would such a question interest you?"

"Asking for a friend," he says cooly, barely batting an eyelash. My mother gives me a knowing glance, causing me to shrink back in my seat.

"Very well then. I suppose that will be up to the future Alpha and or Luna. That will be all the questions we are accepting now. You are all dismissed," she links arms with my dad, and walks backstage. I make eye contact with Axel again. He winks at me, turns away, and rushes out the door. I, of course, follow him.

Running out the front doors, I look around frantically. Luckily, I catch a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eye. He appears to be running into the woods. Just as I'm about to chase after him, someone grips my arm. It feels as if my skin is on fire. I pull away quickly. I'm spun around, coming face to face with Harley.

"Harley- I ugh, I wasn't expecting to see you again so soon. Is everything okay?" I ask, glancing over my shoulder. Axel is no longer in sight.

"We need to talk, in private," he says quietly, but with force. I step away from him.

"We already talked. We don't know what's going on. There's no point, okay?" I say, glancing behind me again. Still no Axel. Surely he can sense that I'm not behind him anymore.

"But I've done some research, Ember. I think I know what's happening, and I know how to fix us. I'm not sure you're going to like it though." He pulls me back into the large auditorium. There is nobody else around.

"What won't I like?" I ask, my chest tightening with anxiety.

"We have to run away. Right now," he says with such seriousness that I feel slightly intimidated. He grips my wrist, protected by the fabric. I pull my wrist away from him, but he won't let go.

"I am not running away with you, Harley. Have you lost your mind?" I try to pull away again, but he only tightens his grip.

"Maybe I have. But, Ember, I need you to come with me, because I don't like the alternative."

"What's the alternative, because there is no way I am going with you," I try to cross my arms, but remember that he has a hold of my wrist.

"I guess I just have to kidnap you then."

"I'd like to see you try-" suddenly, a cloth is placed over my nose, and everything goes dark. The last thing I see is Harley, smiling sadly as I close my eyes, falling back into the arms of whoever just drugged me.

Hi everyone !!

I am so excited for this chapter y'all. Before each chapter, I write out what I want to happen, and I usually stick to the plan. But this time, I felt the urge to write this and I love it.

The character development in this was unreal yo.
