Chapter 7
He was thankful that he was finally alone after a hectic day. Juggling the packs way of life and his personal problems was taking a toll on him. He was fighting to control Koda during the meeting; delegating duties to the pack members. His skin felt tight. He wanted to escape and shed his clothes, take his wolf form. He needed to run, hunt...mate.
Shaking off the last thought, he felt satisfied after the hunt for the little prey he chose in the woods for a pass time. He bored quickly with little interest left in the catch and he changed back to his human form.
He walked slowly to the large lake and stepped into the welcoming water. Submerging himself totally, he swam to clear his mind. He needed to.
He needed to distract himself from Kodas incessant need to seek out their mate. His entire body twitched from resisting his basic instinct.
Slowly standing waist deep in the water, he relaxes his muscles. At least he tries until his wolf senses prickle.
He sensed the moment she appeared. Her scent hits him hard bringing in the urge to shift and seek her out.
He turned in the direction her scent was the strongest but he could not see her. But oddly enough, he felt her.
Koda impatiently began to pace. Pushing for control and not wanting a complete stranger to see him shift, he calmly speaks.
'I know you're here.'
His words have an intended affect on her as he can hear the quick patter of her heart.
'I can feel you,' he adds.
He closes his eyes sensing and feeling the slight skiddishness and the change in her scent. The aroma, sweet with anticipation, suttle with fear and a hint of spice.....arousal.
His nostrils flare, a low satisfying growl rumbles in his chest ,he can feel his eyes change and Koda begs to take over.
Find our mate...he insists.
Although the hunt for her would be interesting, he struggles with the urge. The Alpha in him doesn't mind making her nervous. He salivates around the idea of seeing her again. He has dreamt of her every night since the last time he caught her and those doe-eyes filled with fear held his. But the low growl from Koda reminded him that his wolf did not like his mates scent, tinged with fear.
Slowly he trudges out of the water. Now on the prowl. Her alluring scent is strong and pulls at him. With every step it lures him towards the trees. The billowing breeze and all of her surrounds him. Until it changes and then it disappears.
Koda whines more urging him to continue searching for her but growls in annoyance when Maddox refuses and walks away agitated that he was bated to look for her in the first place.
But he calms his wolf, assuring him that she does have an interest in him and doesn't doubt that she will return. That satisfies Koda as he runs in circles and howls.
The thought alone bothered him. Deep down he simply couldn't deal with this. To be bound to a mate ensures a prominent future and stability in his pack. A continuation of his lineage because he would want a family. His heart raced with the thought of his mate bearing his pups. The thought has Koda's ears perked up.
His lips thinned and his fists tightened. What crummy timing for her to show up now when he was at a crucial state trying to keep his pack at bay and calm from Dantes imminent threat. Vampires. He shook his head. They were out of control.
They were in an agreement and rules were in place. Do not kill humans. True, their blood was needed for nourishment. But to kill for personal reasons or sport was forbidden. And if caught, the punishment was death. But the rate of dead bodies found drained in the last couple of months tipped the scale because two wolves from his own pack were amongst those deaths and Dante refuses to own up to it.
To have a mate now in the middle of all of this does not bode well for him. Yet, the tempting memory of her beneath him bombards his mind. Remembering her sprawled out, tangled in his sheets with her lush body pressed to his makes his manhood thicken.
He tightens his eyes shut. He wanted to mark her. Claim her.
F*ck!
No. No. No. No. It can't happen. Not going to happen. His body tenses.
Not going to happen...

"Come forward Hannah," the voice from the throne ordered.
Slowly she made her way towards the three celestial elders to receive her punishment for going to the mortal realm.
On shaky legs, she stood before three sets of eyes that held her to the spot. Her heart slammed in her chest in fear.
She looked around nervously. It seemed as if every Angel in heaven was present for her hearing. And maybe they had-it was the most exciting thing to happen for thousands of years. Hannah was already somewhat of a complex figure among Heaven's angels due to her odd behavior as of late. Her peers murmured amongst themselves as they watched her take position at the focal point of the room.
The celestial elder in the center of the dais signaled for quiet, and the spacious hall fell silent. Metatron, highest of the angels, spoke, his voice an authoritive rumble, demanded attention and respect.
"Hannah, you've been called before the High Court to explain your actions in which you have went past the wards into the mortal realm. In doing so, you crossed paths with a human and revealed yourself. Present your testimony so that we may deliberate."
The storm of whispers that followed slowly died down as he rose his hand.
Their gazes landed on her.
She could not help but feel small and insignificant before them.
Shyly she lowered her head and her voice shaky and low, explained what had happened. The brief confession earned quizzical stares and disapproving glances.
When she finished a long silence awaited her as Metatron observed her quietly.
"Hannah?" the calm voice of Zadkiel called to her.
The Archangel of freedom, benevolence, mercy, and the Patron Angel of all who forgives, regarded her with a warm smile. "You claim that you feel a certain pull to this mortal?"
"Yes." she answered softly.
"Explain it." he urged.
She lowered her head then. She began to fidget as the images of him floated through her mind.
"I feel connected to him somehow," she whispered. "I....feel things for him I can not explain," she lifted her worried gaze to look at them.
The loud gasps and murmurs all around made her face heat in shame.
"How is that possible? Angels do not possess human emotions," Raguel the archangel of orderliness, fairness, harmony, and justice leaned forward with a confusing frown.
She lowered her eyes for fear that he would see it otherwise. Because the simple truth was she did have feelings. The moment she saw him in her vision she knew it. The moment he pressed his lips to hers, she felt it.
A tingling sensation on her lips began and she tucked her bottom lip between her teeth. The kiss had seared her mind, body and soul. Her chest squeezed at the memory.
The sudden murmurs pulled her back to the present.
Metatron's soft yet booming voice spoke.
"Hannah, Angels of any rank but those of Guardians, do not belong in the mortal realm of Earth. It is strictly forbidden to interact with them and you have broken that rule."
Silence swirled around her.
"You will no longer be allowed past the wards." Raguel informed her.
The roiling thoughts in her mind slowed and halted, unable to process their words and suddenly unable to breath. Without thinking she shook her head.
"Please don't do this," her saddened eyes lifted to their astonished gazes.
Slowly tears welled up in her eyes as her shaky voice pleaded once more. "I....can't be without him," a single tear slid down her cheek.
She did not understand why but she said the words out loud.
The shouts of astonishment echoed off the walls in the hall as the dais of the celestial beings dimmed.
The time dragged on as she waited once more for them to continue.
Then Archangel Raguel stepped off the dais and slowly approached her. "Breaking the rules set forth by decree of the Elders Council, requires a stern penance, Hannah."
"As you have exhibited an unrelenting fascination with this mortal you will assume your current form in his realm for the length of his mortal lifetime. You will not be stripped entirely of your powers or abilities, but you will be strictly forbidden to use them. You will have the mortals physical and mental sense of being. You will endure mortal emotions of Love, temptation of the flesh and heartbreak in its entirety.
Once he dies, you will return to us with no memories of ever knowing him. You will have no ties to the celestial realm for the duration of your time on earth. We cannot limit the free will of your Angelic immortal form, but if you disobey this ruling, you will be judged again and more harshly."
"You can not do that," Michael stepped forward furiously.
All went silent as he looked up at the dais.
"She is a celestial fledgling with no knowledge of the mortal realm. Her innocence is the equivalence of a mortal child learning to walk for the first time. Sending her there. Casting her out like this, is dangerous and no better than what mortals do to their animals," he seethed.
"Silence! Or you go along with her." Metatron shouted.
Michael tightened his fists. He turned his gaze to her and watched as she dropped to her knees in shock.
"No..." she cried out softly.
The enormity of what had just happened caught up to her. She fell to her knees, a terrible pain flooding her mind with mental anguish.
Cast out?
But that would mean....
She was a fallen.
Numb and not able to speak for sometime, she slowly stood on shaky legs and turned to leave.
"Hannah?" Michael called to her.
But she did not stop. She could not. The severity of it all had her in a trance as she made her way to the garden. She turned her head and watched Raphael then follow her out.
"Hannah where are you going?"
She did not answer. A lonely tear escaped her eye as lightning bolts broke through the sky above them.
"Hannah!" he shouted as she stretched her wings and took off.
Weakened by her sorrow, she continued to fly until nothing but grey clouds surrounded her. Dropplets of rain followed and mixed with the heaviness of her tears. Shortly after.. thick, dark clouds and her tears made it impossible to see. Heavy winds whipped forcefully at her wings that grew heavy drenched in the rain.
Lightning bolts broke through the darkness. The first one startled her, but then there was another, followed in quick succession by yet another bolt. Within seconds, the sky was bright with thousands of lightning bolts and the last to illuminate the dark sky, struck her.
The searing jolt of light and heat, hit her so hard her heartwrenching- painful scream was lost in the wind as she lost movement in one wing and spiraled out of the sky.
The fast descent enveloped her in flames until she plummeted to the woods beneath her. The trees slowing her fall until she landed with a thud on her back that left her breathless.
Her body shook when an unknown sensation hit her. She couldn't control the sob that broke through her shaking body or the tears that followed. She let herself get sucked into the bleakness of her screams of agony.
Unable to move her arm or her wing,
Slowly lifting her other hand, she touched her shoulder and held her finger up and watched a single drop of crimson on her finger.
Blood....
"No," she heard herself murmur, barely louder than a whisper.
Drenched and shaking she lay there as the heavens continued to cry with her.
Disoriented and unable to move she lay there. Suddenly a glimmer in the sky appeared above her and broke through the darkness.
Large wings flapped aiding its descent as he landed and knelt at her side. Rough strong arms reached for her,and the familiar voice gently ordered her to retract her wings; cradling her close. Limp in his arms, she struggled to do so as she was carried away.
An unintelligible oath escaped him as he knelt to the ground at a distance and held her tight. Slowly they both began to glow. A soothing vibration rolled through her. Her pain, her sorrow, and her fear disappeared, as did everything else around her.
