Chapter 10: ... A short break...

The grave diggers poured the dirt over the casket that had been lowered six feet under the ground while King Kaden stood there immobile. His eyes fixated on the the dirt that now covered his poor unfortunate Mate.

After he had given his Eulogy to her, everyone followed him to the grave site for the burial. It was in the back of the castle close to the forest.

It had been a beautiful service he had to admit, one that he had a feeling Catalina would have approved off... even though he hardly knew her. "Her fault for that."  Blaze growled.

Ignoring him, Kaden threw the red long stemmed rose on top of the casket before the grave was filled up with the remaining dirt. "Rest in Peace... Mate."

Back at the Palace, the guests were mingling among themselves. Some of the topics being discussed were about the King's tragic lose and the concern of him losing himself for that lose. They already knew how powerful he was with Blaze as his wolf. They can also imagine the destruction he could cause from losing his mind from the lack of being with his soul mate. They Prayed to the Moon Goddess that it wouldn't happen.

Watching and hearing the whispers feet away from him, Kaden became restless. He wanted the sympathy from his packs, but the chatter about him not having his Mate was getting to him. Blaze was itching to come out and it was taking everything in him to keep him caged in before he destroyed everything in sight.

Taking a long gulp from his glass, he set it down on the tray that one of the servants was holding. He needed to get fresh air.

Once outside on the patio, he inhaled and exhaled a few times to calm down. The rage had been building up quickly from the moment he realized Catalina had escaped the castle. The woman was infuriating but also so intoxicating. The second he had realized that she was his he didn't want to let her go.

"My King." the throat clearing from behind him made him growl lowly. He wanted to be alone for a few minutes.

"Yes?" annoyance obvious in his voice.

"It's been confirmed. Everything is set for your journey. We are ready to go when you are." his General tells him.

Smirking at the news, Kaden turns around and nods his head. "Alright. Inform the others that we will be leaving in an hour. I want to let my guests know that I will be taking a trip alone to mourn my Mate."

"Yes my King. We'll be waiting outside." bowing his head then turning on his heel to let the others know about the King's order.

Walking back inside, Kaden looked around then loudly said. "My dear Alphas and guests."

The chatter ceased once they heard their King speak turning to face him. Once he knew he had their attention he spoke again. "I would like to thank all of you again for coming short notice to mourn my Mate with me. I truly appreciate your support and condolences. With that being said, I will be leaving for a while to mourn quietly and to be alone for a while. I hope you all understand since Blaze is very very restless, I need to leave... now."

Nodding in understanding, the guests began to make their way to him one by one to say goodbye.

The drive was a few hours from the Palace so Kaden tried resting but there was too much in his mind to think about taking a nap. Ash sat next to him while his General was in the front seat with the driver.

"Are you alright?" Ash asked his best friend.

"Should I be?" responding shortly.

"No, but I just wanted to make sure you were thinking straight. What you have been going through..." he stopped to think of the right words to say to his best friend who he knew was hurting.

"What I have been going through doesn't compare to what Catalina w-" also stopping. Grabbing his chest he hissed in pain.

"It's getting worst?" Ash asked knowing that Kaden has been hiding how much pain he really was in without his Mate.

"I'm.Fine." gritting through his canines that were slowly expanding because of the sharp pain.

Staying quiet, Ash sighed then looked out the window focusing on the passing trees wanting to just jump out of the moving SUV to go for a run. He cared for Kaden. They've known each other since a young age but sometimes he just wanted to knock sense into him. Everything he did from the second he met Catalina was wrong... and he knew Kaden would never admit it. So because of his mistake, he is paying for it and Ash couldn't be happier about it.

Reaching their destination three hours later, Kaden, Ash and his guards get out of their SUV's. Looking around, Kaden grinned at the Mansion in front of him. It was one of his many homes that his family owned to get away from the Palace. Many summers he spent running around the forest that surrounded the Mansion which was secluded from civilization. Even now he secluded himself in this property to get away from his duties as King.

Walking up to the entrance, the main door opened revealing a servant and a few other staff members standing to the side.

"Evening my King." the older woman bowed her head in respect.

"Evening Mrs. Wales." acknowledging the middle aged woman who had been the care taker of the Mansion.

"My condolences for your Mate. I wish I could have met her. I'm sure she was a lovely young woman." she tells him.

"She was and thank you. Is everything all set here?"

"Yes sir. Just like requested. Would you like to have supper before you clean up?"

"No thank you. I'm not hungry. Maybe the rest of the men are." nodding his head at the men who were walking in.

"I'm going to my quarters to wash up and rest. I need quiet time so I will be going for a run. Blaze needs it." explaining his plans to her.

Bowing her head again. "Yes my king. Ring if you need anything.

"I will, thank you Mrs. Wales." thanking the old woman who he cared for like a grandmother.

"Ash, let me know if any situations rise while I'm busy."

"Will do." bowing his head.

Turning to head up the stairs, Kaden leaves his men to put things away and to rest from the long day they've had.

He needed to get away and take a short break from the hell his Catalina had caused him since the moment he found her. Because of her stubbornness and unwillingness to accept her fate with him she paid the consequences... and he doesn't feel a bit sorry or guilty about it either.
