Two: Kade
Trees passed by my light brown wolf as I raced ahead of my father's similar coloured wolf. My paws skidded to a stop just before our pack territory ended, a big wolf grin on my face, which only grew when I saw my dads defeated face.
I went behind a tree and shifted into my human form and picked up a pair of basketball shorts from the basket kept the the tree. Walking out, I saw my dad emerging out from behind another tree, wearing a shirt, jeans and a frown.
"Come on dad. You should be used to losing against me by now." I laugh.
"I don't get how you can beat me, every time. I'm still the alpha you know." He huffs, crossing his arms like a child and walking back towards the pack house. I laughed again and followed him.
"Just admit it dad, you're getting old." I said. I was not serious obviously, I looked up to my father in every way. He is kind to our friends, unforgiving to enemies and caring to people who need help. I've always tried to be more like my father ever since I was a small child.
"Shut up Kade, I'm not old." He grumbled while rolling his eyes.
"Oh honey, I do believe you are, you're just in denial." The voice of my mother came from behind us, followed by a giggle, that belonged to my baby sister. Both, my father and I turned around to face them with smiles on our faces.
"Denise, what are you doing here, love? I thought you were preparing for the trip." My father said while walking up to her and placing a small peck on her cheek making mom giggle like a little school girl.
"It's all ready, Greg. Our bags are packed and kept in the car, all we have to do is get ready and leave." Mom said and smiled lovingly at her mate.
Mate. I've been waiting for my mate since my first shift seven years ago. My friends have all found their mates and I can't help but be envious. I know she's out there somewhere, and I'm not going to give up hope, I will find her. And when I do, I'm never letting her go.
I was jerked out of my thoughts by a small tug on the gem of my shirt. I looked down to see my five year old sister, Faith, looking up at me with her blue eyes wide open.
"Kady, do we have to go? I don't wanna go, I wanna stay here and play with Tigger." She whined, making me smile slightly and pick her up.
"I'm sorry Faith, but this is important, you know I wouldn't make you go otherwise." I said while pushing a strand of her golden hair, that she got from our mom, behind her ear. "But I promise that once we come back, we'll eat all the ice cream you want and watch whatever movie you want."
Her entire face lit up like a Christmas tree at the mention of ice cream. She gasped and hugged my neck as tightly as she tiny hands allowed her to. I heard her mumble a small okay in the crook of my neck. I laughed while hugging her back.
"Okay, let's go get changed then." I said as we continued walking back to our house.
~~~~~~~~
Once we were ready, we met at the porch of the pack house, where some of our pack members were waiting to send us off. Vince, the Beta's son and my best friend, came up to me with his mate, Clara, a caring and sweet girl, the exact opposite of her mate.
"Good luck, Kade. And get us back some souvenirs from the town." Vince said as he hugged Clara closer to him. I smiled and nodded. "And you take care of our pack till we get back." I replied in mock seriousness, I knew he would do a great job in handling the pack along side Danny, his father, the current beta.
I walked towards my car saying goodbye to everyone else. On the way there, I saw Olivia making out with Kurtis and rolled my eyes. I snapped my fingers to get their attention. Their heads snapped to me and Kurtis visibly paled at the sight of my stern look. He rushed away while sputtering apologies my way.
"Kade," I heard Olivia whine behind me, and I turned to look at her. "I was finally getting him to go on second base with me. Why did you have to ruin it." She huffed while crossing her arms grumpily. Olivia is the closest thing to the cliché 'pack slut'. She didn't sleep around and act like a bitch to people but she did date the unmated males of our pack, without getting attached. But she never tried to ruin a relationship once they found their mates. She was the only one of my friends, other that me, who hasn't found her mate.
"You are the Beta's daughter and I'm holding you just as responsible as Vince to run this pack while my family and I are away, so no hook ups till I get back." I said as I walked to the car where my mom dad and sister were waiting for me. I heard her huff and yell a good bye in my direction before I sat in next to my mom. I rolled down the window and waved to my friends one last time before the car sped off in the direction of Milestone.
I looked over to my dad, who was wearing a suit with a dark blue tie, the color that represented our pack, the Silent moon pack. I was dressed similar to him while mom and Faith were in dark blue summer dresses.
"Dad, has the Dark Moon pack agreed to our conditions?" I asked him. The Dark Moon Pack is one of our four neighboring packs. Recently, they have been causing unnecessary drama and fights with other packs for no good reason. My father decided to step in when The Full Moon Pack came to us for help. The Dark Moon hasn't dared to pick fights with us because of our reputation.
"I haven't asked them yet son. I'm planning on asking them in the meeting tomorrow." He replied. I nodded and looked out the window, watching the green trees slowly turning into houses as we crossed our territory and entered the town of Milestone. For some reason, the thought of being in this town got me excited. Even my wolf, Axel, has been hyper all morning.
I shrugged it off and got out my phone to answer e-mails.
~~~~~~~~
I had finished replying to all my mails and Faith had snatched my phone from me to play a game on it, so I had gone back to looking out the window, watching people going about their lives. I looked to my right when I felt the car stopping ad saw a small café with 'Fulton's Café' written on the glass door.
"We're stopping here for breakfast, then we'll go to the hotel." My mom informed me. I nodded before getting out of the car and helping Faith out. She gave me back my phone and held my hand while walking towards the café.
When I entered the café, the sweet smell of fresh strawberries dipped in molten chocolate mixed with the bitter smell of coffee hit me. I didn't know they served strawberry and chocolate here.
"Hey dad, do they sell strawberries and molten chocolate here?" I asked while looking at him. His face turned into one of confusion.
"No, they don't." He said, making me frown in confusion. "I've been coming here since my first meeting, I would have known if they sold it."
"But I smell it, don't you guys?" I asked and watched my parents eyes light up in excitement.
"Oh sweetie, that's not the café, you're smelling your mate. Go follow the scent." Mom said, while taking Faith from me and pushing me in the opposite direction. I blinked and let that information sink in. My mate. I found her.
I heard the bell above the door chiming, announcing the arrival of new people. As they walked past me, I got the whiff of werewolf scent, but ignored it and followed the smell of my mate. As the scent was getting stronger, Axel was growing more impatient.
As I was not paying attention to where I was going, I bumped into someone and the sparks that erupted when I held their small arms told me that it was my mate. I looked down at the small woman in my arms. Her brown hair was tied up in a messily done ponytail and she was wearing an apron that was hiding her curves from me. Finally, she looked up, and when her soft brown eyes met mine, Axel and I whispered in unison a word I've been dreaming to say, 'Mate'.
My beautiful mate's eyes widened as her soft pink lips opened slightly, as if in surprise. Her eyes held a lot of emotions, but the most prominent one was that of hope. There was so much hope in here eyes, it made me smile a little.
Our moment was interrupted when the kitchen door opened with a bang, making my mate jump in fright. I growled in frustration as I saw a man, approximately the age of my father walk to us, his beer belly moving with each step. He had on a white shirt, that had seen better days under a blue apron, similar to my mate's, and blue jeans. By his expression you could tell he was angry, which made me mad because his anger was directed toward my mate.
"When I tell you to serve customers, you serve customers, not tell other waitresses to do your job while you sit at the counter reading your useless books. What good are they going to do to you anyways? I should throw them all away." He said in a raised voice, something that didn't sit well with me or my wolf.
I looked down at my mate to see her wide eyes looking at the man, the hope replaced with fear.
"I-I'm sorry, Gr- Sir. But I needed to use the washroom so I- told Lilly to take their order." She stammered out, her fear only making me more angry. How dare someone treat our mate with such disrespect. I don't like him one bit. Axel growled out and I agreed.
I gently pushed her behind me and stood protectively in front of her, ready to pounce at any danger directed towards my mate. The man's gaze finally fell on me and fear flashed in his eyes before he raises his eyebrow.
"And who are you?" He asked, crossing his arms to try and look intimidating, but I didn't miss the hint of fear in his voice. He turned his gaze back to the girl standing behind me. "Are you whoring around now? Is that it?" He asked, sounding cocky.
That question just pushed me over the edge and a growl ripped out from the back of my throat. I was shaking in anger by now, my wolf clawing to come out, and I had a good mind to let him, even if there were humans around, but I felt all anger leave me when a small hand was placed on my shoulder and sparks erupted at the touch. I looked over my shoulder to my mate who was calmly shaking her head. She looked back at the man, fear returning in her eyes.
"Sir, my shift is over for the day, c-can I leave?" She asked, her voice not above her whisper. The man looked at the watch and scowled. "Fine, but I expect you to be here tomorrow morning for your usual shift." He said and left to go back to the kitchen.
I turned back to my mate when I heard her let out a sigh of relief. She looked up at me and gave me a small smile.
"I need to change. I'll be back in a while." She said while scurrying towards the door where I assumed the lockers were.
"Alright, I'll wait for you," I said right before she opened the door. She turned back to look at me with a small smile and nodded. Then she opened the door and disappeared behind it.
I went back to my table and started looking through the menu. However I had to look through it ten times over because each time I got distracted by my mate, who's name I still don't know.

A/n: New chapter! Yay! And it's longer than any other chapter I've written, ever. I'm so proud! The guy's point of view is surprisingly easier to write that's the girl's.
