Girls Lunch Date

"Girl, you know, I know, right?" Amelia said, taking a bite of her salad.

"Know what?" I asked, acting completely dumb.

"About you and Cairo. I am basically his little sister. You have Cami that knows and I know." I nearly choked on my salad, realizing that she did actually know.

"Oh." I took a big gulp of water, trying to figure out a way to change the topic.

"So, Amelia, are you going to Cami's wedding?" Smooth Raven.

"Yes, actually I am. Good try, though." She raised a brow at me.

"What?"

"Raven, the subject will not change. I wanted to talk to you about Cairo."

"What about?"

"What do you think of him?"

"He is a great guy."

"Raven, come on humor me please."

"He is like a closed book. Interesting, intriguing, and you want to know more. He only lets you see a few chapters keeping the rest locked away. He is handsome, a hard worker, caring, and gentle."

"So, you like him."

"I mean yeah I guess so."

"No, I mean like him like him."

"I try not to think about that. Our contract is set to certain standards."

"Raven, contract or not there are feelings there. Anyone could see them."

"Okay, can we talk about our plan for the bachelorette party? It is the day after your opening ceremony."

"I was thinking we take her out of the city, matter of fact out of the state. My treat."

"Amelia. No, we cannot ask you to do that."

"You're not, I am offering. A wedding present from me to the bride."

"Where were you thinking?"

"Well, I was thinking of a night possibly on the ocean."

"What!!! Cami would absolutely love that."

"Settled then. Oh, you know something I always wanted to do."

"Oh lord, what is that?"

"In the movies where they kidnap the person to make it scary but a big surprise."

"Oh my gosh yes I love it and I have a key to her house."

"DEAL THEN."

We finished our lovely brunch and I decided to go home. When i entered the building there was Pete. Honestly, he doesn't seem that bad. Screw it. I am the new me.

"Hey Pete, wanna grab a bite?"

The shock was the simplest of terms to describe his face.

"Sure."

I decided to take him down the block where they have the cutest little sandwich shop. They serve great coffee too.

"How are you doing Raven?"

"Great and yourself?"

"Same and I figured you were with that tall handsome man that seems to visit a lot."
My jaw dropped. I did not realize he saw him.

"Oh. Anyone special in your life?"

"There was but she was a player and could not keep her hands to herself."
I nearly spit my coffee across the table.

"Sorry. I did not know."

"Yeah, it's okay. I keep going forward."

"I did not mean to offend."

"I was kidding. I just do not have any friends and people are just crude."

I felt bad because that was me. I used to run from him because Shane said he was trying to get in my pants.

"I tried talking to you but the previous gentleman was very rude and arrogant."

"Yeah. Sorry about him."

"No problem. You just seemed nice and I know I probably come off strong. Just wanted to make new friends in the building and you are two doors down. Everyone else is stuck up or old."

He was funny and made me laugh.  I had an idea.

"What do you look for in a woman Pete?"

"Miss. Raven, I am honored but I do not think your other friend would approve."

"No. I have a friend and you seem nice. I figured I could play a little matchmaker."

"Honestly, someone who is themselves. Who loves life, works hard like me, determined, passionate, but at the end of the day we can be ourselves."

"What about a single mother?"

He just eyed me. "They are a package deal. I always wanted a family but I believe that would be her decision. No, it is not a deal breaker."

"I got a plan if you are interested."

"I love a good challenge."

I spent a couple of hours hatching a plan with Pete. Come to find out that is not his real name. That is what Shane called him because he did not have the decency to find out and It is all I knew him by. His name is Milo. I really think Amelia would like him.

We exchanged numbers so I can text him when the plan is in motion. She deserves happiness and if Milo can bring that to her so be it.
DING.

Cairo: How are you doing Angel?
 Me: Good. Yourself?
Cairo: Wore out but good. The niece is a handful. Do you know Amelia's launch next week?

He sent me a picture of Ameila's daughter on his shoulders and it looked so cute and adorable. He is great with kids.
 Me: Yes? Also, adorable picture.
Cairo: Want to go with me?
Me: Yes. That would be lovely.
Cairo: Great. I have to be there early but Henry will pick you up.
 Me: Sounds wonderful.
 Cairo: Great, it's a date.
 Me: Good night Cairo
 Cairo: Good night Angel!
