Elena and Kate made their way towards their parents' room. It was no wonder that Mr. and Mrs. Russo were fast asleep, the journey had tired them out, and so did the twins' constant chattering throughout it.
The twins sat down on their bed and shook their parents simultaneously.
"Mom, wake up!" Elena cried, shaking the beautiful woman in front of her. Her eyes were lined by dark lashes which contrasted deeply against her pale, spotless skin. Though she was in her early 40s, she didn't look her age. There was always this young aura around her which made her seem bright like the sunlight. Her name Eleanor, perfectly matched her personality, and she was best friends with her twin daughters.
Kate tried her best to wake up her father, Kurt Russo, by slowly poking him in the ribs.
"He's not going to wake up that way, dumbo," Elena hissed, and shook her mother further who stirred a bit and mumbled something close to "five more minutes..."
"I know how it feels like to be sleepy, I'm trying to wake him up lovingly," Kate replied back with a sigh.
"Lovingly, my foot!" Elena exclaimed. "My tummy's dying from hunger."
"Why don't I make something for you?" Kate whispered.
"Last time I checked you can't even switch on the gas," Elena scoffed with an eye roll. "Just wait, I know the perfect way to wake them up," she muttered and dashed towards the fridge.
She came back in a minute, holding some ice cubes in between her long fingers, her coffee-brown eyes sparkling mischievously.
Kate giggled at this and betrayed her "sleepy dad" by shoving the cold cubes in his neck while Elena did the same to their mom.
Their parents woke up with a start, looking at the cackling twins with bewildered expressions through half-open eyes.
"That was mean," Eleanor sniffled after a minute. "Is this how you wake up your mother?" she pouted and Kurt nodded at this with a pout matching his wife.
"How was school, girls?" he asked them gingerly, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"I guess we've made more enemies than friends, dad," Kate replied back drily.
"Some people need to be shown their places," Elena spoke seriously, her hands clenching at the thought of the bullying they had witnessed.
"Is everything alright? Did anyone trouble you?" Eleanor asked, her chocolate-brown eyes filled with concern.
"Everything's fine," the twins replied. Kurt exhaled in relief, muttering "thank God" and kissed their foreheads, leaving to freshen up.
"Now tell me, why this sudden way of showing that you love me?" Eleanor asked them amusedly, picking the ice cubes that had now fallen in her lap.
"We're hungry, mom. For God's sake, it is 3:30 in the afternoon."
"Yeah, and you don't want puffy eyes, do you? Oversleeping does that to you," Kate informed her mother who just checked her eyes frantically in the mirror.
"Mom!" Elena whined, "your special fried rolls please."
"Of course!" Eleanor said with a smile and grabbed the twins in a warm hug.
"Mom, you stink!" Kate whined and wrinkled her nose, which just earned a chuckle from her mother who got up with a slight shake of her head.

"These are delicious. Love you, mom!" Elena and Kate said and beamed simultaneously.
"Thanks, Kel!"
"Are any of them left to be made?" Elena asked innocently.
"Yeah just two of them, why?"
"Well, I would like to make them in my style," Elena replied, shifting her gaze from the window back to her plate. Someone's going to love these rolls.
She tried her best to stifle her laugh, earning a raised eyebrow from Kate who understood that her twin was up to something.
That was confirmed when Elena asked her to chop some capsicum, brinjal, and cauliflower while she mixed some ketchup, way too much salt, chili powder, and chocolate syrup together.

Let's move towards the Moore household. Like their last name, their house appeared dull like a moor.
"Ivan!" Mrs. Moore hollered to her son, who groaned and grumbled under his breath, skipping down the stairs two at a time.
"How many times do I have to tell you, young man? Take the steps one at a time," Cloe said as she glared at Ivan, crossing her arms together.
"Why did you call me, mother?" Ivan deadpanned, brushing off her earlier statement.
"Ah, yes!"
She beamed as she handed him a freshly baked blueberry pie.
"That's not for you," she added, noticing Ivan drooling over the pie. "We have neighbors who have just moved in here... I want you to offer this to them."
"Why can't you do that yourself? Why me?"
"You'll not to talk to your mother like that," Mr. Moore who entered the hall, reprimanded him. "Do as she says."
"Fine, then you'll let me drive," Ivan said, placing a deal.
"Never!" came out his parents' reply, leaving no room for argument.
"You're ruining my life. You know that I love driving. Seriously, guys, I'm not Annika from Barbie And The Magic Of Pegasus. Let me live!" Ivan retorted back, throwing his hands in the air animatedly with each line.
"You're way into this Disney and Drama stuff, son," Cloe held back a smile.
"We won't let you drive, that's final," James joined in.
"What's so bad about driving? Huh? I'm the only one in the whole school who walks to school! You won't understand me, ever!"
"You forgot Max," Cloe added, ignoring Ivan's questions and harsh words.
"That's because he's scared of driving," Ivan explained irritatedly. "Speaking of Max, I'm going to take him with me there."
"Someday we'll get to know that you're married to him."
"Stop being dramatic, mother," Ivan spat with a frown. "I'll go to the neighbor's house only if Max comes with me."
"Fine, go before this pie gets cold," Cloe stressed, and literally pushed him out the door with a big sigh.
Meanwhile, Ivan called Max and asked, more like ordered him to come to the house opposite to his own but asked him to enter in a subtle way.
He didn't want his neighbors to see Max tagging along just because he didn't like meeting new people. With Max by his side, he felt safe and somewhat less snappy.
Ivan entered the neighbor's house, eyeing two alien themed bicycles curiously on his way. He was greeted by a delicious aroma of fried rolls, which made him cautiously sniff the air. He hoped no one would catch him doing so.
"Ivan, is that you?" a cheerful voice grabbed his attention. He noticed a tall woman rushing towards him with a grin. She embraced him in a warm hug, similar to the one he had gotten by the twins yesterday. He frowned at this and stepped back awkwardly.
"You've grown so--"
Eleanor continued but stopped midway when the twins glared at her warningly, and a look that said "zip-your-mouth-mom!"
She quickly composed herself and stretched out her hand towards a confused Ivan who shook it warily and gestured towards the pie.
"My mother asked me to give it to you," he said awkwardly, shuffling his hands together, clearly at discomfort.
"Have a seat, sweetheart," Eleanor offered with a smile and beckoned the twins towards her.
"He's so hot!" she squealed, eyeing a dreamy Elena and a bored Kate. Ivan heard it as well and smirked to himself. This was nothing new.
"So, are you and my girls, friends?" Eleanor asked, hoping to break the awkward silence while plating the freshly made rolls. This earned more warning glares from the twins.
"Mom, someone's at the door," Elena spoke with a tight smile, literally pushing her mother towards it. She eyed Ivan carefully, who was busy looking at the door.
Quickly, she removed the freshly made rolls and replaced them with the two special ones, grinning at the result. She mouthed "ready" to Kate who then sauntered to join her mother.
"Who are you?" Eleanor was heard asking at the half-open door.
"Sorry, um, I thought this is my friend's house. I should get going," Max said with a sheepish grin, noticing Ivan mouth "fool".
"Mom, this is our classmate, Max" Kate answered. "Come on in," she grinned way too cheerfully, slinging her long sleeved arm over his shoulder as if they were best buddies.
"You're the worst actor I've ever seen," she whispered to him while gesturing him to have a seat next to a glaring Ivan. He noticed the looks passed between the twins and felt that something was wrong.
"Will you have some rolls, Van and Max?" Elena asked innocently, placing the plate with only two rolls on it before them.
"Not hungry," Ivan declined, looking at the roll with suspicious, blue eyes.
"Oh come on, try it. Don't be shy!" Eleanor encouraged them, pausing in between her nonstop talks with a very cheerful Cloe.
"These look delicious," Max said with a grin, and literally slurped in front of them. He didn't even notice the "I'll-kill-you as-soon-as-we-leave" look Ivan had passed to him and grabbed one roll greedily.
"What's this? This is um, delicious and so crunchy. So many... unique flavors," he said, nodding in approval, his green eyes half closed in delight.
Kate looked at Elena with surprise and whispered, "Have you offered him the good one?" The latter just shook her head, signaling that she hadn't made a mistake.
Ivan reluctantly took a roll for himself and took a bite. The first thing he tasted was the horrible mixture of a highly salty chocolate syrup, uncooked cauliflower, brinjal and capsicum bits, which made him want to puke his guts out.
"Max!" Ivan called as he glared at his bestie. "How do you find these disgusting rolls delicious? Are you out of your mind?"
Ivan choked on his own saliva, which tasted disgusting after eating the "God-forbid-roll". His face turned red, and his blue eyes started to water in horror to what he had eaten.
"These are not crunchy, these vegetables are RAW!" Ivan explained angrily to a dumbfounded Max.
"Whatever, but I liked it. Give me the recipe, okay?" Max chuckled, and the twins looked at him as if he was an alien.
Ivan drank a glass of water quickly, licking his lips, still horrified at what he had eaten. He hated all those vegetables with a passion and glared at the twins who were trying their best not to laugh openly at him.
"Max?" Ivan called. His cold, blue eyes raged with immense annoyance, while his perfect pink lips were pulled into a grin. All in all, he looked comical yet angry.
He grabbed the collar of his bestie's shirt and yanked him towards the exit, nodding towards a chattering Eleanor on his way out. Before leaving, he glared murderously at the beaming twins and noticed Elena's airy kiss.
The twins finally burst into laughter, holding their sides and grinned in pure glee, high-fiving each other over their victory.
