Prologue

Once upon a time, in the magical land of equestria, there lived a race of magical creatures called wendigos. In the beginning, many wondered what exactly the wendigos were, and what they meant. At first, many thought them to be a beautiful and graceful race of benevolent creatures.

Unfortunately, not all magical creatures are necessarily good. Some can be horrific, and in the case of the wendigos this was certainly no exception. The creatures soon revealed themselves to be a spiritual reckoning; a bad omen. Some believe that the creatures’ very souls were ice cold, others believed that they were but blank voids.

In truth, the creatures were soulless beings that fed on disharmony. Before the founding of Equestria, the wendigos thrived on the bad blood between the three pony races, finding it a divine delicacy. Their ferocious power continued to grow, and in turn: the once prosperous lands of Unicornia, Pegasopolis, and Ponyville were plunged into an eternal winter of harsh cold and snow.

Luckily, soon after Equestria’s founding when they returned to strike, they were defeated by the legendary heroes Cherry Shadow, Sky Arrow, and Moondust. Using a magical artifact known as the Scroll of Harmony, the wendigos were banished into time and presumed dead. However, they were not killed. They were only imprisoned.

With the wendigos assumed dead, the land of Equestria transitioned into a time of peace, and the wendigos slowly faded into legend. Everypony had forgotten the past, as they were now concerned with a new threat that loomed; a war between the two main powers of the time. These two were the Celestial Empire and the Mystic White.

The Mystic White vastly outnumbered the Celestial Empire. In a last ditch effort to save themselves, the Celestial Empire reluctantly signed the Copper Horn Concordant. This placed the Celestial Empire under Mystic White law, and forced the ponies to give up belief in their gods, leaving them to adopt the gods of the Mystic White. This outraged the many citizens of the Celestial Empire, as to them it was a declaration of surrender, and cowardice. Many began to rebel against their own friends and soon a new faction was formed. Led by the Empress’ younger sister Luna, The New Lunar Republic promised to return Equestria to it's once former glory.

The nation of Equestria is now on the verge of Civil War, with each side lashing out at the other with everything they’ve got. Many speculate that it won't be long before total war begins. Will the Celestial Empire stay strong or will they fall to the New Lunar Republic?

The future of Equestria, the future of the world, now rests on one pony. Her name; Velvet Dawn
