It Was NOT Nice Meeting You

April 8, 2018

Byun Baekhyun didn't care much for change. He was content with his repetitive routine that gave him stability and comfort when knowing what was to come.

His life was simple. A walk in the park. A piece of cake.

And everyday was the same. He woke up everyday for work — Monday through Friday — at precisely eight a.m. He dressed in one of his three black suits that only varied slightly in style, and meticulously choose a tie that would best accommodate both his attitude and his suit. He would eat a bowl of cereal as he relaxed — or as much as Byun Baekhyun could ever allow himself to relax — before cleaning his dish and heading out at eight-thirty on the dot to his soon-to-be CEO job at his brother's music record company, named Byun Records.

Even with his work, he never excepted anything but the absolute best. He demanded perfection in everything, and would soon rather throw away his work position than receive anything but — and mind you, Baekhyun loved being in control.

Some may call that being a "control freak", but Baekhyun liked to see it as being someone who took pride in everything one did. He never wanted to be anything but perfect. He never wanted to slip back into his old habits, so therefore, he pushed himself to always be the best. To always do the best.

And on the days Baekhyun wasn't working, he always went to his favorite coffee shop and had the same black coffee and sat in the same exact seat as each and every other day before that.

He never broke routine and nothing ever changed. Until on one sunny Sunday afternoon, things did.

His usual and familiar seat at his coffee shop was taken by a big eared, long legged giant with a head full of silver locks.

Baekhyun sipped at his coffee for a moment, eyeing the giant man, taking in his disheveled appearance. He had on an overly big gray hoodie with jeans sporting rips in the knee, and his silver hair was a tousled mess from the wind — or maybe from a lack of grooming?. He was so untidy looking, compared to Baekhyun's Calvin Klein white knitted sweatshirt and skinny — but not too tight — light blue jeans, and his hair, that was perfectly styled and a light honey blonde color.

Baekhyun sipped at his coffee once more before saying, "Excuse me, but you seem to be in my seat."

The man glanced up lazily and gave Baekhyun a once over, his eyes lingering and moving too slowly up the length of his body. Baekhyun's eyes narrowed and he snapped, "Pervert! My eyes are up here!"

The giant man just chuckled and muttered, "So I see. And what was it about this being your seat? I didn't see a name, so meaning it isn't yours."

Baekhyun huffed in frustration. He hated conflict. He hated change. And he was beginning to hate this giant as well.

"Well, no shit, that would be called vandalism. What I mean is, I always sit there," Baekhyun explained.

The man just shrugged, an amused grin upturning one corner of his mouth. "Alright, then, what an interesting fact. And how about, now bare with me, you find somewhere else to sit for today, being that I'm already sitting here."

Baekhyun's eyes narrowed and he simply said, "No."

The man's eyes widened slightly and he laughed before saying, "Oh my God, seriously? Why does sitting here matter so much to you? Does this certain table have sentimental value, maybe?" He laughed again.

Baekhyun's eyes narrowed even further, and impulsively, without thinking about what he was about to do, Baekhyun slammed his coffee down onto the table before shoving the man back against his seat and planting himself on the stranger's lap. In a low voice, Baekhyun growled, "This is my seat."

Silence.

That's all they heard after Baekhyun forcefully planted himself into this stranger's lap. And horrifically, he couldn't seem to command his body to move. He sat frozen for what felt like eternity, but was really only minutes, before this stranger took it upon himself to move his hand and place it with brush stroke like delicateness onto Baekhyun's waist. And that simple, yet not at all touch, is what finally brought Baekhyun back to his senses.

He knew his cheeks were a fire ball red as he sprung off that strangely comfortable lap and stuttered.

Stuttered!

Byun Baekhyun never, ever stuttered a day in his life — not since before. Byun Baekhyun had never ever had a chance to be embarrassed in his life — not since before. And now! Here he was, experiencing both of those things together! And all because of this big eared, messy giant.

Baekhyun shook away the nerves and yelled, "Excuse you, but just who the hell do you think you are!?"

The man laughed, and when upon seeing that Baekhyun was being serious, he suddenly stood up — now looming over Baekhyun — as he retorted, "I think I'm Park Chanyeol, and you sir, just surprised and excited the shit out of me."
