AWARD CATEGORIES II

Here is a list and broad explanation of the non genre categories.

With these categories, we want to give readers a chance to participate too so we decided that these non genre categories will be done by nomination.

Readers will nominate a book in each category and books with the highest number of nominations will become the nominees for the different categories.

The Awards Team will go through the nominated books (nominees) and pick one winner.

THE NON GENRE CATEGORIES

#1 The African Child
Here, we expect to see books featuring African children or teenagers that have gone through a lot. The African child should be a character that we can learn a lesson from. A character we can love, a character we can hate. It doesn't have to be the main character.

#2 The African Woman
We should all be familiar with this one. In Africa, a woman is a jewel, a woman is precious. The African woman could be a mother. A typical African mother. A woman we can learn from. A woman with character and African sense and style.

#3 Brown Skin Girl
All the female teenage girls this is the award for you 😂. Where is that girl character you love so much? She's fierce, she's shy, she's talkative, she's quiet, she's notorious, she's cool headed, we want to meet her! You'd mostly find This Brown Skin Girl character in teen fiction but all genres are welcomed!

#4 S. W. A. G
S. W. A. G = Something We Africans Got!
This category is solely dedicated to showcasing the African culture and style. We want to see that African environment and setting. We want to see that African language. That typical African highschool setting or typical Africa town / village. What is it like in an African home? We want to know!

#5 Foreign Africana
All those African writers who had the guts to write a foreign story, where are you? Being an African writer and writing a foreign story is very difficult and most of them don't get acknowledgement or recognition for their bravery. Yes, writing a foreign story is bravery! So this is where we nominate those brave writers.

#6 Best in Western Africa
This is where we award that story that stood out and represented a west African setting and culture.

#7 Best in Southern Africa
This is where we award that story that stood out and represented a Southern Africa setting and culture.

#8 Best in Eastern Africa
This is where we award that story that stood out and represented an eastern Africa setting and culture.

#9 Best in Northern/Central Africa
This is where we award that story that stood out and represented a Northern or Central African setting and culture.

Please this is not where you nominate stories. Do not nominate any stories here.
