Twenty Seven

Hello again Happy late halloween and early thanksgiving everyone. Anyway I'm planning on maybe starting another Bensler story. Keep passing this one on and  I'll think on another story. If you all have any ideas let me know.

The triplets have been home for around two months and Liv was just getting back to normal duties. Their new babysitter Lucy was adoring them as well as Eli and Ethan. Maureen and Kathleen often helped when they weren't busy with their own homework in college. Lizzie and Dickie were stopping by after school to discuss their graduation party. Even though it wasn't for like seven months away, they wanted time to prepare everything.

Everything was going great, except for the fact that Kathy had almost had an overdose and died two months ago. If Elliot hadn't have went over to discuss Eli and his wanting to spend time with his mother, Kathy would probably be dead. Every time Elliot went to the hospital to talk to her, she would act out causing him to be forced out. She knew exactly what she was doing to avoid talking.

Elliot went to the hospital the moment Kathy had woken up, all the kids apart from Eli with her. All he wanted to do was figure out why she had done that. What could he do to help? However, it looked like she didn't want anything to do with him anymore. He knew he cheated and had a baby with a random woman. Something that he doesn't even remember doing clearly, but he did at one point love Kathy to no end. Didn't that count for something? Instead of letting him talk to her, she told Maureen to tell him, with him clearly hearing her speak, to tell him to leave her alone.

"What about Eli?" Elliot asked, shocked.

Kathy didn't turn to Elliot when she spoke. She looked straight at Maureen and said, "Tell your father that he can file for sole custody of him. I'm not going to fight to keep him."

Maureen looked at her father, mouth open about to speak. Elliot held a hand up to stop her. Hearing it the first time was enough. He couldn't believe that the woman that he use to love would give up on her child. What was it all about?

He left after that. He couldn't stand staying around and watching the woman slowly fade in the hospital bed. The doctor had told him what they were going to do, and possibly what was going on. Since the rape, she developed PTSD and every time she left the house she would have flashbacks to the rape. Drugs became the only way to deal and then overdose was imminent. She was suffering from not only PTSD though, but anxiety, depression, and suicidal tendencies. The doctor told Elliot before he left that he was getting her transferred to the physic ward.

Elliot was upset at the fact that such a brilliant and loving mind was so torn up from what happened to her that she started to use drugs and had to be in a ward. The kids didn't like it either. Especially since she didn't want them to visit. She transferred the house to Elliot and all her possessions to the kids.

"El, I don't like it," Liv stated one night after all the kids had been put to bed finally.

They were in their room getting ready for bed. Elliot, shirtless and brushing his teeth before bed. He walked into the bedroom, toothbrush wet with paste, waving it around. His mouth foaming like a rabid dog. Liv was already in bed reading a book on parenting. She already had a head start on it because of Eli and Ethan. Elliot didn't really understand why she wanted to read more parenting books.

"I don't either, but there isn't anything I can do. She's made her choices. I'll clean up the house and move everything out that the kids want then rent it out to a family." He disappeared in the bathroom and reemerged looking fresh and with no toothbrush. He kissed Liv's cheek as he crawled into bed next to her. She smiled at him and put her book on the nightstand.

The next day started the process of cleaning out the house. Kathy had let a lot of stuff go since the rape. It was a little sad to see the house that four out of five of his children had grown up in in such poor shape in so little time. However, knowing that he could make it new again and give another family a chance at memories empowered him.

Cragen had let him take off early to start the cleanup process with his kids. He offered for Liv to go early too, but she declined. She was enjoying be back on full duty a little too much. "I'll be fine, El. Just go, enjoy cleaning up with the kids." Liv had insisted on Elliot leaving her at work.

In fact, she nearly pushed him into the elevator. Cragen had grinned at the entire scene as Liv went back to her desk to answer a phone call from the corner on a case. "Liv, what is your take on Kathy's giving up all her possessions?" Cragen asked as she hung up a few minutes later.

She sat back in her chair and started clicking her pen. It was a habit she did when she was thinking and nervous. "Well, clinically, she's most likely thinking of committing suicide," Liv said seriously.

"You think Kathy would do that?" Cragen asked as Munch and Fin walked in accompanied by a tall dark skinned man. The man took one look at Liv and smirked at her.

"What's up girl? How you doing?" He asked, trying to be slick. Fin gave him a shove into an open interview room. Liv shook her head and grimaced at the man as he walked by, not taking his eyes off Liv.

Cragen watched them go before refocusing on Liv. "Honestly, I don't know. She went through something horrible. Her mind is having a hard time processing it."

"Maybe," Cragen said, nodding. "I just hope that we don't have to attend a funeral for Kathy anytime soon."

"Me too, Captain. Me too."
