Halloween
I smiled at my costume as I looked in the mirror, extremely satisfied with the way it turned out. My costume was a US colonial uniform and I had sewn everything, from the jacket to the trousers. I honestly couldn't wait to show it off. As I was admiring my work in the mirror, I saw Gabriel come up behind me, a smile on his face.
"What costume is that?" Inquired he, raising an eyebrow. I spun around, quickly admiring his good looking- but clearly store bought- Thor costume before answering.
"It's a US colonial uniform. Do you like it?" I asked in response, striking a silly pose. He chuckled and gave me a light kiss on the cheek.
"You are such a dork. Buy yes, I do like it," He said, kissing my lips. I laughed.
"Hey, I'm not one wearing a Thor costume, dork," I retorted. He planted a hand on his chest, displaying mock hurt.
"Touché," He said, then glanced at the clock. "But I do believe it's time for the party. Shall we?" He asked, stretching out his hand in a gesture that suggested I should take it. I smiled and grabbed his hand, soon feeling the world shift around me. By now I had gotten used to teleporting with Gabe, but it was still a bit unsettling to do. My hand clenched his just slightly harder, but the spinning world soon halted, my vision quickly focusing to see a fairly large house, decked out in Halloween decorations.
"This must be it," I muttered, gulping slightly. Halloween wasn't exactly my favourite holiday- okay, it was my least favourite- but I had come to this party simply because my friend asked me to. I couldn't say no to my friend, so I obliged. Gabe looked at me, a caring smile on his lips as he squeezed my hand in reassurance.
I took a deep breath and stepped forward, ready to get this over with. The front of the house was decorated with fake gravestones and spiderwebs. There were some hands sticking out of places in front of the stones, as if they were rising from the dead. Fog that was clearly from a fog machine drifted lazily across the scene. I walked toward the front door, trying to conjure up some sort of confidence within me.
Gabe and I arrived at the front door with little hassle, and I knocked loudly. From the music blaring, I knew that it was likely that I needed a loud knock.
The door flew open and a ghost suddenly popped in front of my face, making me jump back and a yelp to escape my lips. I cursed under my breath at my friend's laughing face, and pushed away the paper ghost. I gave her a curt smile and continued into the house, Gabe trailing close behind me.
The first thing I noticed was the decorations. Like the front yard, spiderwebs hung in suspicious places, paper ghosts and fake spiders were situated around the house in a way that made me look around any corner before I rounded it. I gulped, quietly grabbing Gabriel's hand in mine. He stepped closer to me and pressed a kiss to my temple, whispering in my ear.
"We can leave whenever you want, just remember that," He reassured me. I smiled softly at him.
"Thank you," I responded quietly. I decided that food might calm my nerves, as it always did. (Yes- I know. Not a good habit. Shut up.) After asking a random and clearly drunk party goer, I learned that the food was out on the patio.
However, I quickly lost my appetite at the sight of the food. Most of it was shaped like body parts. Finger cookies, brain dip, and the like. I repressed the urge to vomit. Glancing around, I realised that I had lost Gabe in my search for food, as he was no where to be seen. I gulped, but convinced myself that I could go on.
I looked outside to see the silhouette of a man that was hanged on a tree. Unconsciously, I chewed on the inside of my cheek, only noticing when I felt the metallic taste of blood in my mouth.
The next thing I noticed was the very limited array of costumes that people wore. The ladies seemed to all be wearing the most revealing costume on the market, complete with heels that gave them an extra five inches of height. I suddenly felt self conscious, looking down at my homemade outfit and wondering if this was the best option.
Then I thought of Gabe, and my throat tightened. What if after seeing all these girls, he decided that he wanted someone like them? What if I wasn't enough for him in my dorky costume? I felt tears pricking at my eyes. What if that was what he was doing right now- making out with one of these girls?
I clutched the edge of the wooden table, the hard surface doing nothing to alleviate my sudden rush of fear. All of a sudden every single noise in that house was ten times louder, and yet I couldn't understand any of what was happening. My heart sped up, eyes darting across the room for a familiar face. Nothing. I realised that I knew only a few friends and Gabe here- and no one else.
I stumbled into the grass of the backyard, air suddenly escaping my lungs. I just wanted to go home. I just wanted to cuddle with Gabe right now. But heaven knows what he's doing right now.
I found myself sitting at the base of a tree- the one with the fake man that had been hanged- and pulled my knees up to my chest. The music was less deafening out here, and the overall noise level was way down. It was almost quiet- almost.
I buried my head in my arms, feeling the tears slip down my cheeks. This was not what I wanted to happen right now, but I couldn't help the tears or the violent shaking. I was scared. But dammit, I was a hunter and I wasn't supposed to be scared! I've faced worse!
But deep down I knew it wasn't just the decorations or the food. It was the prospect of losing Gabe. It was the thought that all these other girls probably looked way more appealing that I did. I felt more tears begin to fall. I wouldn't blame Gabe if he left me tonight. I would leave me too.
"Hey Sugar, what are you doing out here all alone?" My head snapped up at the sound of that familiar voice, my eyes focusing to see Gabe smiling softly down at me. I quickly wiped the tears from my cheeks and eyes, but knew that he had already seen them. He kneeled down next to me, cupping my cheek in his hand and kissing me lightly.
"What's wrong? I've been looking all over for you," He said. I hiccuped, holding back more tears. God- I probably looked like such a crybaby right now. I looked away, not sure if I was ready to answer his question. I felt him sit next to me, wrapping an arm around me. I leaned into his embrace, resting my head on his chest. I decided that it would probably be best to be honest with him. I didn't want to hold this in forever.
"I can't do this. The decorations and the food... It's too scary! But I shouldn't be scared! I'm a friggin hunter and I shouldn't be scared of this crap! And it's not just that, it's-" I stopped myself. Gabe raised an eyebrow.
"What?" Asked he. I caught myself chewing the inside of my cheek again, and stopped.
"I-it's just that... W-what were you doing before you found me? Be honest, please," I begged. He seemed slightly taken aback by my question, but answered nonetheless.
"Well, I had stopped to grab some candy from one of the bowls lying around, and when I looked up, you were no where to be seen. I then spent the next, like, ten minutes looking for you," He said. I sighed, and he caught the apprehension in me. He gently grabbed my chin, tilting my head to look at him.
"Look in my eyes, and tell me that I'm lying," He said. I did as he asked, and found nothing but honesty. A smile soon found its way onto my features.
"I love you," I whispered. He smiled as well.
"I love you too, Sugar," He responded, leaning in so his nose touched mine. "Always will," He added, then kissed me. I kissed him back with all I had, trying to convey all my love for him in that one kiss.
When we broke apart, we were both silent, staring into each other's eyes and completely content. His whiskey orbs were alight with a desire I hadn't seen before in him, his irises slowly becoming less visible as his pupils dilated. He leaned in and kissed me again, a little more forceful, though I had no objections. In fact I kissed him back with equal force, my fingers finding his hair and running through it. His arm snaked around my waist, pulling me even closer to him.
"I know you were worried about those other girls. I want you to know that I'm yours, and only yours," He whispered against my ear. I kissed him once more.
"That's good to know," I responded.
"Hey love birds! The party's almost over! Come inside for your last chance at candy!" My best friend called from the door wall, making both Gabe and I look up. I could see his features light up, he looked at me with bright eyes, and I smiled.
"Let's go get some candy," I said. He jumped up not a second after the words left my lips, pulling me up with him. I was so lucky to have him.
A/N Hello my lovely readers! I hope you enjoyed this chapter, but now I have a question for you! I would like to know if there is a certain event you would like to hear the story of, like Christmas or the Fourth of July. Or things like the weirdest date Gabe's taken me on, or our favorite prank on the Winchesters. I've already got things covered like his proposal (ermahgersh amiright?? Don't worry, it's not really that glamorous haha) and stuff like that. But if there's something specific you would like to hear about, tell me! I love you all! ❤️
