50-Eat Cake Die Young

After Locket left promptly at midnight Peep put her vial of tears in an old cigar box of keepsakes he kept hidden on the top shelf in his closet. When Liza asked they'd be seeing Emma again Peep explain how she needed to go home--suddenly. He wasn't lying. He hated lying. How could he lie to his mom? His number one fan?

As the years went by. Peep poured himself into his music. He had so much emotion and passion it needed to go somewhere. People resonated with him. His lyrics spoke for the young and broken-hearted. He wrote a song called "Ghost Girl," about a girl who ghosted him... she vanished. He missed Locket everyday. He added to the tattoos she'd gifted him with until he was covered in them.

He began to become cult-famous. His videos blew up on YouTube and his concerts sold out everywhere. His infectious grin never left him but in his heart of hearts he was grieving. He grieved for the love of his life and no matter how much fame, popularity and money he'd attained it didn't fill that hole in his heart.

After he moved to LA Liza worried about her boy every day. She was proud of him but worried that stardom might take away his inner light. Peep would call his mother every night but it wasn't the same. As his 21st birthday approached he knew he had a decision to make. This pressing decision never left him.

Rumors circulated that Peep did too many drugs. People can be so cruel. Trolls can hide behind their twitter feeds and Instragam posts. Peep, on the other hand, had to be the young exhilarating superstar and the pressure never let up. His true fans adored him and he wanted to set the best example for them. Some days he needed a boost just to make it through another tour, another concert.

He tried to run the race with grace and dignity. Sometimes he'd win; sometimes he'd lose. Yet every week his label wanted more and more out of him. They squeezed blood from a stone. After all, Lil Peep was their ticket. They'd attached themselves to a shooting star. Lil Peep was going places and they'd ride the wave with him.

Lil Peep loved his music and he loved his fans but he loved Locket more. On his 21st birthday he got his final tattoo. It reminded him of his last night with Locket. It said, "Eat Cake Die Young" and went directly across his forehead.

When he went home to Long Island for a visit he took the blue crystal vial out of the cigar box and put it into the front pocket of his skinny jeans.

It was late at night and Liza was asleep. He kissed his mother on the cheek and she woke up. "Peep is that really you?"

"Yeah ma... I wanted to say hello and goodbye."

Liza sat up in bed. "Are you going on another tour? You need to rest sometimes. Take a break son."

"I don't wanna talk about tours ma. I just wanna sit here with you." Peep scooted next to his mother.

"Can I make you some tea Peep?"

"Sure ma."

Peep followed his mother into the kitchen. Taz and Hello kitty followed them. As they drank green tea Peep was dying to ask his mother a question. "Do you believe in fairies?"

Liza held her steaming mug of tea in two hands and tilted her head. "Huh?"

"Ma, I know it's a silly question. But do you? Do you believe in fairies? Otherworlds? Other realms?"

"It's not a silly question. Of course I do! Look at all that crazy stuff that happened to you when you were a kid! Your hair! The appearing and disappearing tattoos! My entire house got painted periwinkle blue overnight!"

"Oh yeah..." Peep smiled slyly. "Those were some crazy times."

Liza put her hand on top of Peeps. "Those were the best times."

"I can't stay long ma. I just wanted to see you. To say, 'I love you' and 'thanks.''

"I love you too Peep. Thanks for what?" Liza brushed the pink hair from Peep's eyes.

"For always believing in me." Peep hugged his mother and left his childhood home. If he stayed another minute he'd tell her everything.

After Peep's final concert he went to his hotel room and scribbled a note on the tiny notepad that's in the desk. Next he opened the vial of Locket's tears. Looking into the mirror across from the bed he read the words on his forehead, Eat Cake Die Young. "It's what people will think... but my life is only just beginning."

He drank the contents of the vial and became very sleepy. As he laid back on the hotel pillow he closed his eyes. When he opened them he saw his beloved Locket--his Emma.

The note simply read:

*These eyes have seen the strangest things
Passin' by, no one noticed my angel wings

I love you all.

Lil Peep

-End of Chapter 50-
