The Fairy Queen looked pleased when Locket's Ladies in Waiting returned with the rescued fairies. She decreed that no fairy ever go near the Fairy Underworld or they would forever be banished into The Ocean of Screams. No one wanted that. No one had ever been there but it sounded vast and dreadful.

Locket had been locked up in her chambers with 3 of the lamest maids she'd ever met. They barely spoke above a whisper, curtseyed far too often and merely fetched her things. Locket thought she'd be better off with a cocker spaniel, a beagle and a pomeranian for at least puppies are cute.

When Ursula, Gertrude and Eunice appeared at her door Locket burst out in tears. Eunice filled up 3 more vials with her shiny blue tears.

They dismissed the temporary maids and explained how her mother had reinstated them to be her FLW. (Forever Ladies in Waiting.)

Locket hugged them tightly apologizing for taking them for granted. She promised to never do it again. "You're my forever friends! Will you please forgive me?"

Of course Eunice, Ursula and Gertrude forgave Locket for they loved her as if she were heir own daughter.

Locket noticed each of them wore a medal for bravery. She beamed with pride for each of her little mothers.

Nervously Locket asked, "Will I ever get to leave Fairy Palace?"

Gertrude spoke up. "I'm afraid not Princess. Your mother is dead set against it."

Locket teared up. "She doesn't trust me."

Eunice put an arm around Locket. "Do you blame her dear?"

Locket shook her head. "Not entirely... but what will happen to my Peep? He'll forget about me."

Ursula tried to sound positive. "Oh I don't think so... Let's put our heads together. 4 heads are better than one!"

Gertrude added, "And who knows maybe your mother will change her mind."

Many months went by and the Queen Mother did not change her mind. Then years went by and  Peep began forgetting about Locket except in his dreams. He'd have the same dream over and over about a magical blue fairy who gave him tattoos and took him on all sorts of wacky adventures. When he first woke up it all seemed so real. After he brushed his teeth the dream faded. He believed he got his tattoos from some friend of a friend at a party he snuck out to. Nothing made sense except his music. So he practiced, wrote awesome lyrics and stayed mostly to himself.

When Locket turned 16 her mother said she could have whatever she wished, except for becoming human.

Locket loved being a fairy. She never wanted to become a human forever. However there was a human she missed terribly. "May I visit Peep one last time?"

Locket's mother cocked her head. "Daughter I have given you the keys to the kingdom and all you wish for is to visit your human boy?"

"It is all I'll ever wish for my mother.Could I be granted 12 hours to spend with Peep on his 13th birthday?"

"Do you promise to return within the allotted 12 hours?"

"Oh yes mother, yes!" Locket tried to remain young lady-like but inside fireworks were going off. She burst like a confetti cannon!

When it was the night before Peep's 13th birthday Locket's mother invited her into her private chambers. "Lock the door Locket. Come sit next to me." The queen patted her royal purple round bed. There were see through silvery curtains encircling the bed.  The shimmery curtains reached 20 feet in length and attached to an ornate red ceiling of sculpted roses.

When Locket was a baby fairy her mother would enclose the curtains and Locket was free to fly inside the vast cylinder area.

"Locket, I have another surprise for your birthday."

"Will I still get to visit Peep. You didn't change your mind did you mother?"

"No daughter. You shall visit your Peep but  I've decided to transform you into a human girl for the day."

"What????"  Locket grabbed her mother about the neck. "You are the best mother--ever!"

The queen laughed. "Am I the best mother because I grant your wish?"

Locket became serious. "No mother, because you love me with all your heart."

"I'm glad you're realizing this daughter. I only want what's best for you."

"Then you'll allow Peep and I to be married one day?"

The Queen Mother sighed, "I didn't say that..."

Locket protested, "But Mother he has the brothel mark!"

The Fairy Queen nodded slowly and seriously. "Yes he does."

"It means we're meant to beeeeeeee!" Locket zoomed around inside the bedded cylinder leaving blue fairy lights behind the silvery curtain.

"Daughter, sit down." The queen ordered.

Locket obeyed.

She reached behind the nape of Locket's dress and placed a tiny fairy coin inside a hidden pocket. "Once you are safely in front of Peep--and Peep alone press on the coin and repeat the phrase, "Human for a half a day; magic coin keep the goblins away."

"Mother, will there be many things trying to harm me as a human?" Locket felt for the coin.

The Fairy Queen pushed Locket's hand away. "Don't touch the coin yet child! Yes... humans are the most vulnerable of all the 2 legged species.. However, with the coin you should be very safe"

"Mother, what shall I do if something goes terribly wrong?"

"Press the coin and repeat, 'there's no place like home, there's no place like home...'"

"Mother! You stole that like from The Wizard of Oz!"

The Fairy queen laughed then she became quite solemn. "Or child, did Dorothy steal it from the fairies?"

"Touche Mother! But what shall I wear once I'm human? My fairy dress will not suffice!"

"Daughter you'll be changed into a suitable frock as well."

"Mother, I don't want a suitable frock--I want trendy clothes!"

"Very well then Locket. A trendy outfit it shall be."

Locket smirked. "Oh mother you have no idea what trendy even means to a human!"

The Queen Mother pulled out a dozen fashion magazines from a special compartment under her bed.

The two of them had the best evening looking through fashion  magazines while eating hot buttery popcorn topped with multi-colored marshmallows and M&Ms. Picking Locket's human outfit would be their best mother-daughter event to date!
