33-Easter Eggs

On Easter Sunday Peep hadn't seen Locket since she bestowed the cloak of invisibility. In the meantime he'd become a somewhat of a superstar goalie on Coach Kim's unisex team: The Lovable Lions. Yes he hated the name and most of his teammates were anything but lovable. The game of intramural soccer was cutthroat. Peep believed the dads had an off track betting thing going. Why else would they get so mad if their little angel didn't "PASS THE BALL IDIOT?!"

Oskar was amazed at Peep's goalie skills. Very few balls got past his little brother. He studied him closely. It seemed as if Peep had a forcefield around him. When it came to blocking goals all Peep did hold was open his arms awkwardly and the balls bounced off of him.

Oskar asked, "How do you do it Peep? Sometimes you don't even make contact with the ball and it bounces away from the net."

"Leave him alone," Liza would say, "Peep's got ninja moves!

Oskar thought, "Yeah magical ninja moves." Then he asked his mother, "Hey let's film Peep"s next game. I wanna learn to be a goalie ninja like my little brother."

Peep knew he had to quit the team. If Locket didn't come up with a better plan soon The Lovable Lions were going to the playoffs.

He didn't need to worry about it today. Today was Easter Sunday. Peep thought how nice it was of Jesus to celebrate His resurrection with so much candy. Liza hid 300 pastel colored eggs every year. Each egg was filled with chocolate eggs, Nerds, Skittles, M&Ms and more! A few of the eggs even held money. Boy of boy Peep was thankful for Jesus.

After Peep's yellow and blue wicker Easter basket was overflowing he took his loot to his room to count the booty. He made his bed then made piles of the different types of candy. Afterward he and his brother would make trades and give Liza all the Almond Joys and Mound Bars. (She put those in there knowing they'd share!)

As Peep opened his final light blue egg, SURPRIZE! Locket flew out.

Peep exclaimed, "How'd you get in there? What if Oskar had picked you up?" And most importantly, "What did you do with my candy?"

Locket replied sarcastically, "Nice to see you too Peep!" Then she began walking among the piles of candy. "We have many more candy flavors in Fairy World."

"Yes you do but they're so tiny!" Peep wasn't in the mood for a game of, Who's World is Better.

Locket peeled back the pink foil on a Reese's peanut butter egg and took a bite. "Yummy!"

"Yummy?" Peep was aghast. "You've been gone for weeks and all you're gonna say is, 'yummy?'"

With her mouth full she answered, "Oh, how do you like the present I sent you? Did it fit?"

Astounded Peep asked, "Did it fit? DID IT FIT?!"

Locket began jumping on Peep's pillow as if it were a bouncy castle. "Yes... it's... a... simple... question..." She stopped jumping. "Did-it-fit?"

Peep stood up and began pacing in his small room. "Did it fit she asks? Did it fit?" He himself was having a fit.

Locket flew over to Peep. She tilted her head and asked, "Peep you seem upset. What's wrong?"

Peep plopped into his computer chair and grunted.

Locket remained clueless. "Peep didn't you get the right treats in your colored chicken eggs?"

Peep shook his head. He took a deep breath and tried to explain the disaster she'd gifted him. "Locket, those are Easter Eggs... and how would I know if the so-called gift you gave me fits? It's invisible! It gets stuck everywhere and I've almost been choked to death several times!"

"Oh my..." Locket placed her teensy blue hand over her teensy blue lips. "The cloak is adjustable. Didn't you read the label?"

Peeps eyes grew wide. If he were a cartoon steam would be shooting from his ears. "Adjustable? READ THE LABEL?!"

"Yes..." Locket suddenly realized the problem. "Oh dear... Human boys can't read invisible can they?"

Peep screamed. He screamed so loud Hello the kitten scooted under the bed and Taz the terrier ran upstairs barking his little head off. Oskar and Liza followed.

Liza jiggled the door knob. "Peep are you alright?"

Oskar spoke to his mom, "He probably just saw another centipede."

Liza objected, "With that blood curdling scream? I don't think so!" She turned the doorknob more violently. "Peep open up! Are you okay?"

Locket flew iside a pink pastel egg then magically snapped it shut.

As calmly as he could Peep opened his bedroom door. "What's up guys?"

Liza and Oskar rushed in. Lisa asked, "What's up? Why did you scream like that?"

Oskar looked at the candy loot on his bed. "He probably didn't get enough mini Snickers this year."

"No wise guy..." Ever since meeting Locket, Peep's storytelling abilities had grown by leaps and bounds. "I heard a family of rats gnawing inside the wall. Listen..." Everyone, including Taz, got really quiet. "Do you hear it?"

Oskar spoke up first, "I don't hear anything—"

Peep interuppted, "—Shhhhh... There is it! Ugh they're quiet now. Oskar's BO probably scared them away."

"Funny Peep. There is no family of rats. You probably saw a creepy little spider!"

Peep got in Oskar's face, "You're a creepy little spider."

Liza got between them. "All right boys... That's enough. It's Easter Sunday. He is risen."

Both boys replied, "He is risen indeed."

"Good." Liza breathed a sigh of relief. "Now get ready for church."

Oskar whined, "Do we have to?"

Peep answered, "Come on Oskar. We have to go. We're CEOs!"

Liza asked, "CEO's?"

"Peep chuckled. "Sure mom... We go to church on Christmas and Easter only. So we're CEOs.

Liza tussled Peep's hair. "Very funny. Boys be ready in ten minutes."

After Liza and Oskar left the room Peep began searching for Locket. "Locket? Locket, where are you?"

Peep heard a tiny echoing voice say, "Find me..."

Peep said, "I don't have time for games Locket. We're late for church."

She insisted, "Find me... I'll give you a hint. I'm in an egg."

Peep looked at his bed full of Easter eggs. He searched through dozens until he found a closed pink one with a little weight to it. He shook it. "Huh... could she be in here?" He shook it again.

Suddenly Locket popped out all dizzy and disheveled. She grimaced at Peep and said, "That's not nice."

Peep replied, "You aren't nice for leaving me with an oversized invisible cloak that's apparently adjustable?!"

After Locket's head stopped spinning she took out her glowing blue wand and turned the cape into a royal deep purple. "Oh my Peep..." She gasped. "You look marvelously majestic in that cloak."

Peep admired himself in the mirror. He did look like a little prince but he couldn't let Locket distract him. She was the princess of distractions. "Okay Locket show me how to adjust this thing."

Locket flew to Peeps collar. She pulled out the tag and read it, "To adjust the size pull the left string to make it smaller or pull the right string to make it larger. Dry clean only."

Peep followed the instructions. He pulled on the left string and the cloak shrunk to half size. He pulled on it again and it became a caplet barely covering his shoulders. "Huh... Would you look at that? Will it still work once it's invisible?"

"Of course," Locket answered. She waved her magic wand at the cape and it vanished.

Peep felt for the cape and sure enough it still draped around his shoulders. His pink hair and tattoos were still hidden by the cape's magic.

Peep muttered, "Would you look at that?"

"Look at what?" Locket giggled. "I don't see anything."
