7:Talking to my mother
"When can we rest?" Demetri whined with is high voice. For the past two days we have been riding none stop. We needed to reach Poka where we can get new supplies and rest. Also ever since we started riding Demetri has been complaining and whining in my ears whilst Heira asked to much questions about Greece. "Demetrius, stop complaining! You are driving me insane! We will rest once we reach Poka. Heira, what did you say?" Demetri's eyes got a fiery gleamed yet he kept his mouth. On the other hand Heida was beyond excitement. She forgave me or I hope so. "Do your father and you have more power then anyone in Greece and how strong is your army?" I sighed. Can she not wait untill after this quest? "We have the most power and our army is undefeatable." I gave her a proud smile. "That's cool, I guess." She laughed. In front of us Demetri stopped suddenly. With a concerned expression Heira rode towards him. I decided to ride behind them for I could still hear them clearly. "Demetri, what's the matter?" He looked at her, I could hear his heart beating fast. "I can't do it anymore. I need to sleep and my dragonsences tells me there's another presence amongst us. Please don't tell Alexander that I'm scared." Heira leaned over to him and gave him a hug. "Don't worry, little dragon. I won't tell him, let's just hope he's not listening." I was wounded to know my companions were to frightened tell me they are afraid. Was I that intimidating? Also what did he mean with another presence? I decided to go to them. When I arrived Demetri smiled. "How long untill the next town?" His eyes were tired. For once in my life I felt almost guilty. "We will be there in half a fortnight." He looked at me like I was insane. "Are you kidding me? How can I go strait for a week without rest. I want to sleep." I sighed. "Heira, do you also want to rest?" She nodded and looked away. "Fine, you may rest for two hours. I will keep watch." With grateful expressions they dismounted and layed on the ground. In a matter of seconds they were sleeping. I could not help but smile at how peaceful they seemed. I walked off into I direction and thought to myself. How is this going to end? Will I survive? Also, where will I get blood? I am so thirsty... My thoughrs wondered off. Suddenly something jumed in front of me. It took me by suprise and I almost screamed. When I saw it was nothing more than a deer. I laughed at my foolishness. Somewhere behind me Demetri growlded in his sleep. Demetri always slept as a dragon. I glanced at them and smiled. They would be save, I am sure of it. I will only be gone for a short time. I placed my hand on the ground and closed my eyes. I could not sence dragon spawn for thousands of miles. I was about to stand up when I felt a pressence. It was strong and near. How can it be? Behind me I felt something. In one swift move I held my sword at the creatures throat. "Alexander, my boy." I let go of my sword and stumbled back. In front of me stood the shade of my mother. A shade is like the shadow of a person which is sometimes left on earth when the person dies. I did not think my mother had one. "Mother?" I managed to stammer out. She smiled at me, but I could see her eyes held no emotion. "It has been too long. How is Amadeus?" It hurt to know she did not ask about my well-being. "The king is as healthy and unjust as always. What more, mother?" I said "mother" in a way that made it sound like an insult. She looked wounded. "My boy, why are you angry?" I growled. "I do not know." She touched my cheek. I could not feel her,"I have missed you and your firey temper. Did it get even worse?" She laughed at her words. "Dear mother, it seems that death did you well. How is it to be a shade?" Her smile faded. "Do you not long for me?" I looked at her. "Sometimes I do." A few feet hundred feet behind us, Heira talked in her sleep. I glanced at the two beings sleeping. My mother watched me. "You care for them, do you not?" I turned back to her. "That does not matter. Why did you come here, shade?" Her hollow eyes looked at me in concern. "I want to warn you. Alexander, your future helds pain and death. You must train untill you reach full power or all will we lost. Listen to the warnings and the signs." Her words troubled me. Pain and death? I do not like the sound of it. "How do you know this?" Her form started flickering. I grabbed her soulder to keep her here for a bit longer. "Tell me." She sighed and stroked my cheek yet I felt nothing. "The dead talks and so does the living. Being a shade means I can be in both places. The living world and death. Recently a lot of creatures have been talking about the powerful Alexander Hess traveling to the future. You made me proud. Goodbye, my son. Untill next time." Even with my grip on her she faded into nothing. I stood there, my arm still stretched out, looking into the darkness. Behind me someone breathed in my neck. "Alexander, what are you doing?" Heira interegated. I came back to reality and turned to face her. "I am watching for threats." She laughed, but it turned into a frown. "I thought voices woke me. When I woke up I saw someone with you. Then they just vanished. Who was it?" Her questions made me uncomfortable. "I did not talk to a person. You must have imagined it. Wake Demetri, I leave in five minutes." With that I stared for my horse.
