6: A Bull-man?

My blessing gave us an enormous advantage over time and distance. By dawn we had already reached a small town. I could see these people were poor. No matter how much I protested, Heire and Demetri insisted on stopping. "We need supplies for the journey and also I'm tired. We need to rest and eat." My lip curled up and I was glowering at the duo. "Who needs to eat all the time? I understand if you are tired, but what supplies do we need. Heira and I can both use magic." Heira glared at me. I realised it was the first time that she looked at me. "We are not immortal vampire-wizards! We are mortals and need food and rest to survive. Also I do't want to summon all my needs." I looked down for two reasons. One I was ashamed of being shelfish and two Heira made me furious. After a few minutes I calmed down and faced them. "My apologies. Do any of you have money to buy supplies?" Heira looked away so Demetri answered. "You're a prince, don't you have money?" How could I forget. My crown was still on my head and everyone could see who I am. Wait! I have dracmas. I took out a brown pouch which was hidden under my clothes. As I blew onto it, the pouch got heavier. When I opened it there were golden dracmas in it. "Take this pouch and buy what you need. When you are done give the pouch back or I will punish you. Also be on alert, I sence an evil in this place." Demetri took the pounch and he climbed off. Then he helped Heira to the ground. "I will wait for you at the main temple. Ask anyone they will know what you are talking about." I left them in the street and rode to the temple. There I met with the priest who I saw is actually a wizard. "I am old Procustus, the priest who sees the future. Aprouch and ask." I looked at his dark eyes and saw an sly gleam in his eyes. "Wizard, tell me what I am to meet in this town." He seemed shocked at first when he realised I knew was a wizard. "Are you a prince?" I pointed to my crown. "Yes, I am. Now tell me what you see." I put my hand on his shoulder and a vision appeared in my head.

Heira, Demetri and I were in a cave. It was dark and I could smell something rotting. Somewhere a mysterious creature growled. Beside me a shape appeared. It had the body of a bull, unfortunately I could see no further. "Who dares trespass in my home?" I growled in a low tone.

The vision ended and Procrustus looked at me in fear. "You!" I was confused. "What did the vision mean?" His brow furrowed and I could see the fear in his eyes. That sly expression gone. "What is the matter?" His lowerlip started to shake. I almost thought he was going to cry. "You are the one who will slay the Bull-man and later tge witch. Your future held great pain for you. Leave me before I also get cursed. Go kill the Bull-man and never return. Do not leave a curse here. Leave!" He shoved me towards the door. I did as I was told and fled out of the building. Outside Heira and Demetri were waiting for me. I must have looked sick since even Heira glanced at me witch concern. "What's the matter, Alex?" I grined my teeth together. "It is Alexander and we have a mission." They looked at me with curiosity. "What mission?" Demetri almost jumped up and down out of excitment. "We need to find the Bull-man and kill him." For the first time Heira looked glad. "Where is the beast? How will we kill it? How do you know we must do it?" I laughed, a clear joyful sound. "Not so many questions all at once alas I will answer them. The beast is in a cave and how we kill it, I do not know. For your last question, I saw it in a vision at the main temple."  They stared at me in amazement. "Awesome!" They yelled as one. I could not help but laugh at their reaction alas my grim expression returned when I remembered what Procrustus had told me. "What's wrong?" I stared into the horizon. Looking for something I did not know of. "It is nothing. Let us ask someone where the beast lives." I could see she did not believe me yet she said nothing. I walked to a young lady. "Where does the Bull-man live?" She bowed. "My Prince, he lives in the mountain cave. Give me the honour of taking you there." I glanced in my companions' direction. My expression was clear: this is effortless. They send me harsh glares. "Rise, girl. You may take us. First go get two horses for my companions and one for you. Say the prince send you." She gave me a grateful smile and ran off. I turned to my companions. "The girl will return with horses for her and the both of you." They still glared at me, but less harshly. "You really like to abuse your power over lesser beings, don't you?" I stared at her with an 'innocent' expression. "What do you mean?" Heira sighed and glared daggars. "You order everyone around and they have to listen since you are royalty." Her words wounded me. Before I could object to her statement, the girl appeared. She gave my companions their horses. "Thank you. What is your name?" The girl mounted her horse as did the rest of us. "My name is Dalla, and yours?" Heira rode up to her. "The name's Heira and this is Demetri. Good to meet you." Dalla gave a friendly laugh. "Come." I rode up to them beside Dalla. She seemed shocked that I would want to ride beside her. "My Prince, may I ask why you want to see the Bull-man?" What should I tell this stranger? Could I trust her? What if Casandra finds her. Too late did I hear Heira answer her. That woman is looking for trouble. "A man at the main temple saw it in a vision and told Prince Alexander that it is his fate to kill it. Whatever that means!" Dalla inspected me with new interest. "I have heard about the man who is destint to kill that monster. He is said to be a being of great power and supernatural appearences. It that true, my lord?" Her words shocked me. "Why should I tell yhou? I have no reason to trust you." I gave her a questioning smile. Dalla looked disappointed. "You can trust me. Please tell me what my lard is." I sighed and glanced at Heira. She reconised my expressiom. I want to be alone to think about my thoughts. "Dalla, Demetri, follow me. Let's give Prince Alexander some time alone to think on this subject." They rode foward in advance leaving me to myself. Why would everyone know about the prince who will slay the Bull-man? Can I trust anyone at this moment? Why us Dalla so willing to help us even if I, a prince, asked her? I looked where my companioms were. A few feet in front of me Dalla glanced behind her. When she saw me a smile appeared on her face. I did not like nor did I trust her. Yet against my whole being, I returned the smile. After a few minutes following them yet keeping a distance, I felt better. "Giddy-up, Naz." We ran towards my companion. As I reached them Heira glanced quickly in my direction on the other hand, Dalla was more than delighted to see me. Demetri was asleep in his horse, fortunately he did not fall. "Lord, why are you not in you palace?" Dalla interogated. She asks to much question. I do not find pleasure in talking to curious women from my age. Heira is an exception and Cassia was. "I ran away due to certain surcomstances which I do not want to speak of. How long untill we reach the cave?" Dalla smiled the whole time I talked. "We are here, Prince. Over the hill." As we reached the top I saw the mountain. It was really disappointing, because I have never seen such a small mountain before. Our palace was bigger than it.  "Why is it so tiny?" Demetri, who woke up, questioned. Dalla lifted her shoulders, showing she did not know. "Leave the horses. We must enter the cave on foot." We dismounted and followed the peasant girl. I saw the entrance on front of us. It was dark. Fortunately I could see in the dark. When we reached it I stopped. "Dalla, you must wait here." Her gaze darkened and for the first time I could see clearly through her. This woman is tortured daily by a man who is a dictator. "Why?" She snapped.  "Who is he?" Her brow furrowed showing her confusion. "What do you mean?" Her anger gone, replaced with confusion. "What is the name of the man who abuses you?" At first she seemed shock, but that soon turned into fury. "None of your bussiness! Also I will not stay behind!" My expressiom was not friendly and she remembered who I am. Tears welled up in her eyes,"Please forgive me, Prince Alexander! I did not mean to be harsh towards you!" She pleaded me to spare her life. "I will let you live if you stay behind." Immediatly she jumped out of joy. "Thank you,Prince! I will wait here. Be save!" The three of us left Dalla at the entrance. When we were a few feet into the cave, Heira stopped me. "Why are people so afraid of what one prince can do?" I glared at her. "I have power over everything except for my father. Do you not understand that I am prince over the whole of Greece?" She looked shocked. "I am glad I didn't live in these ages. People were horrible." I looked into the darkness. "Well, we were only truly civilized about a thousand years ago." Heira looked at me like I was insane. "Really?" I could not help but laugh at her expression. "At the begining of my father's life, he was a royal prince who was very voilent. As time passed people got better manners.  Now be quiet, I can hear another heart in this chamber." Suddenly a thing launched at me. If not for my speed, I would have beem run over. "Ligto." I whispered and the chamber lightened up. In front of me stood the strangest being. It had the body of a bull, but where it head should have been the chest of a man grew out. It looked like a centaur in the old myths except this thing was a bull. I should also mention that it had razor sharp teeth and claws. "Who are you, creature?" The monster asked me. I glared at him. "Creature? I am the prince of Greece! Bull-man tell me your name." For a moment he loomed frightened, but then he smile. "I am Taurus. Who is you companions?" He gestured towards Heira and Demetri with his hand. With one glance at them I turned back to him. "None of your concerns. I challenge you to a battle." He smiled as a sword in his hands. I could see the dark liquid dripping from the blade. Poison. "I accept. Powers are not allowed only our weapons and your special body parts." His fangs shined as he smiled. Fortunately I could use my speed, fangs, talons, bow and arrows and sword. Poor Taurus met his end. "Heira, Demetri, stay. This was my battle since the beginning." Demetri looked like he wanted to argue, but Heira held him back. "Thank you." I smiled at my companions. I took did not even take out my sword. My talons and fangs grew out and I charged Taurus. He dodged my first strike and stabbed at my stomach. I jumped back and and did a roundkick. Taurus stumbled back, his head bleeding. "Boy, you are very strong. Who are you?" I clawed at his chest. He stepped back, but too slowly. There was a deep gash in his chest,"The last person you will ever see." With one swift movement of my fist he layed on the ground. Still alive. "Disengrata." I whispered and he turned to ash. "Where did he go?" Demetri interegated. "I disentigrated him. Taurus is no more. Now come we must go. Dalla is waiting." I started walking away with Heira and Demetri on my heels. Outside the cave we thanked Dalla and left the town.
