"And Nidorino begins the battle with a horn attack " as a pink Pokémon who's on all fours with spikes over her body with a horn in head starting sprinting towards Gengar using horn attack but Gengar jumps back twice avoiding horn attack them jumps into air and goes behind Nidorino back , Nidorino turns back towards Gengar only to find Gengar using hypnosis and Nidorino falls asleep

 "this could be the end of nidirino , No wait trainer recalls his nidorino now which pokemon will trainer chose" announcer announces : oh it's a mighty onix and onix attacks using tackle but oh ho ho gengar dodges again " announcer finished 

Ash who's watching all this dressed in the clothes he will start his journey tomorrow and a with his signature cap he got after sending  one thousand pokecards. Ash suddently stands up and ake a fist with both his hands one above his nose and another near abdomen and says 

"I'm Ash, and i will learn all the wonders of Pokémon and become a Pokémon master " while grabbing his voltorb alarm clock with his right hand and putting his right hand straight in a fashion of releasing a Pokémon, just then the door opens and his mom Delia comes in and ash doesn't even notices her being in his own dream world 

"Ash get to bed" Delia said as ash gets startled by his presence and throws the voltorb clock at Delia who somehow manages to catch it easily and opens the lid and says  "it's 11:00 clock , you should be asleep" Delia says while holding his alarm clock in her hand which was up just above her shoulder

"but mom I'm gonna choose a pokemon tomorrow , i can't sleep? ash replies while flopping down on his snorlax plushie with his cap turned backwards 

"then watch something which will at least get you ready for tomorrow" Delia says sternly while taking the tv remote and turning it into a channel which was showing a recorded show which constraining of professor oak  "Good evening pallet , tomorrow is a new day for trainer who's starting their journey , this is bulbasaur as the screen turned into a Pokémon who's on 4 legs with a dark green bulb in the back ,the grass type starter ----" as the show continues delia makes her way out of the room while finishing with 

"Go to bed when this is done " delia finishes 

As soon as delia moves out of ash room she hears light snickering from another room down the corridor and Delia just moves outside the room she hears snickering from 

"Drake i know you're awake and you better sleep in next 30 minutes " just as delia says this the snickering ends 

during nighttime ash was having a very pleasant dream he was in professor oak lab and he has chosen his starter finally "i choose you bulbasaur " Ash mumble's in his sleep while throwing his right hand forward , the scene changes again, Ash tosses and turns in his band and suddenly his voltorb alarm clock drops in his right hands from on top of his bed and as the scene changes "i choose you charmander" ash mumbles again while sleeping and sitting in seating position and throwing his right hand breaking the poor voltorb alarm clock

"choose it or loose it " ash mumbles in sitting position while finally laying down again 

------------------------------------------------------------------Inside Yvonne Household 

"How can i ask him to take me on his journey . i don't even have a dream? , he might think I'm just a useless weight holding him down without any dreams, i don't want to do rhyhorn racing , why will ash take me on his journey? " this were the thoughts of serena who was twisting and turning in her bed with very mixed feelings about tomorrow ? if her crush was ging away from her 

grace was about to sleep when she hears some light sounds coming from serena room and when she moves outside her room her light was on and door unlocked , grace enters the room and sees her daughter tossing and turning 

"what's wrong serena" grace ask serena even though she knew what serena was thinking 

"nothing mom I'm just worried about tomorrow what if ---? serena replies to grace but grace just puts her hand in her face and says "don't give it much thought serena remember you are not alone you have your friends too and whatever happens you can always come back to your home there's nothing wrong in that " grace calmly finishes as she sits on serena bed while moving her daughter face in her lap and puts her hand in her face while turning off light and moves her hand in her hair in soothing way to get her sleep and it works like a charm as serena slowly but moves to sleep snoring lightly 

after serena is asleep grace has a flashback 

One day ash found serena in a park crying her heart out , little serena cheeks has tears strains and her eyes were dried and red from all the crying ,while she has a bandage on her nose covering her little scar, Ash instantly got worried and  tried to cheer her up , normally it do work but today it was different serena wouldn't stop crying no matter what 

"Serena what's wrong " ash asked serena looking at her 

"nothing is wrong ash" serena looked at him and signed ,she didn't want to drag ash into her mess that she herself can't solve "really" ash replied while raising an eyebrow 

ash knew it was about rhyhorn racing as there was days when she do come back while being sad about it and ash just cheered her up saying it will be over and your mom will understand eventually but it never happened, but ash knew today was different serena never really cried alone sitting on a part hiding from everyone and he knew it's gone too long now and too far now 

"come on serena tell me about it , i promise you we will solve this problem together" ash again insisted serena while sitting up from the bench standing Infront of her with a fist in front of his face "tell me serena . we are friends" 

hearing those words gave comfort to serena, ash has always been there for her from that day when they first met in camp till today and the promise of finding a solution together did it for serena  "it's just i don't want to be a rhyhorn racer like my mom "serena finally broke the silence and spoke in a whispering pattern "but i don't want to hurt mom too" as she looked at ash in a hopeful face hoping he do help her 

ash thought for a moment and looked her in her eyes "it's fine serena why don't you just tell her you don't want to be a rhyhorn racer ,I'm sure she will understand "

 serena looked at ash and signed it's not that she never tried to tell her but her nervousness and the thought of hurting her mom just made her not say it and keep going to make her mom happy  "it's not that i don't want her to feel hurt" serena finally spoke as tears were staring to form in her eyes again

seeing a fresh new set of tears ash put his hands in her face and wipes her tears "serena she's your mom she will understand , she loves you don't worry here's let's go together and tell her you don't want to be a rhyhorn racer i promise you i will be there with you, remember serena "Never give up until it's over" ash said while offering her his hand and asking her to stand up 

serena took his hand  and finally gave a smile "will you really go with me ash?" serena asked ash 

"yes i promised you i will stay by you don't worry" ash spoke looking into her face and grabber hand and pulled her up "now let's go "ash said as he started making his way towards Yvonne household 

(after a while they reach her house , the walk back to her home was silent as slowly serena started having double thoughts if this is the right thing to do she don't wanna upset her mom after all )

Outside her house rhyhorn was just laying down with his eyes closed enjoying the sun which was out , while fletchling was roosting on top of the house 

"no no no no no ononononono i can't do this " serena exclaimed just after they ringed the doorbell 

"what can't you do serena " grace serena mother suddenly coming from their yard and standing near the resting rhyhorn, serena suddenly grow more nervous and said 

"nothing mom don't worry about it " serena  started shuttering   looking at grace 

grace grew suspicious at her daughter as her eyes were still red and tear strains were there , being her mom she knew what the matter was , all she was trying is to make serena say it finally to grace for some self confidence "if that's the matter why don't we continue our rhyhorn practice " 

ash suddenly stepped in between the daughter and mother and said "Hello Mrs Yvonne actually serena wanted to talk to you about rhyhorn racing only  she doesn't " grave suddenly cut ash off and spoke "well if something is bothering serena let her say it ash " grace said sternly towards ash 

seeing ash in a tense situation with his mother was enough for serena to send her over the edge and say "idon'twannabearhyhornracermom" while looking at grace 

"what did you say dear i didn't hear you" grace spoke looking at serena while narrowing her eyes 

serena felt her hand being squeezed a little as ash was trying to encourage her and finally get it off her heart , feeling the little encoragement from him and seeing he's here with her all the way gave serena all the courage she needed

"mom" serena   "yes dear is there anything " grace says while keeping her posture "mom i don't want to be a rhyhorn racer " serena finally replies while taking a deep breaths 

"ok" grace replies "although i already knew it dear and there's nothing wrong in not following my footsteps you know "

"then why did you make serena try and practice rhyhorn racing all along "ash suddenly spoke in between them "you see Ash serena lacks self confidence was very low i thought this way she will gain some confidence for herself for doing things she like after all she's going on a journey soon and if she doesn't learn how to stop the things she doesn't like it will make her miserable later on in life "

suddenly serena just removes ash hand and hugs grace and says "thank you mom i love you" while some tears were streaming down her face "I'm sorry serena for doing this to you " grace replies while putting her hand behind her daughter back and kneeling down to face her and giving her a kiss on her forehead "but now look at you admitting you don't wanna be a rhyhorn racer you're strong now my dear"

ash seeing the family moment is going on just decides to leave them for right now and come back later "Mrs Yvonne , serena sorry i need to go mom told be to come back for lunch i will see you later" 

Grace and serena waves Ash back, while serena goes to ash and hugs him tightly "thank you ash i couldn't have done this without you thank you " serena speaks while hiding her blushing face behind him 

"it's fine serena anything for you" ash replies while accepting the hug  

after 30 seconds they break the hug and "i will see you later ash bye" "bye serena " ash waves and finally goes to his home 

"aww my little girl is blushing " grace suddenly teases serena in a teasing  voice but says  in a very serious voice" he's a nice kid don't worry i approve of him "seeing as how he really helped her daughter every time , he makes her feel at home and delia is also her best friend now along with rose 

Flashback ends

It was the next following morning in Pallet Town and everyone was up and ready even the residents were ready as today was supposed to be a very special day for the little town in Kanto Today Trainers will come and choose their Pokémon for the Adventure of their lifetime 

everyone except a certain raven hair boy was up in the raven hair boy house 

Drake has already left for professor oak laboratory, as he wanted to be there first as he has already planned his whole  journey ahead with Pokémon's he will catch and the routes he will travel which means he has already decided on his starter Pokémon's and he can't afford to give it to someone else because he was late on the very specific day 

In the morning on top of Ketchum household a dodrio screams with his three heads  "doddriooo"  meanwhile ash slowly mumbles in his sleep "I choose you charmander" and then he hears the doddrioo sound and he wakes up and sits in the sitting position in his bed up and notices the sun is up , then he sees his poor broken alarm clock  and jumps down the bed and runs out of the house while screaming "MOMMM WHY DIDN'T U WAKE ME UP"

"I tried to wake you up but you didn't bulge, so i didn't bother" Delia says in a very stern tone while stopping ash from going out "now go get your Pokémon and then come back home as ash starts bolting off the house faster than a certain pikachu quick attack to professor oak lab in hi pyjamas 

In Yvonne Household

Serena stands in front of a mirror which twirling around and checking how this outfits looks on her and maybe if ash might find the outfit cute too ,the thought of that just made her cheeks red but what she doesn't realize is the sun is already up and she has been doing this for last 1 hour

Her one of the outfit consist of  

"Serena dear wait up, I have something important to tell you" Grace speaks in a soft voice getting behind serena while putting one of her hands in Serena shoulder stopping her 

"Yes mom, what's it " Serena speaks softly while turning around forgetting that she's getting late to choose a Pokémon sensing the seriousness in her mom voices

"Serena dear " Grace spoke softly "come let's sit and talk" 

"ok mom" Serena replies "but mom i need to pick a Pokémon too "

"yes i know dear don't worry " Grace speaks softly while turning around and going inside the living room where there was a red velvet box with a pokeball present in it, seeing the pokeball there in a box Serena asks Grace 

"mom whose pokeball is that" 

"dear you see" Grace speaks softly "before your father passed away , he wanted to make sure you get a starter Pokémon the one which u love , so he asked a friend of his a very popular breeder for a Pokémon  for you and he contacted me yesterday and told the Pokémon was ready and it arrived here yesterday , your father will be very proud for you to have this" Grace finishes as some tears were starting to form in her eyes 

Seeing her mom in a rough situation Serena stands up and wrap her hand around Grace and speaks in a comforting voice "don't worry mom ,i will take the best care of this Pokémon and we will be best of friend , you don't need to worry" 

Grace returns the hug as a the affection between mom and daughter ends , Grace grabs the pokeball and hands it over to Serena "here it's Serena aren't you excited to find out which Pokémon you got"

Serena takes the Pokémon from Grace hands, puts her right hand forward and touches the pokeball white button and releases the Pokémon from inside,The pokemons upon being released  

It was a Pokémon which resembles a small fox, with a bright yellow body, large pointed ears with red-orange fur inside, and a fluffy tail tipped in cream-colored fur, it has sharp, expressive eyes. Its overall design gives it a playful, yet slightly fiery demeanor.

"Serena this is fenniken one of the starters from kalos region " Grace says as the Pokémon is  releasing "your dad always wanted to make sure you had a starter Pokémon"

As soon as Serena sees fenniken, Serena gets down on her knees and Fenniken looks at her cutely while tilting her head "Fenniken I'm Serena " 

"Fen ni ni Fenniken" Fenniken said while jumping into serena arms and licking her cheeks 

"We are gonna be great friends Fenniken i know it " Serena exclaimed while standing up with Fenniken in her arms "but return for now , i need to meet my friends" Serena finished while recalling Fenniken in her pokeball 

"Mom i'm going to Professor lab byee" Serena yells while running out of her house 

"ok dear, take care " Grace yells back at Serena

Outside Professor Oak lab 

There was a group of a people  outside Professor Oak Lab , One was Gary , One was Drake and The last one was Leaf , they were waiting for 2 more people (mostly leaf other 2 were just irritated that they had to wait ), and just then Ash and Serena came together , Ash being in his Green Pyjamas and Serena being in her new outfit  , Ash and Serena did meet each other before but didn't spoke much except for greeting as they were late on the first day , for one ash overslept and serena who got busy as we know 

Suddenly Professor Oak came out of lab with Daisy following him " 

"Since you all are here now we will go and pick your starter Pokémon, and it will be in order you all came in , First is Drake , followed with Leaf and Gary, Then Ash and Serena can decide who wants to go first since they came here together " Professor Oak said " Understood" as all of them nodded their heads to show that they understood 

They all followed Professor Oak and Daisy inside the Lab , While inside Professor Oak mentioned Daisy to get the starters ready , since today 5 trainers were starting there were 5 starters today just for today 

"Before choosing your starter, I will give you all Pokedex, This will help you learn about moves and learn more about the Pokémon's you will meet down your adventure" 

"Since Drake came first he will be the first one to pick a Pokémon " Professor Oak said and mentioned for Drake 

Drake came forward "Professor, I choose charmander " while taking the Pokeball with fire type symbol and releasing it

Charmander materialized and stared at Drake " say charmander wanna join me on my journey to become strong"

for a second charmander thought, He looks calm, composed and knows what he's doing who why not give him a try and said "Char an  charmander" while looking at Drake with a fiery resolute

"following your father's footsteps"Professor oak replied "a very nice choice although"

Drake just grunted and said a quiet "thank you"  as he put his Pokedex in front of his charmander

Charmander,  is a bipedal, reptilian Pokémon. Most of its body is colored orange, while its underbelly is light yellow and it has blue eyes. It has a flame at the end of its tail, which is said to signify its health.

"Now leaf will you please step forward " Professor oak said as leaf stepped forward
"You may choose your Pokemon " Being an excited and bubble girl she quickly grabbed bulbasaur Pokeball and released it

"Hello, bulbasaur I'm leaf , my dream is record all the Pokemon in the Pokedex, will you come with me on my journey we will be great friends" Leaf spoke very rapidly with excitement all over her voice

Bulbasaur like Charmander studied leaf but only for  brief second before jumping into her arms ,and licking her face "bulba bubla saur "  leaf excitement only grew as she hugged the bulbasaur

"Looks like you two will be great" professor Oak commented and said "Now Gary will you please step forward " Professor Oak

"You may choose which Pokemon you want now " Professor Oak said  while doing a hand motion for Gary to take a Pokeball

"First Gym is rock type so I will go with Squirtle" Gary exclaimed and took the Pokeball with water droplet sticker and released the Pokemon inside

"What do you say buddy , let's go and make the world bow down to us" Gary exclaimed Arrogantly while putting his hand forward with fingers pointing towards the sky surrounded in a imaginary golden aurora and laughing arrogantly 

Squirtle thought for a moment before smacking his left hand in his stomach turtle shell, puffing his chest and pointing his fist with finger outstretched in same way as Gary while smirking arrogantly, While everyone else just sweet dropped at the scene but one thing is for sure they will make great partners 

"Now Ash and Serena, since you both arrived at the same time, one of you may go first and choose a Pokémon" Professor Oak told them both while turning his head to Ash and Serena 

"Actually Professor the thing is ----"Serena tried to speak timidly as she was still quite shy around Professor and soo many pepole around her 

"Professor it's fine with me if Serena goes first I don't mind "Ash told professor and Serena while giving Serena a thumbs up and a cheesy grin after all it didn't matter which pokemon they all got, according to Ash all pokemon are the same

"No Ash I already "Serena turned her attention to Ash when suddenly This time instead of Ash Professor Oak interrupted her 

"Serena will you please step forward" Professor Oak suddenly told Serena as he was about to make hand motion to indicate her to choose one of the Pokémon but there was a sudden outburst from a person no one knew was possible "

"I ALREADY HAVE A POKEMON YOU ALL" Serena yelled but suddenly got a huge embarrassment due to the sudden outburst as she tried to cover her face with her hair , she got a little calm down and spoke in a soft voice before anyone could say anything 

"A parcel arrived this morning from my fathers friend , my dad wanted to make sure i got a starter pokemon" Serena finished 

Everyone knew how touching the subject was for Serena , so no one said , Professor Oak decided to break the silence by "well why don't you let it out for everyone of us to see"

"Fenniken come out" Serena spoke softly as a pale yellow fox Pokémon came out of the pokeball and looked around at it's surroundings , then it's eyes landed on Serena, as it jumped into her arms and licked her face before laying down  

"I see Fenniken, A Kalos type fire starter" Professor Oak told the group before ushering them to scan it with their pokedex

Nature: Sassy (Note: The nature can change when the Pokémon evolves)

Move(s): Scratch, Tail Whip, Ember

"Serena itsssssss soooooo cuteeee" Leaf exclaimed with star in her eyes as she took the sleeping fenniken from her hand which in turn caused the Fennekin to wake up and use a Puff of ember on leaf face and jump back into Serena arms who caught it again

"Ehh sorry leaf Fenniken here is very picky" Serena apologized to leaf while heping her stand up and giving her a handkerchief to clean her face 

"It's fine , I'm sorry Fennikin " Leaf apologised to fennikin who forgave her as it's fine , she's just a little too bubble for the Fox pokemon not that it hates her

"Fenni feni ken"Fenniken said to leaf 

"Fenniken says she forgives u Leaf" Ash told leaf giving her his signature thumbs up while turning to Professor , While Fenniken tilted her head in confusion on how this human understood what she said but she just hunched that he just had luck predicting afterall no human can understand Pokémon right?

"Professor can i finally pick a Pokémon " Ash asked Professor as he turned towards him with excitement clearly flashing in his brown eyes 

"Of course Ash , now will you please step forward" Professor Oak told Ash , as Ash stepped forward and Professor Oak handed him a Pokeball with electric symbol , before anyone can say anything Ash threw the pokeball forward "Pokémon I CHOOSE YOU" 

"Pika" The Pokémon muttered as he was summoned, it was a mouse pokemon , yellow fur with pointed ears with black color at the end , standing on hind legs  has red cheek in which sparks can be seen flying , His tail was shaped as a lighting strike starting with a brown tink to yellow at the end , the Pokémon was a Pikachu.

Everyone decided to scan Pikachu as they all pointed their pokedex towards the mouse Pokemon

Pikachu The mouse Pokemon, This intelligent Pokémon roasts hard BERRIES with electricity to make them tender enough to eat.

Ability: Static

Sex: Male

Nature: Careful (Note: The nature can change when the Pokémon evolves)

Move(s): Thunder Shock,Nuzzle, Quick Attack

"AWESOME I GOT A PIKACHU" Ash yelled as he went up to the Pikachu and grabbed him while giving him a tight hug 

"Piiikaaaaaachuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" Pikachu exclaimed as he used thundershock on Ash

"Ash are you alright my child" "Ash are you ok " Professor oak , lead and serena explained all a once seeing how he got shocked 

"Maybe it wasn't in the best idea to give you Pikachu, Since I have one more starter pokemon why don't you take this meanwhile return pikachu and give back his pokeball to me"

Pikachu suddenly started backing away from everyone while croching low and sparking his cheeks threating them to come forward as he spoke 

"Pi Pika Pikachu" (I'm not going back into that ball of darkness again)

"Hold on Professor, I think Pikachu doesn't wanna go inside his Pokeball, "Pikachu said he finds it a ball of darkness" Ash finished telling what Pikachu said to Professor as Professor had a thoughtfull look 

Pikachu was shell shocked as No one has every understood it, even that purple cape weirdo who found it and gave it to Professor didn't understood Pikachu, hell it was like the boy had just understood every word of what what the Pikachu said 

Pikachu had a surprised face as he thought over this and remembered the stories his mother told of people who actually understood them and tried to test his theory

"Did you just understood me" Pikachu said directly turning towards Ash while still sparking his cheeks to emphasis on the point that he just wants an answer nothing more and not to try and use the pokeball

"Yeah Pikachu, I can understand Pokémon." Ash replied. "And before you ask, don't know how, just know can." Ash then sensed that Pikachu must not like the pokeballs seeing his reaction as he added "Don't worry Pikachu, if you don't want to, then I won't make you go in your pokeball" Ash replied with a friendly smile. "You can just stay out here with me.". 

Now Pikachu was surprised, his mother told him stories about humans that can understand Pokémon, but he couldn't be one.. Could he? Deciding he would give this kid a chance, after all, if everything he's done so far especially not returning him inside the death ball"

"Pikachu PIka pika" (Ok I will give you a chance but ask them to not touch me " "Ok Pikachu I got it don't worry"

Professor just smiled at the scene , Serena was a little scared for Ash , While leaf was thankful she wasn't the one who hugged Pikachu but was a little worried about Ash , while Gary and Drake had similar thoughts though their minds ( If he can't make a Pokémon go inside his pokeball what chances does he have ) with that they both gave their goodbyes and went outside the lap to meet their mom in drake case.

Ash, Leaf and Serena decided to meet at the end of Pallet town route 5 where they all will meet once, They all say their respective goodbyes to their family, As they reached outside the lab they were met with a huge crowd chanting "GARY GARY GARY GARY " with signboards of Gary all over the place, as they got closed they could spot a huge red covetable with open top with Gary standing on top smirking while his cheerleaders cheered for him 

"GARY GARY HE'S THE BEST , IF HE CAN'T DO IT NO ONE CAN" "GARY GARY HE'S THE BEST "as the cheerleaders stuck various poses in the car, he stopped them all and turned to Ash 

"Smell ya later Ashy boy if you make it that far, after all you can't match up to the mighty Gary" Gary laughed at Ash while turning to one of his cheerleader and making a motion with his hand , with that one of the cheerleader jumped over the gate and started the car and drove away

All the three kids didn't said anything except they all sweat dropped at that briefly wondering how is it even legal for a 10 year old to have a cheerleading squad and a car but decided not to give it much thought but following their plan of going to their own houses

As he entered the house, he turned to see Delia waiting for him with his new travel clothes folded neatly in her , The same ones which he wore last night.

"Did Drake left already mom "Ash questioned Delia while walking inside the house and closed the door behind him, his mom replied with a nod of her head with a frown plastered on her on that question.

Ash did expect it to be honest, however he never knew what Drake problem was with him from the start but now it's not the time to dwell on that thought instead he needs to starts his own journey to be a Pokémon Master, To be the Greatest of them. 

"Ash." Delia spoke, drawing his attention. "Which starter did you pick?" Delia asked in a comforting tone to change the topic at hand, Ash noticed the tone of her voice and also wanting to leave on a  cheerful note he complied 

"I got the best starter there is mum. I got a Pikachu." Ash happily exclaimed as he presented his mouse Pokémon. Delia smiled and got down on her knees to eye level. She extended her arm and scratched him behind the ear. Ash saw this and flinched, he remembered what happened when he tried this and it didn't end well, all he could do was hope Pikachu would stick to the agreement they made.

 "A Pikachu?" Delia questioned. thought the starters was Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur"

 "Normally they are, but since went last Pikachu was al that's left." Ash explained. "But I wouldn't have it any other way.". From that point on, Delia got away from Pikachu and while she made general chat while collecting Ash's  Ash's backpack which he accidentally left behind when running off the the lab.

Ash explains while going inside his room to change into his travelling clothes, and coming out after a while in his new clothes.

"Ash "Delia said gaining the attention of her son "I got your backpack ready" as she passed the backpack over, it felt like a tone of bricks. "A fresh set clothes,; your sleeping bag,  a packed lunch, a first aid box, for both you and your Pokémon..". Ash and Pikachu both Sweat dropped, they both knew only a mother could pack like that.

"Ok mum, I've got it." Ash told her as he put his backpack on properly. should probably get going. promised Serena and Leaf we'd meet up before we set off.": Delia nodded and Ash made his way towards the door, with Pikachu following behind. 

"Ash.." Delia called, she one last thing to suggest to him.

At the entrance to Route 1, Serena and Leaf were waiting, Serena had since returned Fennekin, although Leaf had her bike with her and Bulbasaur was in the basket. As Ash came running up he spotted the two girls, Pikachu was shortly behind Ash.

"See you're late, again."' Leaf teased. "Yeah, sorry about that." Ash replied, as he scratched the back of his head. The three friends looked at each other, none of them wanting to say goodbye, but they know they have to. After about five minutes, Leaf spoke up.

 "Ok guys, see you around." Leaf told them and with that they each gave her a big goodbye hug. Serena was saddened, there goes my chance to travel with Leaf. Once they had withdrew from the hugs, both Ash and Serena said there goodbye's to the hyper active girl, and she jumped on her bike, riding off into Route 1, leaving just Ash and Serena. 

Again, the two were silent for a little bit, almost three minutes. Serena realised this is her last chance to ask, and she tried to, although the words stuck in her throat and she lost her voice. Ash saw this, and remembered what his mother told him before he left. Thinking about whether he should do it or not, he looked towards his little yellow partner. Noticing Ash's confliction, Pikachu decided to add his opinion.

"Do it." Pikachu told him with a nod. Ash took a deep breath, if his mothers right, then this would be a good thing to do, whereas if she's wrong, then this will be really embarrassing.
"Hey Serena." Ash finally spoke. This shattered Serena's heart, he's about to leave and she can bring herself to ask the question. "Why don't we travel together?"..
