Poem #57 by tayviescreamshark
Hearts bend,
Twist, elasticate, stretch,
Compelling for sweet sweet sunlight
Hoping to photosynthesize their soul,
Adapt to their own survival,
Against the dying of the light.
Blind dates, alone in the dark,
Combusting your standards
Like a rose in nitrogen oxide
Dead-fully shattering.
And you think she's never good enough,
For you, yes she does.
Take your time,
Shaving your legs on a Friday night
People are talking about you
A tissue culture you want to be a part of
Inoculate the cool people
Epidemic of you and what you did last night.
And what do you think of yourself,
Spent too long looking at her
In a telescope, the fusion of you and her,
Does not burn as bright as your spectral lines
She doesn't understand what you see in her,
But for your own sake,
Yes, she does
And now your dying in your own breath
Learning how to breathe again.
The battle of red blood cells vs white
Your pathogen becoming lymphocytes
All of the conceivable ways to think of you
And you think she doesn't know it.
Yes, she does.
