She was listening

Even when he thought that she was lost in her own bubble of ideas

To her, his voice is mellifluous

Much to our surprise

Their friendship is ineffable

It's like a home that never was

Yet they feel homesick

They play around with each other

Their nefarious grins right up on display

He seems to be in limerence

She seems to not care one bit

Emotion is raw, undiscovered

Everybody wants peace

They want chaos

Everybody wants happiness when they've found it

But her eyes haven't lost their fear

Neither have his

His smile hasn't been left untouched

Neither has hers

They only want truth

From the world

From each other

From their own selves

It seems quite obvious

That they won't get it

Now they're one step closer to being further away

One step closer to being nothing

Ineffable

That's what I said

And I stand by it

Neither he knows nor does she

To her, he's a mystery

To him, she's a beautiful mess

To the world, they are nearly nothing

To each other, truly nothing

Or so it seems to us

They know more

They've felt more

They've found truth in their friendship

'Hold it together', they both say to themselves

Their minds are on a rollercoaster ride

Their hearts beating faster than ever

The ground under their feat, shaking

Shaking ever so slightly

But bringing more mayhem than they could have imagined

Bringing the chaos

They so longed for

No more hesitation

No more games

It's time for the truth to finally come out

Ineffable is truly the right word.

Here's to the test in front of them
