Chapter 1| Kyle

"Whoosh. You see it?" Kenny McCormick, the guy who was there for me when the person who should have been, wasn't. Kenny McCormick, the whore with a gap in his teeth, a heart of gold and a freckled face. Kenny McCormick, my closest friend. With his arm, he makes a gesture of throwing a ball. Except, he doesn't have a ball and instead his hand just lamely flops down, making me grin.

"You didn't throw anything." Bebe Stevens observes. She's the girl who fought back when people called her a disgrace to the female population. The girl who dresses as scandalously as she pleases, biting back at anyone who dares challenge her dress code. The girl who cares for me as if she was my second mother. Bebe scratches her neck, peering out into the town to try and spot what Kenny had thrown.

"I think he's throwing metaphorically." Rebecca Cotswold chimes in, eyes examining Kenny's relaxed posture as she sketches him. She's the one who made my heart race and break all in the same week. But we were kids; dumb, stupid, kids. Now, we're dumb, stupid teenagers, about to become seniors, and as close as possible with no romantic feelings.

The three of us are a tightly knit component of people, all similar in one way yet different in another. They're my closest friends, my emotional support, my rocks, many other things that aren't as poetic.

Sat on the roof of the abandoned SoDoSopa, the three of us enjoy our last night of freedom before it's exam prep after exam prep, sleepless nights of finishing projects due in the next day and arguments with teachers over missed marks.

"Whoosh." Kenny makes the same noise, same action again. His blue eyes shine in the setting sun, glossing over each one of us in desperation. "Whoosh. C'mon, one of you has to get it."

"It's Pythagoras Theorem. Just, gone, right over your head." I tease Kenny, and he shakes his head swiftly.

"Aren't you a funny guy?" He mocks, continually making the 'whoosh' motion and causing Rebecca to become irritated.

"Your future career as a model." She grumbles, scrubbing something out in her book. "Just gone, considering how you can't even sit still for a portrait."

"Flattered that you realise the potential," Kenny flashes her a somewhat charming, gaped tooth grin. "But, no. Bebe, you're a smart girl, you've gotta get it. Whoosh!"

Bebe ponders for a second, tapping her rouged cheek before groaning. "Aren't you clever?" She teases, and Kenny flutters his eyelashes. I chuckle at the exchange between the two, always amused and fine to just watch my friends interact. While I always adore adding a snarky comment to playfully insult or outsmart them, it's something special to watch people you love interact so seamlessly; it's like an old, married couple, except there's four of us.

"It's summer." I butt in before Bebe, adjusting my position as the setting sun catches my eyes. "Summers gone over his head; faster than sound."

"Ey!" Kenny grins triumphantly, offering me a hand to high five. After a playful eye roll and careful consideration of coping out, I slap his palm. "It was like a week, not six."

"I find reminiscing over time that's past boring." Rebecca comments, pencil scrapping against quality cartridge. "Why talk about missed opportunities of the past when you can plan for the future?"

"A future of fucking school work." Kenny grumbles in response.

"A future of stress over final exams; what if I get grey hairs or,god forbid, wrinkles?" Bebe runs her hands through her gigantic hair, the girls twisting around her fingers and looking like expensive, gold rings.

I shake my head. Of course Bebe would stress about stress. It's Bebe. She's smart, she's confident, she's strong, but she's still such a stereotypical girl and often fits the dumb blonde characterisation.

"A future of facing Stan fucking Marsh everyday." I add to the pile. Rebecca hums in bliss.

"Sounds fun."

"Does not." Kenny argues. Rebecca shrugs, obviously not up for her idea of childish banter. "Fine. I won't reminisce on missed opportunities. Instead, I'll brag about how many people I've fucked."

Bebe's grin is gigantic as she sits up for the wall, inching closer to Kenny. My face is neutral, but I can just feel the blush creeping over my freckled nose at the conversation to come. Yes, I'm not a child. I don't think sex is gross or disgusting or nasty. I just find casual discussions about something meant to be private embarrassing; people are allowed to be embarrassed!

"Now that's a conversation!" Bebe cheers, chin in her plan as she stares at the other blond. He grins, trying to keep as still as possible for Rebecca, as he starts.

"The first fuck of the summer was Heidi Turner. She was on a break with Cartman, horny as fuck and begging for it." Kenny grins as I shiver.

Bebe cackles. "She came to you too? She came to me, and for me, three, perhaps four, times."

"Five. Mine was a strong five. You'll never beat me in bed, Bebe. Never." Kenny challenges and Rebecca and I groan in unison.

"Why would you even..." I start to complain, but Bebe interrupts me. I briefly glare at her, but she ignores me.

Great; what a perfect way to starrt out senior year. Bebe and Kenny, having a competition, to find who is truly the best in bed. Who fucking knows what they'll get up to instead of studying.

"I will, trust me." Bebe bites back, pulling her knees up to her chest. "My forth fuck of the summer, Clyde Donavon,"

Kenny starts laughing, shaking his head. "That doesn't count; you're exes!"

"You didn't let me finish. And Kevin Stoley. Both of them, in my bed, pleasing me. What've you got, against that?"

Kenny raises a brow. I flush even darker and Rebecca audibly gags. Whether it's fake or not, I don't even know. However, it doesn't stop the conversation that's turning me into a liquid.

"Kevin and Clyde? That's nothing. I bet they only did it for each other and not you." Bebe huffs, glaring at Kenny. However, she doesn't say anything to defend herself. It's most definitely true. Kevin and Clyde are totally the 'will they or won't they', tethering far more into the 'won't they' category. They're both far too scared to admit anything, so it's unsurprising they'd agree to a threesome. They could pretend it was for the girl there, but deep down they'd both know it's for each other.

"I feel like we should talk about something else." Rebecca speaks and I'm so very thankful. I can feel how hot my cheeks are without touching them, and just imagining the colour of my face is downright humiliating.

"Nah, nah!" Kenny waves her off. But then he offers an apologetic look when she glares harshly. "Okay, sorry, but first let me brag about this. Craig and Tweek."

Bebe is silent for a second. Rebecca stops sketching. Her eyes are wide, mouth slightly agape as she stares at Kenny. I stare too, head cocked to the side as I can't help but wonder how. Craig and Tweek are glued to each other; they haven't looked at anyone else since they started dating. Tweek wouldn't ever let anyone fuck Craig and Craig wouldn't ever let anyone fuck Tweek.

"How on earth..."

"It was a very, very intense night of drinking and drugs. Token's parties can be so wild!" Kenny grins lazily, looking particularly attractive in the setting sun.

I roll my eyes at him, shuffling beside Rebecca to admire her drawing and ignore the sexual conversation. She used to be bashful about her sketchbook. I remember days were she'd scream at me if I tried to peak and then ignore me for hours.

However, she's since given me a full tour of the book and it's amazing. Although her drawings of nude woman made me blush, the rest made me wish I had the ability to draw.

So I watch her sketch Kenny. The setting sun warms us for a while, gives us light which is soon replaced by an artificial one. The slow buzz of wildlife and enthusiastic chatter of Bebe and Kenny is white noise as I watch the pencil on the cartridge, quickly killing me to sleep as my head falls against her shoulder.

--------------------------------------------------

The first chapter of Let Me Love You is such a fucking mess and is so fucked up and stupid.
I feel like this is a more relaxed tone, with the friends just enjoying their time together. It also changes the idea of Rebecca as a character, making her differ from Bebe and Kenny and being similar to her brief depiction in the show (before she turned into a whore, obviously).
