Edgar's Preparations
I decide it best to take Wolf's soul myself, because I seem to have lost that odd, red power I had. I take their soul and exit the room, proceeding back to meet the others.
(Fando!)
Breaker hugs me tightly, crying. I hug them back.
"It's OK," I reassure them, "I'm here."
"What happened?" Breaker asks.
"The Wolf..." I explain, "or, let's just call them Wolf, is a powerful dark mage and a manifestation of abused children from around the world, but it seems they are mostly from one part of it, not really sure where though."
"That's awful," Armored appears shocked, "please tell me you didn't erase them."
"Well I still sense their aura," Gen smiles, "Wolf's fine. Kinda gotta wonder though, why is this even in the series? Don't we have enough characters?"
"Well how many are actually on your side?" Armored asks, "I think The Author's just trying to develop his own backstory and gain a few more allies to be used in the next arc."
"Yeah," Breaker shrugs, "guess it fits well enough if that's the case. After all, your psycho ex and I are going after the Author."
Armored turns away, hurt by the mentioning of Reaper. She sighs, turning away as she demands, "let's just go. OK?"
"OK touchy subject," Gen tries to diffuse the tension, "I'm sure Reaper's gonna be OK though. Hey, that's another reason this book is here, to show the Author's side of the story."
We keep moving, Wolf remaining silent as we proceed closer to the truth...
*I enter the dim dungeon of the castle, sitting at a desk as I clutch my wound, ink dripping onto the floor. The Chained Man watches me, from within his cell.
*Know your place!
*Abby bangs her fist on the bars of the cell, forcing the prisoner back.
*Howdy Abby.
*Edgar!
*First thing I do is hug him, relived that he's OK, happy to just see him not like... that. The next thing I do is slap him.
*The Hell is wrong with you!?!
*Can you be a little more specific?
*Going after Fando like that? Fando's not gonna hurt Gen and you know it! Hell, even Breaker has agreed to spare Gen! You have to stop being a demon and start being you!
*I don't get that right.
*I rise to my feet, swiping a bottle of angel's blood, a healing liquid, and drinking it. I always keep one at my desk, just in case.
*We both know damn well I don't get that right.
*What are you so afraid of!?!
*Where do I even begin!?!
*I'm agitated now, yelling.
*Maybe I'm afraid of the genocidal maniac with the power to summon the manifestation of the ending! Maybe I'm afraid of the other genocidal maniac with a soul erasing sword who wears a mask that even I can't see past! Maybe I'm afraid of losing Gen! Maybe I'm afraid of losing you! You ever think of that!?!
*Edgar...
*I sit down, sighing.
*Sorry, got heated there.
*No, it's OK. I get it. We are up against a lot, but this book, the Author's backstory, it can tip the scales. It's gonna be OK.
*I kiss his cheek and smile.
*Thanks.
*What's our play?
*First, we tell them the truth.
*Which one?
*Well, the one they don't wanna hear, cause in the end, we can't have them learn the truth.
*Right. In case this goes bad, I'll have the Chained Man ready for combat. OK inmate! They know I'm the warden now anyways! Get up and get your weapon!
*And now the real fun begins. One of your freinds, Fando, is a traitor...
"A traitor?" I ask aloud, intentionally, hoping the traitor will slip up.
(Oh this is bad. Who could it be?)
Everyone offers the same glare of distrust to all the others. I realize that this is the most important choice of my quest so far. Who's the traitor?
Choice: Gen3king
Choice: Watt Breaker
Choice: Wolf
Choice: Armored
Choice: Edgar lied
