Chapter 1
Loki had never liked anyone his mother adored. He found himself repulsed by her most recent treasure - a young child that had to flee her own realm due to war. The odd todler was from Vanaheim, and unfortunately royalty.
The young prince curled his nose in disdain as he walked through the corridors of the golden palace, the sun reflecting on his raven hair, making it appear as if he wore a halo.
Her parents still lived, so Loki saw no reason for her to stay. It would only be another distraction for his mother - and he would be even more ignored than he already was.
Speaking of Thor, the oaf was throdding directly toward him. Loki groaned, attemped to turn on his heel, but his idiotic brother had already swung an arm over his shoulder.
"Brother!" the God of Thunder boomed enthusiastically, patting Loki's shoulder a little too firm. He cringed and squirmed in Thor's grasp, freeing himself eventually. "We've been looking for you. Mother wants you to meet our new guest."
Loki rolled his eyes.
"I was afraid so," he mocked. Thor guided his younger brother into the throne room, leaning in and whispering some kind of warning in his ear.
"Be nice to her, I think you'll like her. She's adorable." Loki spotted his parents at the dais, accompanied by a small silhouette in a pink dress, clutching a stuffed bear.
"I highly doubt that," he said sarcastically as he put on his fakest smile yet. He approached his parents, eyes fixing on the small child, as Thor sticked to his side like a bloody leech.
Odin smiled.
"Thor, my Son," he said gleefully, before his gaze slided to the dark-haired prince. "Loki," he added flatly. Loki ignored his father, eyeing his mother, a glint in her eye as she held the child's hand.
"Mother," Loki said respectfully. "Thor said you were looking for me." She smiled down at the child in the hideous pink dress.
"I did, sweetie, I wanted you to meet Y/N, goddess of Love." She patted the child's head. "Her parents have a little trouble, right. She's going to be part of our family for awhile, right, Y/N?" You nodded.
"Yes," you babbled, "mommy back soon." Frigga nodded, stroking your hair.
"Yes, she will be back soon," she soothed. She then turned to her son. "Loki, perhaps you can take Y/N somewhere, show her around a little?" His mother sounded hopeful, and of course he could not refuse her. She was his everything, he would do everything for his mother.
Loki smiled down at you and extended his hand.
"Hi," he said. You met his green eyes and smiled, your small hand finding his as he shook it lightly. "Nice to meet you, Y/N. Do you want to come with me for a walk?"
He put up a nice facade for his mother to see, but as soon as she was out of sight, he dropped the illusion of being the friendly God he introduced you to. He tried to be tolerant though, you were still an innocent child that couldn't help but be here. He made a mental note to kill your parents for that.
His patience was wearing thin however, when you padded in front of him, greeting every guards, shaking hands and asking his name.
"Could you please keep walking?" Loki asked, leading you away from yet another guard, taking your hand and taking you to his room. You then started talking to him about your stuffed bear - Loki groaned.
He released a sigh and closed his door, his lids falling closed.
You mouth fell agape, the room was bigger than you had ever seen. Yes, you were a princess in Vanaheim, but this was on another level. There was a big bed in the middle of the room, a nightstand with thick book piled on it and a large window that looked over the city of Asgard. But one particular thing drew your attention.
As Loki was already popping himself up on the couch, not wanting to deal with a todler anymore; you found yourself itching closer to a blue, shiny cuby thingy.
Pretty, you though.
You approached it, reached for it on the small table and held it, the blue glim of it reflecting in your eyes. And yes, you were a todler back then, so you did what every todler your age would do. You threw it in the air like a balloon, not catching it so it fell to the floor.
Loki's attention snapped towards you, and his eyes widened.
You innocently picked up the cube as you watched Loki approached you.
"Give that back, now," he said forcefully. You smiled, looking at the cube - running away. Loki's mouth fell agape, and he spurted behind you.
That was the moment it became a game for you.
"Put it down!" Loki shouted. You reached the bed.
"Down!" you repeated with a high pitched voice as you dived under the bed, giggling as you reached the middle while Loki's arm went to grab you, but it was just not long enough. You giggled girlishly, nibbling on the cube.
"Give my Tesseract you spoiled brat!" he hissed. He sighed. "I should've taken you to the woods to make a walk, and leave you there." Your face lit up, you remembered the word woods. Your mother used to take your there.
"Birds," you said in response.
He spend minutes of trying to get his precious Tesseract back, but you still sat giggling underneath the bed, drooling over the cube like a three-year should - when he gave up. He gave up and sat on his bed, and unwrapping a candy bar.
That got you attention. Crawling from underneath the bed, you popped up beside him, staring at his chocolate bar with big eyes, the Tesseract in your hands. Loki followed your gaze, and smirked.
"Do you want one?" he asked, gesturing towards his candy.
"Want one," you said, pointing at it. He nodded.
"Give that, then you'll get one," he said. You eyed the blue cube and handed it too him, figuring that was what he wanted, even though you didn't fully understand him yet. Loki took his Tesseract with hesitance, his face scruncing up as all he felt was todler drool dripping from his hand. "That's fucking disgusting," he said, giving you a chocolate bar. You stared at him, learning new words.
"Fucking," you repeated, taking a bite of the candy. You absolutely loved it.
"No," Loki said. "No, no, no, don't say that, certainly not in front of Frigga."
