I sat by myself on my bed trying to figure out the puzzle of the golden egg that we got in the first task. I noticed that the top opened like a puzzle but when I opened it all I heard was screaming. I sighed, deciding to go up and take a bath to clear my head, I thought better in water. I grabbed the things I needed for my bath and wrapped a fluffy robe around my body. I walked down into the common room to find Luffy sleeping on the couch. I smiled and walked over, kissing the top of his head as I covered him in a blanket. I began to head to the bathroom again. Once I got in I locked the door behind me and pulled off all my clothes, stepping into the water and sitting down. I grabbed the egg and began to fiddle with it. After a while of this I began to get frustrated, sinking until I was completely underwater. I took a deep breath and began to open the egg again, this time however, I was met with singing.

"Come seek us where our voices sound,

We cannot sing above the ground,

And while you're searching ponder this;

We've taken what you'll sorely miss,

An hour long you'll have to look,

And to recover what we took,

But past an hour, the prospect's black,

Too late, it's gone, it won't come back."

"Merpeople. The second task is in the Black Lake." I said, figuring out the riddle. I jumped up out of the water, closing the egg and began to dry myself off. I pulled on my pajamas and my robe 

and went back up to the common room, feeling a lot more confident than before.

~Time Skip~

It was the night before the second task and I was hanging out with Luffy, talking about the task tomorrow. "Don't worry V. You'll do fine." He said, brushing my hair behind my ear. I smiled and leaned against him. "Thanks Lu." I said quietly. Suddenly I heard someone walking up towards us. "Good evening Ms. Peverell. May I borrow Luffy for a moment?" I looked up at Professor McGonagall. I nodded and let Luffy stand up. He leaned down and kissed my cheek. "See ya soon." He said. I nodded, watching him go.

~Time Skip~

The next morning I was being shaken awake by Claire, she and Alec were decked out in Gryffindor colors in support of me and Harry. "You okay?" Claire asked. I rubbed my eyes and looked around. "Yeah, where's Luffy?" I asked. "He's probably down there already. You should probably get ready." Alec said. I stood up and nodded, heading up to my room to get ready.

When I got to the starting dock mom helped me take my robe off, revealing my Gryffindor swimsuit underneath.

I couldn't help but blush as I noticed a lot of people staring at me, including Harry. Mom kissed the top of my head and wished me luck as I got ready to dive. I was definitely thankful that I didn't need to find a way to breathe underwater and I could focus on the task.

Suddenly the horn sounded and I gracefully dove into the water. I willed the water to push me down towards the center of the lake where the merpeople lived. Unfortunately when I was halfway there I heard screaming. I immediately began to swim over to where it came from. I was shocked to see Fleur being attacked by some type of mercreature. "As a daughter of Poseidon I command you to stop!" I said angrily. They did as they were told, bowing to me respectfully before swimming off. I nodded to Fleur and gestured for her to go up. She nodded. I began to swim again, shocked to see Ginny, Hermione, Gabriela, and a Ravenclaw fifth year Cho Chang, suspended in what looked to be a sort of sleep like state. It looked like there might have been a fifth person but they were no longer there. I stayed there for a few moments, watching as Victor came for Hermione and Cedric came for Cho. I figured we were each supposed to take one and go, but Fleur was forced out of the competition. I swam over to grab Gabriela and I turned and waited for someone to come for Ginny but no one did. Eventually I swam over and grabbed her as well, swimming upwards with both of them. Once we hit the surface they both came out of whatever trance they were in, flailing and sputtering. I helped them over, shocked to see Harry already up on the dock. Mom seemed worried as I swam over. "Where's Luffy?" She asked. I was confused at this. "What do you mean?" I asked. "You were supposed to go get Luffy. I was the one who suggested it." Mom explained. My face paled. Luffy's powers made him extremely weak in water, not to mention he sunk like a rock whenever he was in it. "He wasn't there when I got there, just Hermione, Gabriela, Cho, and Ginny." I said, starting to panic. I immediately stood up and pulled off my blanket, diving back into the water, despite the teachers telling me not too.

I swam around in a panic trying to find Luffy. After almost half an hour I finally found him. In the dim light his normally tan skin looked deathly pale. I grabbed his hand and I could barely feel a pulse. I immediately wrapped my arms around him, willing the water to carry us both upwards. As soon as we got to the surface Luffy's spell broke and he took a large sputtering breath. I let out a sob and helped him over to the docks were Professor McGonagall and mom pulled us up, mom wrapped me in a blanket again, and Luffy was wrapped in one as well. I sobbed and hugged Luffy tightly. "What's going on?" I heard him ask. Mom explained what had happened and I was pulled to the side by Hermione. "They're about to give out the scores." She said. I nodded and wiped my face, walking over to where the other champions were. Fleur hugged me tightly and thanked me for saving her sister as Harry looked at me with a guilty look on his face. "In first place is Cedric Diggory with a total of one hundred and eighteen points. In second place is Victor Krum with one hundred and ten points. In third is Victoria Peverell with one hundred points. Next is Fleur with sixty points. And finally Harry Potter, who unfortunately finished last with no points due to his sabotaging of Ms. Peverell's hostage." Mr. Crouch said. Dumbledore gave him a sideways look and he sighed, "Although certain things must be taken into account. Ms. Peverell not only saved her hostage but Ms. Delecores and Mr. Potter's. Therefore she is awarded an additional eighty points." He said, giving me a small smile. I was shocked. "You know what this means?" Said Hermione. "It means that you're in first." I was hugged tightly by her and Fleur. "Congratulations Victoria." Cedric said with a grin. Victor just gave me a curt nod. I walked back over to Luffy but I was stopped by Harry. "Victoria...." he began. "Save it." I snapped. "Luffy could have died! I could have lost the only guy who ever cared about me besides my brothers." I said, tears starting to blur my vision. I immediately ran over to where mom and Luffy were, thankful that this was finally over.
