Chapter Five: Hogwarts Express and Sorting

It was finally time to go to Hogwarts and I was beyond excited. I was playing with Serafina and Carina while the house elves packed for me. "So what house do you think I'll be in?" I asked Draco. "Hmm, probably Slytherin." He said, I smiled. "I hope so." I replied. Rosie came down with my trunk behind her. "You're all packed my lady." She squeaked, bowing to me. I smiled and thanked her. I picked up Serafina and Carina landed on my shoulder. "Shall we go?" I asked. I used my magic to lift up my trunk and carried it out to the ministry cars that Auntie and Uncle had requested. They were already outside and Draco already had his trunk in the car. I put mine in and got in. Then we were off to Kings Cross.

When we got to Kings Cross I said goodbye to Auntie and Uncle and got onboard the train. Draco lead me to a compartment where all his friends were sitting. "Who's this Draco?" A pretty black haired girl asked. "This is Victoria Peverell, she's a good friend of mine. Toria, this is Pansy." Draco said. I smiled at her. "Hello, it's nice to meet you." I said, sitting down. "And this is Crabe and Goyle." Draco added, gesturing to his two best friends. Crabe and Goyle smiled at me and I smiled back. We spent the train ride playing with Serafina and Carina and eating candy we got off the trolley. I decided that I liked them all a lot. Finally we arrived at Hogwarts. Draco, Pansy, Crabe, and Goyle all hugged me goodbye as they got into the carriages. First years rode in boats apparently. I walked up to a very large man who was calling out for first years. "Hello, I think I go with you?" I said timidly. The bearded man looked down at me and smiled. "I'm Rubius Hagrid, keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts." The man said, holding out his large hand to me. I shook it. "I'm Victoria Cedrella Peverell, although I was a former Weasley. I was emancipated when I was ten because my family hated me, they used me as a slave and beat me every day." I replied. Hagrid frowned. "I'm sorry that happened to you but I'm glad to make your aquatints Miss Victoria, how about we head to the boats." He said kindly. I nodded and followed him as did the other first years. I was in the boat with Hagrid and two other first years. "This is so cool!" A blond boy said to his friend as we started across the lake. The boy was holding a camera and was taking pictures. When we first saw the school there was ohs and ahs, and the boy stood up to get a better picture but he wobbled. "AHH!" He cried, I immediately jumped up and pushed him back in the boat but I fell in myself. The water was so cold it felt like I couldn't move anything, and I soon felt myself sinking. The strangest thing was, I could breathe perfectly fine. I felt something wrap around my waist and I soon found myself looking at a giant squid. "My lady." I heard the squid say in my head. I nodded to it and it put something on my head,

before lifting me out of the water. Soon I was back on the boat, sopping wet and cold. Hagrid gave me his coat to warm me up as we approached the castle. Once we were there we were greeted by a stern looking woman. "Here you are Professor." Hagrid said, waving the kids off, I handed him back his coat. She gave us a speech about the houses and house points before the doors opened up leading to a huge hall. We all walked in single file. I watched as kids were sorted, shocked to not hear my name called with the other people who had the last initial of P. Suddenly I heard "Weasley, Ginerva." My twin walked up and was immediately sorted into Gryffindor. Next came. "Weasley, Victoria." I walked up and tugged on Professor McGonagal's arm. "My last name is Peverell. The Weasley's are no family of mine, the abused me day in and day out and treated me like a slave." I said. Professor McGonagall looked outraged. "I am terribly sorry Miss Peverell." She said. "Peverell, Victoria." She corrected, smiling gently at me. I sat down on the stool and the hat was put on my head. "Interesting, you're nothing like your twin at all." I heard the hat say. "You're kind and intelligent, but also brave and cunning. I think the best place for you is......Gryffindor!" That hat yelled. I was absolutely shocked. Professor McGonagall smiled at me and gestured for me to sit with my house. I sat as far away from my old family as I could. I ended up sitting next to a pretty black haired girl

and a nice looking brown haired boy.

"Hey, the name is Alec Macmillan." The brown haired boy said. "I'm a third year." "And I'm Claire Jacks, I'm a second year. Say, that's a really pretty tiara." She said to me. I smiled. "I'm Victoria Cedrella Peverell, and I'm a first year. And thanks, a squid gave it to me." I said, smiling at the two. Alec and Claire exchanged a look, suddenly a grey haired man with a long beard stood up to speak. He gave a welcome speech and introduced Professor Lockhart to the school. When Professor Dumbledore started speaking I felt my face pale and my blood grow cold as ice. "Victoria are you okay?" Alec asked, sounding concerned. When Dumbledore stopped talking I calmed down. "Yeah, I'm fine." I mumbled. Suddenly the plates in front of us were filled with food. Alec and Claire began to dig in but I only poked at my food. Soon dinner was done and everyone was getting ready to head upstairs. I followed them staying close to Alec and Claire. The three of us walked back up to the common room where my former brother Percy was directing where the first years would stay. He gave me a quick once over before directing me upstairs. Unfortunately I had to share a room with my twin sister. When I walked in she was furiously writing something in a little black book. I ignored this and began to put on my pajamas,

hoping that no one would see my scars.

Thankfully no one did and I crawled into bed, Serafina at my side purring softly. I soon fell asleep.
