for lack of a better expression,
going to hell
(pardon my language).

every day
more news
every day
more death
and despair
and discrimination
and net neutrality has been repealed
and terrorist attacks leave thousands dead
and the leaders are leading us
where?
into the darkness.

But we're searching for a light.

There is a light.
And it's not at the end of the tunnel.
There's no guarantee
That things will get better.
(There's no guarantee
Of much of anything in life.)
The light is in the people traveling the tunnel.
It's inside us,
And when we share it with others
It's a candle against the darkness.
The flame is small
And the metaphor is cliche
But as someone said
A single candle both defies and defines the darkness
A single ray of hope
Maybe

the world is falling apart
So we'll have to fall together.
all our lives are meaningless
The meaning is to live.
