Chapter Nine
Caia
I walk around the Mall as Elianna drags me in and our of different shops looking for a dress to wear for the Frat party tonight on Campus. She must have picked up at least thirty, and yet she hates all of them. Too baggy, too tight, too revealing, not revealing enough. Too girly, not girly enough.
"Can't you just wear something Nova got us? We've been here for hours," I say and her eyes widen. I follow her around and round in circles as she picks up dress after dress, sighing each time she realises it's still not the dress she wants.
"You must be joking. I have to make a good impression," she says and I force a smile.
"You know, we should probably invite Mara tonight."
"Ugh, she's so exhausting though," she says and I laugh.
"Ella-Mara is exhausting?" I ask and she nods, pulling yet another dress down from the rail. "I would trade dress shopping with you for being trapped in a room with nobody but Mara and Four-eyed Freddy."
"Oh come on, I'm not that bad."
"Oh, but you are," I say and she gasps.
"That's it! That's the one!" she yells across the store, earning a few looks from other shoppers.
"Go. Take it. Try it on. Please, please buy it!" I say and she laughs, taking the dress from my hand.
"Caia?" a voice says from behind me. I look over my shoulder to see Sawyer with a milkshake in hand, and a blonde girl I've not seen before stood beside him.
"Hi Sawyer ... and Sawyer's new friend," I say and she glares at me. If looks could kill I'd have died on the spot for sure.
"Cute friend, she seems delightful," I say and Elianna sniggers from behind me.
"What's going on over here?" Kane asks as he approaches with Kaleb and Maxx.
"We're clearly clothes shopping you prat," I say and I can't help but notice the way the blonde girl scowls at me. It's almost comical, I've never met someone that has hated me from the get go. We don't even know each others names, and yet it's pretty clear from her body language and facial expressions that she has it out for me.
"Were you born this rude?" The blonde girl says and I smirk.
"That there is a very good question. Kane, what would you think our parents would answer to that?" I ask, looking at my brother and her jaw drops slightly.
"Definitely not rude," he says, before Kaleb chimes in.
"She was cute though," Kaleb says and Kane laughs.
"Oh adorable."
"As she got a little older the sarcasm started, but she's definitely not rude."
"No, definitely not."
"Unless she has a reason," Kaleb says and Sawyer looks at me as he shakes his head slightly.
"Then I could totally see where you're coming from, she can be a little ... relentless," Kane says and the blonde girl narrows her eyes.
"Sawyer, your friends are weird. I'll see you later," she says, placing a kiss on his cheek before walking away and I purse my lips.
"Your choice in girls is impeccable," I say and Sawyer smirks.
"I'd just like to say Sawyer's 'friends' aren't weird. We're unique," Elianna says and I laugh.
"So, what are you all doing here anyway?" I ask, hoping that their answer has nothing to do with meeting girls, considering they haven't been here long at all.
"We came here with a few guys from that football club," Kane say, and I smile.
"Well as much as we'd love to stay and chat, we're in a hurry," Elianna says and I walk with her toward the changing rooms.

ELIANNA
I stare at myself in the mirror; straightening my black slip dress, with a lace trim at the bottom. I partnered it with a pair of black heeled ankle boots, refusing to wear the black slingbacks, Caia has insisted I wear earlier. As I look up from the mirror, Caia puts the finishing touches to the curls in her hair. She's wearing a burgundy a-line slip dress that she's partnered with a pair of black lace up ballet flats.
"Do you think the coach we saw earlier today will be there?" I ask her as I sit on the bed, waiting for her to finish getting ready.
"Considering he's a coach and this is a Frat party, I'd think more than likely not," she says, turning to give me a questioning look.
"Yeah, that's what I thought too," I say with a small laugh, but she raises her eyebrow at me before returning to her lipstick.
"You know you're not fooling anyone?" she asks, placing the lipstick down on the side.
"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about," I say innocently, and she pouts slightly.
"Mhmm, we'll see," she says as she heads towards the door, opening it up as a fist comes flying at her face, causing me to crease up with laughter.
"Shit! Caia! I am so sorry!" Sawyer says as Caia stumbles back, grabbing hold of her nose.
"I know I should console you but that was actually, really kinda funny," I say and she scowls at me, though that doesn't stop me from laughing.
"You punched my nose!" she winces and I laugh a little harder.
"I'm not even sorry," I say, causing Kane to also laugh. I can't help but wonder why they're all stood at the door to our room anyway. It's not like they have a reason to be here.
"Why the hell did you punch me? Why are you in my room?" she says, examining the damage in the mirror.
"I was about to knock, but then you opened it, and I just, I panicked," he says with an apologetic shrug.
"You panicked?" I say rolling my eyes whilst trying to contain my laughter.
"If you're panicking because Caia opened a door, you're going to be so screwed when the big guns roll in," I say, going over to Caia with my matte powder, helping her cover up the redness on her nose.
"What are you idiots doing here anyway?" she asks, giving herself a once over in the mirror before turning to face the guys huddled in the doorway.
"You didn't think we were gonna let you go to a Frat party alone, did you?" Kane asks, raising an eyebrow at us.
"We don't need protection," I say to them, folding my arms in protest.
"Especially not from that cluts," Caia says referring to Sawyer as she picks up her small purse from her bed.
"How do you even know about the Frat party?" I ask and Kane smirks, a smug look spread across his face.
"I know everything," he says and I scoff.
"Listen, you won't even know we're there," Kaleb says and I take a deep breath.
"Fine. Can we just go already," I say, knowing that I'm going to live to regret it.
