⛵️💜5. Finding you...💜⛵️

Kytyn.

I searched through the scrapbook for only a few seconds before finding the picture I remembered. That man... that officer... he was my birth father. I covered my mouth with my hand as I began to sob, taking the picture from the book, looking at him.

I smile, loving the fact it was the only photo of him by himself. All the others were pictures of him and my mother. You could see the forced happiness in my mother's eyes, but his were filled with genuine joy and happiness. I slide a finger over his face, recognizing him as the officer from earlier. What I don't understand, is how come he didn't recognize me? I may have been two when he left, and don't remember him in person, but he should remember having a daughter, right? Maybe I can talk to him and ask tomorrow at the station. I hear soft footsteps and a knock on my door. They open it slightly and I see Ms. Munion holding Alex, William slightly behind her.

"Kytyn, I didn't know if you wanted to sleep alone tonight, or not, but Alex just won't calm down and sleep. I thought maybe seeing you would help." Ms. Munion explains as she comes in, seeing I'm still awake.

"That's alright. I don't mind having my baby sleep with me tonight." I get up and hold her in my arms, rocking her to sleep. "You can go to bed now, Ms. Munion, we'll be alright on our own." She nods and leaves. "Will?"

"I'm sorry about earlier." He sighs, sitting on the edge of my bed as I continue to bounce Alex, even as shes asleep. "I just... I couldn't let you go back to that... I wouldn't know what to do if I lost you... I love you, Kytyn."

"I love you too, Will." I pull his chin up and kiss him, still holding Alex in one arm. He smiles in the kiss and puts a hand on my cheek.

"We, uh, should get some sleep before tomorrow." He starts climbing into my bed as I chuckle. He picks something up. "Whats this?"

"Oh, uh, that's a picture from my mom's scrap book, from when I was a baby. That's my dad." I tell him, leaning into him with Alex sleeping on my chest and my legs covered by the blanket. He hands it to me.

"It looks like the officer who took Andrew away." Will notes.

"Yeah. I think he's my dad." I tell him my thoughts, he nods slowly.

"But didn't you say he left when you were two? Wouldn't he have remembered you?" Will asks, turning off the lights quickly.

"I don't know. Its been 15 years since then, and who knows? Maybe my mom lied about when he left, or he doesn't remember or care about me."

"Who wouldn't care about you, Kytyn? Maybe you're right about your mom. She honestly could've lied to you about when he left, or maybe she lied to him to get him to leave. Tomorrow, after the paperwork is taken care of, lets get a sit down with him. Bring the scrap book to prove you're his kid, or at least you're possibly his kid. But right now, lets get some sleep." He kissed my head gently, guiding me to lay down on my bed with him. I hold Alex in my arms, as I fall asleep in Will's.

The next morning, we woke up slightly late, since we were tired from last night. I called into work for a day off, and they told me I could have three days off to get everything sorted at home. Will went with me to the police station, Mrs. Munion watching Alex at home with all the other kids, who are actually planning to get their parents back together after a successful plan to break them up worked yesterday. I held the scrapbook in my arms as Will held the car door for me at the station.

"C'mon, I'm right beside you every step of the way." Will said softly as he felt my trembling hand as he helped me up. "Nothing bad will happen."

We head inside and the man from yesterday, possibly my father, led us into his office to finish up the paperwork and everything. Once that was done, he finally took notice of the scrapbook held tightly in my arms.

"Is that more evidence for this case, ma'am?" He asked politely.

"Huh?" I looked down at it. "Oh! No, actually... this was a scrapbook my... my mother made when I was younger... she tried destroying it a long time ago, but I managed to save it, and a jacket she also tried destroying." I explain slightly, laying the binder on my lap.

"Why did she want to destroy a scrapbook and jacket?"

"Ummm..." I look at Will beside me, shyly. He squeezed my hand to give me comfort and courage. "She wanted to destroy anything that had to do with my biological dad. Y'see... my dad is in these pictures in this scrapbook, and the jacket was his, I left it at home today... I'm not in any of the pictures with him, though, which makes me think my mom had lied about when he left. She told me he left for the army when I was two years old. She blamed me for it... but... I can tell by his eyes and body language in the photos, he was truly happy with my mother, and he is a great person... my mother... she..." tears ran down my face as my throat closed up.

"Her mother has lied to her throughout her life, abused her physically, mentally, and verbally. It wouldn't be a surprise if she had lied about when Kytyn's father really left, or even lied to her father to get him to leave." Will explains to the officer, Charlie Swan(sorry), his name-tag had read, as I was hidden in his arms as I cried. He gently took the scrapbook from me and handed it to him. "Kytyn would like you to possibly take a look and help us find her biological father, if he even is her dad."

"Well... lets take a look..." Charlie opened the scrapbook, and as I burrowed my head deeper into Will's chest, I heard him gasp and drop the binder. "Your... your mother is Katherine Davis?"

I didn't say a word, just nodded my head, still hiding in Will's chest. I heard the chair scrape the floor and I heard him step closer. I guess he kneeled beside us, because he placed a hand on my back, and his head was laying against my arm. I could feel his tears hit my skin and I pulled away from Will to look at the crying brunette. I took my hand and wiped a few tears, and he leaned into it.

"D-Dad?" I choked out and he nodded. "Are you really my dad?"

"I... when I left, Kat said you died... she claimed to have a miscarriage and had kicked me out... she refused to talk to me... I was so sad... thinking I'd not only lost my baby girl, but also the woman I had loved with all my life... now... to learn that she had a daughter... and abused her so much... how could I not notice the signs... they told me that you were still alive and that she was crazy... I should've fought to stay... she claimed that she gave birth to a stillborn baby, but I wasn't there to witness it... no wonder she didn't let me in the house, just threw my things out of there." The man cried softly. "I... I'm so sorry, Kytyn... if I had known, I would have came back for you. I wouldn't have left you in that kind of household..." he closed his eyes and clenched his fist. "That bastard and bitch deserve way worse than a life sentence to jail."

"Sir, you should calm down." Will offered as he felt me slightly tense at the sight of my father angry. "She still thinks that when someones angry, its because of her and that she'll be punished severely."

"I'm sorry, Princess..." he took a deep breath and smiled, standing up. "I'm glad she has someone like you, son. How about I take you both out to eat for lunch? My break is in a few minutes?" We both nod. "Great."

"We can go wait outside in the car." Will offers as he helps me stand up. "Maybe we can go home and pick up Alex, so you can meet her, officially."

"Yeah, I'd like that." Charlie smiled widely, and we left his office.
