Looking Forward

A/n
Oh god I just realized in the above picture that I spelled 'existence' wrong. Gosh, I can be so dumb sometimes... :3
_____________
Your POV:
"You two should see your father. He would love to see you," Toriel says once she's accepted the fact that both her children are alive. She looks towards the six humans and says,"And you... make sure you stay out of the kings' way. He feels horrible for what he has done, and I do not think seeing you will make it any better."

"Sure! But, maybe later," Chara replies.

You head upstairs. Frisk walks into a room towards the left, and you follow her lead. Opening the door, you walk into a dim lit room. There's a picture on the wall that has a picture of some people you recognize: Toriel, Sans, Papyrus, Alphys, and Frisk in the middle. But there's some others that you don't recognize: a blue fish monster, and another goat monster, which you assume to be Asgore.

"Oh, I guess you guys are following me...?" Frisk says. It comes out like a question.

You look behind yourself, and you realize that Asriel and Sans are walking into the doorway.

Once everyone plops down on the floor, Asriel starts the conversation.

"So... what are going to do about Stacey?"

Oh. That's what they wanted to talk about.

"I... I don't know."

"Well... if she dies," everyone turns to you, "she's going to come back, possibly killing all of us. Is there any way to get rid of her without having that risk on the line?"

"Well... there is another way, but I don't recommend it," says Sans.

"What is it?" Chara asks.

"It's called non-existence. A fate worse than death... when someone just pops out of the universe, and everyone forgets about them," Sans explains. You can see why he doesn't want to try it.

"Yeah... it's like what happened to Ga-"

"How do we get ahold of this power?" Chara asks. They seem determined to use it.

"Woah woah woah, Chara. I don't want to kill, or whatever this nonexistent power is," Frisk starts.

"Frisk, you've got to understand this. You can't spare everyone," Chara says.

"I don't care what you say, I won't kill anyone, and I won't raise my EXP."

"That's fine with me, because I'll just have to get rid of her for you," Chara says. "Anyway, Sans, where can you find this power?"

"I... actually, uh, don't know, but I'm sure Alphys or someone else has some books about it," Sans says.

"Well, then, what are you waiting for?" Chara says. "Let's-"

"No! Chara, think about what your doing! If you go with this plan, you won't even remember this!" Asriel says.

"So?"

"I am not letting you leave. At least not until you think about what you're doing," Asriel answers.

Chara starts towards the door nevertheless, but Asriel turns it to stone. You didn't know he could do that.

"Guys!" you finally yell. "This is exactly what Stacey was talking about. Tearing yourselves apart... You guys are siblings! You should be on the same side! And Sans... why didn't you say anything? Do you think we should do this? Or what?"

Everyone looks at each other, realising what they've done. "I... I get it now. Sorry, (Y/N)," says Asriel.

Everyone else mutters a sorry of some sort, then Chara says, "So what should we do?"

_____________
Asriel's POV:
*Flashback*
I'm Flowey now. I'm also in the CORE. Alphys and Dr. W.D Gaster are chatting about some chart results. Neither of them see me.

"Dr. Gaster, d-do you know what kind of material is at the bottom of the C-core?" I hear Alphys ask. My creator.

She's the one who made me have no love, no feeling, for anyone. With a heart filled with vengeance, I wanted revenge. I probably seemed like nothing to her. Just an experiment. Nothing more.

I feel the desperate desire to push her down into the depths of the CORE. But... I'll do something even worse.

Dr. Gaster opens his mouth to say something, but before he can, I push him off the edge of the CORE. I didn't think a puny flower could be so strong...

Alphys just watches in horror as Gaster falls down, his eyes wide at me. He lands in the lava-like substance at the bottom of the CORE. And he sinks down, gone.

"Do you know what you've DONE?! He's not just dead... he's-"

Before she can finish her sentence, everything fades to black.

I wake up, still in my flashback. It takes a second to remember, but everything comes back to me. Pushing Gaster into the CORE. Alphys' horror. Everything going black.

I use my flower burrowing trick that I've learned a long time ago, and dig out into Alphys' lab. She's not in there right now. I go over to the cameras to see where she is.

Right where I left her. In the CORE.

She has a dazed expression on her face. "Huh, why am in the CORE? I don't... remember..."

How does not remember the death of her colleague?!

Maybe it's just her. Someone else should know something. I use my burrowing trick to get to the palace. I see Asgore tending to the flowers. His eyes widen when he sees me. "A talking... flower?"

"Yes, I am a flower. However, I have a question to ask of you, sir." I've never been this polite to anyone before, at least when I was Flowey.

"Oh, anything for a kind citizen such as yourself! What is it?" Asgore says.

"Who's the Royal Scientist?" I ask.

"Why, what kind of question is that? It's the brilliant Dr. Alphys, of course!"

"And... before her?"

"Oh, that was... I... don't... remember...golly, it seems like Alphys was always the Royal Scientist..."

He doesn't remember either.

I don't think anyone remembers.
_______
"Asriel? Are you okay with this?" Frisk asks.

I shake my head, trying to get the memory out of my head.

"No...? You don't want to do this?"

"O-oh! No, I'm fine with your idea..." I say. I don't even know what their plan or idea is.

"So it's clear," says Frisk. "Me, Chara, and (Y/N) are going to look up to see if we can find anything further on non-existence, while Asriel and Sans stay here and try to figure out a plan when we come back. Everyone got that?"

Everybody nods, including me.

"Okay then. See you guys~" says Frisk
as she leaves, along with everyone else.

I wave bye and turn to Sans. Once we are out of earshot, Sans says, "I know you're hiding something, Asriel. Do you know something about the non-existence thing?"

I know there's no point in lying to him, so I have to tell the truth. "I'll tell you, but you need to promise to answer my questions as well," I say.

"Oh, great. I hate making promises. I... I'll answer your questions, but if there's a question that I don't want to answer, I won't answer that either."

"O...kay... so. First of all, do you know any of your family members? Like your parents, or-"

His smile shifts as he says, "Nah, only my brother, Papyrus. My parents... I'm not really sure what happened to them."

"Okay then. Now I'll tell you what I know.

"I... I had pushed somebody into the depths of the CORE. This was when I was Flowey, so you can't really blame me. Whenever he died, or as you would say, nonexistent... nobody remembered him. Except me."

"And who was this person...?" asks Sans.

"His name... you're not going to remember, but it was W.D Gaster. He was the Royal Scientist before Alphys," I say.

"T...that seems... oddly familiar. Like I've heard it before, but I don't know where..." Sans says.

I was expecting to hear that. After all, if Sans can remember RESETs, then he should remember this as well.

Before I can say anything else, Sans' phone beeps. I read the notification.

Frisk: We found a book on non-existence. It's by someone named W.D Gaster. Maybe u know him? None of us do, but I thought since u know a lot of ppl, u might know this guy too.

"We should get going," Sans says.

Before I can respond, Sans has already grabbed my hand and snapped his fingers.

Yes, there are two A/ns in this chapter. Credit goes to Zarla and her comic of Handplates, where nonexistence is first mentioned (I never would've thought of that on my own.)

I know this is a bit weird because I usually only publish 1 or 2 chapters a week, but I'm on my Fall Break, so I'm trying to get a lot more in.

Spoilers for da next chapter:
Sans: What's this machine?
Frisk: idk
Sans: Wait... I think I might know what it is...
