Your're So Cold

I am currently in New York. I had a few album meeting to tend to, plus Eddie has a show here so I decided to come along and support him. We've surprisingly got extremely close lately. It's not serious but he's a cool person to kick it with. Plus, he's a comedian so he's constantly making me laugh. He's a breath of fresh air.

To be honest, I really didn't wanna come here because Prince is playing Madison Square Garden, and if I really went anywhere there was a possibility of him showing up.

I know for a fact that would happen because that's who the fuck Prince is. I swear Prince is magic sometimes.

Anyway I cut a song this evening and it felt good to get it out. I locked myself in the studio for about 16 hours to produce it. It felt good to jam out for a change. I played the piano, I got to sing. I just did what I know I can do right and that's make music, watching it unfold was almost orgasmic. I had a ball in the studio by myself, probably the most fun I've had since producing 'Someday'. Which was my favorite single from the last album.

You're So Cold is intended to be the lead single from this body of work that I have yet to name. Mostly because it's not finish. The song is my favorite so far. It's the first upbeat song I've created for this album, since June 7th.

I decided to celebrate the creation of art by bringing my girls out to the club. It's some underground club, in Soho. If you wanna hear good music, you come to these types of clubs.

They were all still on the dance floor, I decided to come to the bar and chill for a second.

"Hi" I furrowed my brows at the familiar tone. I turned around and to my misfortune I saw Prince standing there. I groaned at the sky and turned back to face the bartender.

"Are you following me or something?Tequila lime, no salt."

"This seat taken." He gestured to the seat. I cut my eyes at him.

"Go away Prince." I threw my shot back and signaled to the bartender to keep them coming. He sighed and took the seat anyway. He ran his fingers threw his newly grown out hair, not a major change but you could tell it was getting a little longer. He's always experimenting with his look. I had to admit it did look good on him. He always looked good though.

"Why don't you smile beautiful?"

"'Cause I don't want to."

"Cute." he chuckled. He started to tap his fingers on the counter, to my annoyance. The bartender couldn't be taking any longer and I could see him staring at me out the corner of my eyes.

"I see you changed your number."

"I did."

"Well can I have your new number."

"No." I missed him when he wasn't around but when he's around the anger seeps back out. I honestly missed his presence. His sweet musky scent, his sensual hazel eyes. His humor. I loved everything about him. I just hated him.

"Would you like another drink. I can buy-"

"I can buy drinks for myself, I don't need you to do anything for me believe me you've done enough Prince." He threw his hands up in surrender at my tone. The bartender came back with my drinks and I thanked him before tossing back another set of shots. I'm actually not old enough to drink. My birthday hasn't came around yet. But it's in a few weeks plus my benefit of the doubt comes with the status. Being a major pop star has its great moments.

"Tequila? That's different you didn't drink that before."

"What do you want?" I asked, cutting to the chase.

"I was just in the club and I saw you and I thought-"

"What you thought you could strut over here and smooth talk me like you always do. I'm not 17 anymore. I'm a grown ass woman and I deserve better."

"I thought your birthday was on the 16th."

I grabbed my purse and hopped down from the stool. "I know my worth and your not worthy. I'm over it Prince."

"Wait." He grabbed my wrist.

"Don't you have to fuck over Sheila or something?"

He blinked at my bluntness. He tilted his head a little at me and I sighed irritatingly.

"I don't have time for this." I groaned.

"I've got something for you."

"What another lie?" I tried to snatch my arm away from him but he had a tight grip on it. I met his eyes and he looked hurt by that statement.

"Why do you have to say stuff like that?"

"You deserve it!" I snapped. "I lost myself with you Prince. I lost my morals. I lost my values. I became the very thing that I hate. I did things that I know aren't right all for you it be with you. You threw it all back in my face and now that I want nothing to do with you, you wanna change. I'm done Prince. Now let me go or I'll make a scene in here which neither one of us need."

He sighed and let me go. I watched him reach into his pocket and pull out a tape.

"This is for you. I think you should listen to it. It's about you." I looked at his hand and back up to him.

"Fine Prince." I snatched it from him and ready the label.

Nothing Compares 2 U

I rolled my eyes. "I see your still full of shit." I held it up in his face.

"And I see your still beautiful."

"Oh please your such a-"

"Hey you!" I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist. I glanced over my shoulder and saw who it was.

"Hey Eddie." I smiled, when he planted a kiss on my temple. I looked over at Prince and I noticed his jaw clenched.

Perfect.

"What's up man long time no see." he held his hand out and Prince hesitated but gave his some dap anyway. "How ya' been?"

"Good."

"That's good. Hey! I caught your show the other week. You did amazing. I asked Jas did she want to go with me but she said she was busy."

Prince locked eyes with me, his stare made me nervous so I looked to the ground.

"She's always busy." he put emphasis on that because he knew the exact reason I didn't got to the show. I didn't give a damn either, what was he gonna do? Fight me?

"I know so I was like ok, I'll have Prince all to myself. Ain't that right. " He laughed, nuzzling his head into my neck.

I giggled. "That's right!"

Prince sucked his teeth looking us over. "You gotta be kiddin' me." he chuckled.

"I know, She's crazy. I asked her. I said who the hell doesn't wanna see a Prince show?"

"No no." He shook his head, then paused gathering his thoughts. "It's not that. It's um...it's something else. I just thought about this girl.... I used to see and.....This one time, she dated one of my friends....me and this guy weren't close. I never liked him very much." He smiled to himself, I caught the shade he was dishing out. Eddie still had a stupid smile on his face so I'm guessing he didn't.

"But this girl in particular was a very special one and....she thought that it would be okay ....since we weren't together of course, for her to be seeing other guys. But it wasn't. I wish I could tell her that it wasn't ok. That she and I both know who she belongs to.."

I gritted my teeth. "Well why do you care what the girl does if she's not with you anymore? Seems a little possessive to me."

"Well she's been mine ever since she was young, And if anybody that knows the truth ask who she belongs to. They'd say... "He chuckled lightly. "They'd say she belongs to Prince."

Those words moved me in a way that I never thought they would. I tried to hold a poker face but by the smirk on Prince's face he knew those words got to me.

"OOO!!" Eddie kissed me on the cheek. "I love this song..I'll be right back! Great story Prince! You got to have a J-O-B, if you wanna be with me!" He danced off, leaving us there with each other. Prince beckoned me to come to him, and my body moved before I thought about what I was doing. Which freaked me out.

He pulled me close by my wrist so that his lips were right by my ear. "I need you a little bit closer to me." His other arms slinked around my waist, pulling my into him. It felt right and as mad as I was at him. I missed being in his arms. My emotions about this man are so conflicting.

He planted a kiss on my ear, my cheek, and then my temple. Right over Eddie's, Prince was very territorial. "Ya'know Prince maybe that girl wants more than effort. Maybe she loves him. And she really does love him. She love them with everything she's got." I turned my head, brushing noses with him and I just the reaction I expected. Shock. "But if they don't love you back it's not worth it. So she'll go and find someone else....and she'll search for someone who will love her right. Maybe she knows who she really belongs to, she's just waiting for him to say it."

"Maybe he's a little too scared to get close because everybody who said they'd be there, left ." he said, lowly.

"Well maybe he should stop being a such a punk bitch and realize that she would never leave him. Maybe she never had anybody and she trusted him of all people. Maybe he doesn't realize that he broke her completely. Maybe if he wasn't so worried about his own feelings he would realize that he really hurt somebody. Somebody who cares about him."

"Maybe the girl should save his blood pressure and realize that, nothing compares to her. That he needs her to function properly. That he has no one else but her." I smiled at that, I felt tears well up in my eyes, I leaned in and our lips almost touched. Luckily, I snapped back into it.  I unlatched his arms from around me and stepped away from the situation.

"Bye Prince." I walked off, before I could get my emotions involved with this man again. I'm not letting him pull me in again. God! He's so good at what he does. He almost got me.

"It was nice seeing you again....Princess." He stressed, knowing that would get to me. He doesn't call me Princess often, only when he's trying to get to me. I cut my eyes and turned around to see him casting a knowing smile at me. The thing about Prince is he knew his women, he knew us so well. He knew exactly how to get to us. And it's for that reason, I couldn't smile back, that would emotionally invest me again. I just turned away and kept moving through the club.

I pushed through the people on the dance floor to find any of my friends.

My eye caught Gigi, so I grabbed her by her arm and pulled her out the pit. "Hey! I'm going home."

"What? Why!!!"

"I'm just not feeling it anymore. I'm really tired."

"Well okay..want me to walk you back to the hotel?" she smiled. I knew she was just being a good friend. You could tell she didn't really wanna leave.

"No I'll take the driver and go...I'll send him back for you guys."

"Alright." He frowned. "Are you sure you don't wanna tell he what's up, I know something is."

"I'm fine girl! Now go party some fine guy has been staring at you since I pulled you out."

She turned and locked eye with the guy. Dark hair, dark eyes, Italian guy. She waved.

"Spread your legs and fly girl, I'm out." I kissed her on the cheek, as per usual and moved off to find Victor.

I went back to the V.I.P booth and grabbed my purse before sprinting off outside, sheilding my face from the cameras with my bag. I ducked my head down and nearly hopped into the van, slamming the door shut behind me.

"Hey buddy!" I knocked on the partition.

He rolled it down and titled his head back little, still keeping his eyes on the road. "Yes ma'am?"

I cringed, I hated when people called me that. I eyed the tape for a minute and held it out to him. "Will you put this in?"

"Yes ma'am, you got it!" He took it from me and popped it in.

"Thank you baby.." I leaned back and closed my eyes as the music started.

It's been seven hours and thirteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out all night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see who ever I chose
I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing nothing can take away these blues

Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me where did I go wrong
I could put my arms around any girl I see
But they only reminds me of you
I went to the doctor and guess what it told me, guess what it told me
Said, "Boy, you better try to have fun no matter what you do."
But he's a fool

Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

All the flowers that you planted, baby
In your back yard
All died when you went awayI know living with me baby is sometimes hard
But I'm willing, see I'm willing to give it another try

Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
