Chapter 2

Piper woke up cold.

Her fuzzy blanket was on the floor where she had kicked in the night, and her dad always liked to keep the house as cold as he could get away with. Thankfully, her cat Katoptris (Tris for short) had decided to curl up to Piper's chest, providing a small amount of warmth.

The cold was the only thing the motivated Piper to roll out of her bed. She was exhausted and had no desire to go shopping for school supplies which was what she had planned. The new school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry started next week and the only part Piper was ready for was the train ride.

She stumbled into clothes, the warmest she could find in her closet, and went downstairs for breakfast.

Her father was sitting at the table drinking a cup of steaming coffee and reading the News Paper. He was a muggle, her dad. Tristan McLean, famous movie actor and divorced husband of the super model Aphrodite.

Piper's mom.

The last time Piper saw her mom was when she was little, but she knew that her mom was a witch.

"Good morning dad." Piper said as she walked past him into the kitchen.

"Morning sweetheart." He replied not looking up from his paper.

Piper poured herself some coffee into a travel mug and said, "I'm going to get school supplies dad."

"Have fun."

Piper's father had no idea that she was a witch, or that her mother had been one. He thought that she was going to a fancy charter school somewhere in London and she wasn't allowed to have any visitors during the school year.

She quietly let herself out of their house and wandered down the street drinking her coffee. She had to take several buses to wind her way into London and to the bar that housed the entrance to Diagon Alley.

The bartender recognized her and gave her a cheerful wave as she slipped into the back, pulling out her wand and opening up the wall to let her into the bright Diagon Alley.

Piper had turned 17 three days ago and had been relishing in her freedom. Now she felt more at home in Diagon Alley knowing that she could do the same things as all of these colorful people.

Her first stop was the ice cream parlor. She had a weak spot for ice cream.

At the counter she ordered her regular flavor and went to go find a table. She took the last open one in the corner just before a large group walked in.

They were loud and rambunctious, and Piper found herself tempted to leave. She watched as the ginger woman at the head of the pack try to silence them, and then Piper realized who they were.

That was Harry Potter and his large family.

She saw the Potter's and the their friends the Weasley's and all their children line up to order.

And then she saw Percy Jackson. He was Hogwart's golden boy, and everyone remebered his father, the famous Poseiden, close friend of Harry Potter.

He was laughing at something Albus was saying and looked over to lock eyes with her.

She looked away and back down to her ice cream which was slowly melting, and decided to leave. She didn't want to stay in the shop with the loud Potter's, not just because she really didn't like Percy Jackson, but also because they were all Gryffindors.

And she was a Slytherin.
