Kill Chapter: Coriolanus Adver
Coriolanus Adver's Kill.
Darkness.
That's all that surrounds them as they sit up high on a tree limb, staring down at Alliance Three.
Jess shifts uncomfortably, her wound is healing slowly but she knows she needs the Capitol's help for it to heal completely before infection sets in. And infection could be coming soon.
With the illusion of performing a sane act in front of the whole of Panem, Coriolanus Adver pulls Jess' sleeping bag up to her chin gently. And then the Capitol, as well as his home district, start to believe that Coriolanus might have a sane heart somewhere deep inside. Oh how wrong they are to assume such a thing. For Coriolanus, insanity is as essential to live as was water. To have any piece of him be sane, was to be slowly dying from the inside out.
As the nighttime settled into the wee hours of the morning light, something changed. A small girl came crawling trough the brush below. Coriolanus kept his eyes fixed on her every move. He could just make out her face through the foliage that camouflaged him and his partner. He readied an ax; holding it up behind his head, calculating the wind, the foliage, distance, and everything else needed to acquire perfect, deadly accuracy.
He watched small Scarlet Aspen wander alone below. Coriolanus' photographic memory had captured all the tributes entered. So he did make careful note that Scarlet was missing her District Partner, whom she'd stuck with thus far. Maybe he'd died, or maybe he was in hiding. Either way, Corio had the advantage.
He held his ax up high, ready and waiting. Scarlet was unknowingly wandering into Alliance Three's camp, and if he wasn't fast, Corio would miss his chance at a kill. And he couldn't have that.
He threw his ax, which spiraled vertically with lightning speed. It lodged itself deep within her shoulder and neck, letting loose those warm, red liquids and also a scream to echo through the night. Jess awoke with a start, and stared at Corio's eerie form crouching on a limb. She didn't have to ask to know what happened.
Scarlet's body lay below, bleeding out, her screams still resounding. A few moments and Coriolanus knew Arrow was not with her anywhere. So he hopped down from the tree, a deadly some 15 feet or so, and studied his recent victim. Jess watched as Alliance Three also awoke at the screams. The youngest boy was shaking like nothing else, leaning against the armless girl in fear. The other boy stood up and held his weapons ready for action. And Jess felt almost sorry fort them. The group that had the most odds against them, August being the youngest and Tay missing half her limbs. Jess knew what Coriolanus had planned for them. And yet, even with her sympathies on their side, she still refused to help them. She had the most chance of surviving it all if she remained on the psychos side.
Down below, Corio took out a knife and began cutting up the carcass. Come dawn, Alliance Three was in for a big surprise. He didn't want to just kill them off like he would everyone else, no, Corio wanted to torture Alliance Three. And to do that, he needed all the dead body's he could obtain.
For now, it is time to bring on a little more hell. . .
