World of Hunters
If you were paying attention, you may or may have not have noticed my first small tease which will eventually lead into the endgame of the entire series. Not gonna say what it was though, so if you missed it, then too bad! First of all, we've got Neela showing just how bad ass she can be even as a captive, showing that she's not gonna take any torture from anyone anymore. And now, we've got Rishia's first time in the spotlight for us, teaming up with Wendy and Ashley. And lastly, the 5 members of the Usurper Roar guild are the other 5 OC's that make up my total 7 in my Fairy Tail series. All of them bring huge things to the table, as you'll see later on. But, for now, like I said before, we're switching over to our world 3 team. We'll start from the beginning with them like the others. Enjoy!
-POV: Ren-
With us all splitting into three teams, we all now had our missions set. Find warriors who are willing to help us and stop the darkness that's terrorizing the land. It's no easy task, but I know we will prevail. We have to.
I was the only hero who wasn't going into their world with another, meaning I had added pressure on myself to succeed on this mission. But, as long as I stay focused and calm, I see no reason for us to fail. Me and my team were currently making our way by carriage to the portal to our world. Everyone looked incredibly nervous, and to be honest, so was I. One mistake could spell doom for us all.
"Look, uh..... i'm not one for speeches, but here me out on this, okay, everyone?" I said as everyone gave their attention towards me.
"Today we have a chance to finally end this. To stop the demon crisis once and for all. We all have our teams, and we know our missions. Find warriors, bring them back. Assemble our army, and emerge victorious. We've got one round trip with a short time limit. No mistakes, no do-overs. We're all going somewhere we don't know. And that obviously means we shouldn't know what to expect. So be careful. And look out after each other. This is the fight of our lives..... And we're gonna win. Whatever it takes." I spoke as everyone gave me their respected nods.
"Now that's the way a leader should speak." Raphtalia said to me.
"Thank you. I hope I can live up to that title." I said to her as we were approaching our portal.
"This is it. No going back now. If you want to leave, then this is your last chance." I said to everyone but no one decided to back out.
"I can't just sit back while these demons threaten my future kingdom. I have to defend it as well." Slut said.
"While Ayuma, or even Naofumi may not be here, you can count on me to be our shield. Ain't nothing gonna get past me." Xev said as we exchanged a fist bump.
"I appreciate that. We don't know who or what we'll meet on the other side of this portal. For all we know, it could be incredibly hostile from the get go. Having someone who can defend us will help out quite a lot." I said to him as he gave me a smile.
"We're here." Slut said as our carriage stopped about 20 feet from the edge of the portal. We exited it and stood right in front of the portal.
"Is everyone ready for this?" I asked everyone as they gave me all nods once again.
"Here we go, then. In we go." I said as we all stepped into the portal. Once inside, it felt like there was no more ground and we were falling.
"What's going on!? Where'd the ground go!?" Raphtalia questioned as suddenly, a huge burst of wind rose up and scattered us in the portal.
"Is everyone alright!? Can you hear me!?" I asked everyone as each of them were screaming in fear from falling. But, as loud as each of them were screaming, each of them eventually cut out as we were engulfed by a bright flash of light which made me black out.
When I awoke, I found myself laying face first on solid ground. I opened my eyes and saw grass and trees around me. I pushed myself up to my knees so I could get a better look around. I was in some sort of forest by the looks of things. Blue sky, a few clouds, and a bright sun filled the atmosphere above.
"Let's see..... These trees look like they could be sugar or red maples, so if this is a different Earth, then that means i'm probably somewhere in North America. Anyone else here....." I began to say as I looked behind me to see if anyone else agreed with me. But there wasn't anyone for me to talk to. I was alone.
"That wind in the portal must've separated us. Just what we needed, something to make this mission even harder. I hope everyone at least made it to this world safely." I thought to myself as I stood up and started walking around.
"I need to find some sort of civilization, and quickly. That'll help me find my teammates faster and get us back on track." I said as I began walking through this forest. But, luckily for me, I came to a clearing almost immediately and I got a major sigh of relief. I could see a building in the distance. It looked sort of like a castle, but a little more futuristic-like than most I've seen.
"I haven't seen any castle or fortress with that kind of design before. Perhaps this is some sort of northeastern European country?" I thought to myself as I started to make my way towards the castle.
When I got within about 500 meters from the castle, I started to hear gunshots coming from its direction. I thought someone might be in trouble so I started running for the castle. When I got close though I discovered a massive wall, maybe 50 feet tall surrounded it.
"Great. Now how am I supposed to get inside?" I questioned as I looked around. A few meters away from me was a tree that was just level with the top of the wall.
"Guess that'll have to do." I said as I walked over and started climbing it. Thankfully, the tree had some holes in it which were large enough for me to put my hands in. That made it easier to climb. And, after about a minute, I reached the highest branch on the tree and walked out to the end of it. The top of the wall was about 6 feet above me, and about 5 feet away. I had to nail this jump otherwise, i'd be taking one heck of a fall to the ground.
"Here we go. 1.... 2..... 3!" I said as I leaped forward. My body slammed against the wall but I just barely caught the top ledge of the wall. I pulled myself up and rolled onto my back away from the edge so I could catch my breath.
"Alright...... now that that's...... out of the way...... let's see where those gunshots...... came from." I said as I stood up ad took a look around this castle. On the other side of the wall was a beautiful looking courtyard with dozens, maybe even hundreds of people. The building I thought was a castle was only a small section in fact. It expanded into a fortress the size of Melromarc's. There were also buildings that looked like school dormitories. Actually, the people I was looking at looked around my age, and they all had on uniforms.
"Perhaps this is some sort of school?" I questioned as I started to hear someone shout from inside the courtyard. I looked to my left and, to my relief, I saw Raphtalia. The only problem was that she was being taken away by some people wearing different clothes than all the students.
"Let go of me!" I heard her shout. One of the people had her sword in hand, while another had what looked like a bow ready in case she tried to resist. There were also two more people guiding her to the castle-like building. Raphtalia's hands were cuffed behind her back too, meaning she didn't have many means of escape in this situation. And, seeing as no one else is here with me, I was her best hope at breaking out.
"Hold on, Raphtalia. I'm coming." I said as I unsheathed my sword and hopped off the wall. I jammed my sword into the wall which slowed my descent, allowing me to have a smooth landing on the ground. I ran for Raphtalia as she and the others were currently passing through the center of the courtyard.
"Stop! Let her go!" I shouted as the 4 people escorting her turned to look at me. I now had a better look at them. The one holding Raphtalia's sword was a girl with long red hair, green eyes, tall orange fox ears, a green flight jacket with ripped sleeves, a black undershirt, ripped jeans, and red sneakers. The one with the bow was also a girl with long black hair, yellow eyes, a black and red flannel jacket, dark blue jeans, black shoes, and like Ayuma, this girl also had an eye patch over her left eye.
The two people holding Raphtalia were both men. The shorter of the two had light blue hair, yellow eyes, a brown biker jacket with a yellow undershirt, some black pants and also dark blue shoes. And, the taller of the two had short black hair, red eyes, a white blazer with a black undershirt, black pants and black shoes, and, most interesting, he had several black scars along his right forearm.
"Amber, take this girl to interrogation. Everyone else, on me. Seems like she wasn't alone." The man with the white blazer said as the girl with fox ears took over Raphtalia while the other three pulled out their weapons and aimed them at me.
"Ren, be careful! They're all incredibly strong and deadly!" Raphtalia shouted to me as she was being taken away. By now, a crowd had formed around us, but hopefully our fighting would disperse them, giving me more room to attack.
"I don't know what's going on, but you need to let my friend go." I said to my three enemies as the girl with the bow drew an arrow. Meanwhile, the two men loaded up their weapons. The one with blue hair had what looked like a Thompson style machine gun, while the other had a rather large looking pistol.
"Yeah, don't think so. She attacked us, and that gave us more than a reason to arrest her. And, if you're in league with her, then we'll be taking you in as well." The man with the blue hair said as the girl with the bow fired an arrow at me. I counted by slashing my sword upward and slicing her arrow in two.
"Damn. Even i'll admit that was a nice move." The girl said as I readied myself to fight.
"Crimson Blade!" I shouted as my sword burst into flames. I slashed it at my opponents and I fired a wave of fire at them all.
"Spread out!" The man with the white blazer said as his two teammates separated away from him. I assumed he was their leader at this point since he was giving all the orders. And while his teammates spread out, he stayed in place. I watched him hit a switch on his gun which made it change forms into a sword on the spot. He swung his sword down and sliced right through my flames with ease.
"Damn! That's some sturdy blade he has." I thought as the man with the blue hair was closing in on me. He took a firing position and started unloading rounds onto me.
"Hundred Swords!" I shouted as I implanted my sword into the ground. Hundreds of glowing, floating swords appeared and started to fly towards the other man. His bullets and my sword collided and basically destroyed each other until we both came to a standstill.
"Nice distraction, Temair!" I heard the girl shout as I turned around to see her leap towards me. Her bow collapsed into the form of a blade that rested over the back of her left hand. She thrusted her blade towards me and I blocked it with my own. We tried to shove each other away but it seemed we were even in strength. Neither of us were giving any ground.
"Keep him there, Leena!" The man with the white blazer said as he came running up behind me. I glanced behind me to see him reach for the back of my head. My response was to duck underneath him. Relieving the pressure from my sword made the girl stumble forward and collide with her friend.
"Now you're both wide open! Thunderbolt Slash!" I shouted as my sword began to produce electricity. I swung my weapon at them but the man with the blue hair stopped my attack by blocking me with his weapon. His machine gun had transformed just like the other two's weapons. His turned into a huge battle axe, which had an ammunition slot for some reason.
"Attacking the defenseless, eh? That's a cowards tactic if I've ever seen one." The man said as he tried to kick me. But, I jumped back a bit before he could strike me, but this gave his friends time to recover.
"Thanks for the save, Temair." Leena said to him.
"What's the plan, Drake? Seems like this guy's a bit tougher than the Faunus girl." Temair asked the man in the white blazer.
"He's got skills, that's for sure. But we've got our teamwork. Flying Meteor formation!" Drake said as his two teammates gave him nods. I watched as Temair loaded an ammo clip with an orange symbol on it into the slot in his axe. The blades on it began to glow orange and began to produce smoke for some reason.
"Leena, covering fire!" Drake ordered as Leena morphed her blade back into a bow. She pulled out a flat tipped yellow arrow from her quiver which was actually on her left forearm. She drew it and fired.
"You've already tried this. And you've seen that i'm quick enough to intercept your projectiles. You must know that it's useless." I said as I sliced the arrow in two again. But this time, when I struck it, it sent out a current of electricity that began to shock me. The pain was intense and it made me stumble a bit. But, it was brief and I was able to keep my footing.
"Again!" Drake ordered her as she drew another arrow. This time, it was red in colour, but it had a flat arrowhead like the one before.
"These arrows she's firing..... they're not meant for penetration like a normal arrow. That must be why they're flat. And, if each of them carry an element based on what colour they are, that would make sense why that last one was yellow. And, since this one is red, that must mean fire." I thought to myself as Leena released her arrow, sending it flying at me.
"Riptide Blade!" I yelled as my sword surrounded itself in water. I swung it at the arrow, and, when I made contact, the arrow exploded into flames, but my water blade put them out near instantly.
"Forget skills, this guy's got a crazy semblance. I think it lets him use all four elements or something like that." Leena said in disbelief, but I had no idea what she was talking about.
"Now, Drake!" Temair shouted as I looked back over to him and Drake. I watched as Drake grabbed onto the collar of Temair's jacket and threw him forward with all his might. He sent Temair flying at me and he readied his smoking axe to strike me.
"A full powered head-on assault? Alright then, let's see how you handle this!" I shouted as my sword suddenly began to produce blue and orange sparking flames.
"Meteor Slash!" I shouted as we both swung our weapons at each other. The force of our attacks, combined with the energy we were both producing in our weapons made a massive explosion that left a crater in the courtyard. Me and Temair were sent flying in opposite directions and I was able to land on my feet. He however, landed on his back and slid past his teammates. He did not get up after though, which meant I either killed him or just knocked him out.
"Temair, no!" Drake yelled as Leena started rushing for me. She switched her weapon back into its blade form and she attempted to stab me with it.
"You're gonna pay for hurting my friend!" She shouted as I blocked her weapon with my own.
"Had you have let my friend go before, then I wouldn't have had to do that." I told her as she tried to knee me in the chest. But, I let go of my sword with one of my hands and blocked her nee before she could hit me. And, now that I had a free hand, I could take advantage of her openings, just like Ayuma did to me at the start of our journeys.
"Your precision is honestly impressive for someone with only one eye, especially since that unbalances your depth-perception. But, you've got a glaring weakness." I said to her as she began to give me a curious look.
"Oh? And what's that?" She asked as I reached up with my right hand and thrusted it at the right side of her face.
"If I block your one eye, then you're essentially blind!" I said as I extended my index finger out and poked her hard in the eye. Leena screamed for a moment in pain and backed off to rub her eye. But, this gave me my opening to finish her off.
"Thunderbolt Slash!" I shouted as my sword produced electricity once again. I swung my blade at her and sliced across her lower chest. I shocked her with my weapons electricity but it left no slash wound on her for some reason. Whatever the case, Leena soon fainted from the overwhelming pain my blade was giving her. And now, there was only one person left for me to beat.
"I must say, you might just be the toughest opponent me and my team have ever faced. And we're one of the best teams at this school, and that's in terms of grades, strength, speed, and teamwork. You've definitely made things a whole lot more interesting, that's for sure. But, i'm not going to lose to some scrawny looking teenager. So bring it on, kiddo." Drake said to me as he changed his weapon back to its gun mode.
"You're not half bad, yourself. But I came here with my friends to complete a very important mission, and i'm not letting some bulky school boy stop me." I said to him, even though i'm still a school boy myself. He didn't have to know that though.
"Then I guess it's time to get serious." Drake said as he as he aimed his gun at the ground by his right foot and unloaded his entire clip. The bullets stuck into the ground and he then loaded his gun with another clip.
"Let's see what happens when you get hit by one of these!" Drake shouted as he fired a light blue bullet at me. There wasn't much distance between us so I had no time to intercept the shot. Instead, I had to jump out of the way, diving to my right. But, I landed on my stomach and Drake took advantage of my opening. He fired another bullet near my left hand on the ground. The shot hit the ground a mere-millimeter from my hand but, instead of ricocheting off the floor, the bullet turned into ice and froze my hand in place. I got up to my knees but my hand was still stuck. I couldn't move at all.
"First rule of combat: Analyze your opponent, see if they have weaknesses. Second rule: Immobilize the target. Third Rule: Take them down." Drake said as he changed his weapon back to its sword mode and charged me. The blades on his sword turned the same shade of blue as his bullets, which probably meant it would freeze anything it touched.
"You're done, kid!" He shouted as he went to slash me from behind. But, thankfully, my sword was in my free right hand. I moved my right arm over my shoulder and behind me and I just managed to deflect his attack.
"Meteor Slash!" I shouted as my sword began to produce the same orange and blue flames. But, instead of trying to attack Drake, I striked the ground with my sword, making a shockwave that shattered the ice on my hand, freeing me. And, the shockwave was powerful enough that it made Drake lose his balance for a moment.
"You're not so tough if you don't have that weapon with you! Crimson Blade!" I shouted as I fired another wave of fire at Drake. I hit his sword and it was sent flying out of his hands, landing about 20 feet behind him.
"Damn it!" Drake yelled as he turned to go and get it. But, I had already started running at him. And, with his back to me now, he was wide open for me to finish him off.
"This fight's over!" I roared as I thrusted my sword at him. But then, without even looking, Drake sidestepped to his left and dodged my attack. I tried hitting him again but he kept on dodging me without even having to look. How was he doing this?
"It's impossible to try and sneak attack me or hit me from behind, kid, so just give it up!" Drake said as he picked up his sword and then turned and faced me. We stood facing each other, ready to continue.
"Even, if by some way, you manage to beat me, do you really think you'll be able to find your Faunus friend and rescue her? I mean, you've got the entire rest of the students at this school ready to fight you." Drake said to me as I gripped my sword with both of my hands.
"I don't care what the odds are. I am a hero. The sword hero. I will not be beaten by someone like you. I'll find Raphtalia, free her, and then we'll find the rest of our friends and complete our mission." I said to Drake as he just started chuckling.
"The sword hero, eh? Sounds like something a child made up. And thanks for letting me know there's more of you guys out there besides you and the Faunus girl. Now we'll know in case they try and invade the school or something." Drake said as we both suddenly charged each other. We clashed blades and entered a shoving match which he was slowly winning. The sheer size and strength of this guy was unreal. It was like mouse fighting a rhino.
"Think...... How do you win in this scenario? What would the other heroes do? Motoyasu would try and overpower. Can't do that here. Itsuki would flee and fight from a distance. But, that's not an option for me. Naofumi would use that overpowered curse shield. But, I can't use that. And Ayuma..... what would she do here? She's use her opponents strength against them, just like she did me. And then, she would end the fight with a single blow." I thought to myself as I came up with my plan to win.
"Only got one shot. Have to perform it flawlessly." I thought to myself as I quickly leaned my upper body back as low as I could possibly get it. I pulled my blade back at the same time and that caused Drake to lose balance again and stumble forward. Now was my chance.
"Serpent Blade: Paralyzing Fang!" I shouted as a purple aura surrounded my sword. I quickly slashed Drake's arm, leaving a small wound on him, but enough for the venom to get inside. I then backed off and waited for this to end.
"That was a nice move you pulled, but you really should've gone for a more.... powerful.... attack....." Drake began to say slower as he suddenly fell to his knees.
"You obviously didn't hear what the attack was called. I just hit you with a paralyzing venom. Once struck, your body movements slow to that of a speed even slower than a tortoise. I'll let you know that you won't die from it. After 20 minutes it wears off. Be thankful I spared your life." I said to him as he tried his hardest to stand up. And, he was able to, but it was clear that he was struggling. His legs were shaking, and he was breathing heavily. I can only imagine the strength he's using just to stand up on both feet.
"And you obviously haven't been paying attention. Why would I freeze your hand to the ground instead of just going for your head? And why would I dodge so many of your attacks before instead of just turning to fight you? I was stalling, idiot." Drake said to me with a desperate smile as I realized he was correct. I quickly turned but I was too late.
The fourth member of his team, the one he called Amber with the fox ears was directly behind me. She had reeled back her right fist, ready to strike me. And, for some reason, her body was glowing with a white outline.
"This is for hurting my teammates!" She shouted as she threw a monster punch into my face. The strength she was carrying was so immense that Drake didn't even hold a candle to her. It was like he was a slingshot while she was a cannon. She sent me flying in the blink of an eye into a tree which a blew right through, snapping it in two. But, I kept on flying until I smashed into a wall, cratering it and embedding me into it.
"Nice work, Amber. Take him to interrogation, then help out Leena, me, and Temair. I'm sure Oz will want to speak with them." I heard Drake say as I blacked out. No doubt I had a serious concussion from the attack I just took.
When I finally woke up, my vision was really hazy, and everything around me was dark. But, I could make out I was in some sort of jail cell. I was laying on the ground but I got up using my hands and sat on my knees.
"That fox girl..... has some serious power....." I said in pain as I had a roaring headache. I'm sure I had a black eye too, as that's probably why I had such blurry vision.
"Oh good, you're awake." I heard someone say as I turned my head to see Raphtalia sitting on a table behind me.
"I'm sorry, Raphtalia. I..... I tried to save you, and I grew cocky. I let them get the jump on me." I told her as she sighed.
"It's alright, Ren. I appreciate your efforts regardless." She said to me.
"How long was I out for?" I asked her.
"About an hour." She told me.
"I see. Have you heard anything about if these people have found some of our other teammates?" I asked her as she shook her head.
"No, nothing. You're the first from our team that I've met." She explained to me.
"That's unfortunate. Also, how'd they catch you? Did they just overpower you like they did me?" I asked her as she shook her head.
"Not quite. When I arrived here yesterday, I encountered some monsters. I took care of them but some bushes started to rustle. I attacked whatever was there but it was those same people you fought. I was able to best a few of them, but their leader, the one named Drake has some sort of ability that lets him sense his surroundings. I cloaked my body and tried to attack him from behind. But, he was able to sense me and countered my every move. He disarmed me shortly after and all 4 of them captured me, and then put me in here." Raphtalia explained.
"So, he used the same trick on you too then. I couldn't attack him from behind either. It was like he had eyes on the back of his head. And..... wait...... did you just say you got here yesterday?" I asked her as she nodded her head.
"Yeah, why? Is something wrong?" She asked me.
"I only got here about 2 hours ago. Which means everyone on our team wasn't just scattered into different areas. We were scattered through time. This isn't good. Who knows how far apart we all are. Some of them could've been here for over a month already, or even a year, and some might not even be in this world yet." I said as I slammed my right fist into the ground.
"Damn it! Why!? Why!? WHY!? Why can't something just go our way for just once!?" I shouted as we suddenly heard a door creak open.
"They're both in here, sir." I heard a man say as 5 people walked into the room and stood in front of our cell. 4 of them were the members of Drake's team, and the one named Leena was holding my sword and Raphtlia's. And,the fifth person was an older man. He had snow white hair, glasses, a green suit and pants, brown leather shoes, a black cane in his right hand, and a mug in his left hand.
"So, you two are the ones causing trouble around my school. A pleasure to meet you. My name is Professor Ozpin, headmaster of Beacon Academy. And you two are....?" The older man said to us as I stood up and walked over to the edge of the bars, meeting him face to face.
"Let us go, sir. Please, we just want to find our friends so we can complete our mission." I told him as he took a sip from his mug.
"Is that so? And what exactly is your mission? Who are these friends? I can promise you that everything will go a lot smoother for you both if you just answer my questions." Ozpin said to us as I looked to Raphtalia. She gave me a stern nod and I let out a sigh, knowing what she wanted me to do.
"Fine. My name is Ren Amaki, and this is Raphtalia. We're..... not from this world." I said as Ozpin took another sip and then gave me a curious look.
"I'm still listening. Now, continue." Ozpin said as we both went on to tell him and the students everything about our world and what we were fighting for. Everything we would tell them only made them more curious and more likely to not believe us. And, I wouldn't blame them. After all, hearing that there are other worlds, that demons exist, that there's legendary heroes; I don't know if i'd believe it either. But it was all we could do to persuade these people that we're not the enemies. We just had to hope that it all could work. Because if it doesn't.....
".......Then we've already failed this mission."
