Ready for War

Last chapter felt real good to do. Got to relieve a lot of stress for Ayu and give Moto one hell of a beating. But, like Ayu says, I wish she could beat the hell out of Myne. But we all know how things end up. Only time will determine what happens before we get there. And speaking of time, the next wave is almost here. And, in case for some reason you didn't notice, I introduced a new OC. Alex wasn't my own creation. I owe him all to Kayura-chan on Wattpad. You made a pretty awesome character Kayura! I'll be sure to make the best of him! Now, enjoy!

"Mind telling me what this is all about?" Erhard asked as we all entered his shop to discuss with Melty and Alex.

"That's what we're trying to figure out. If you'd shut up, then we can get things started." Naofumi rudely said to him.

"Look , if you're gonna be here, then you gotta let me in on the whole story." Erhard said.

"Sorry, but this is the only place we knew to go for a private conversation. I promise it won't take too long." I said to him as he sighed and went into the backroom.

"Now then, who exactly are you two anyway?" Naofumi asked them.

"First, please accept our apologies. I am first in line to the Melromarc throne but I should've told you that sooner. I am the second princess and second daughter, princess Melty Melromarc." Melty explained.

"And I am second in line to the throne. I am the first son, second child, and first prince; Prince Alexander Melromarc." Alex explained.

'Wow, you two are really royalty?" Filo questioned as Melty gave her a nod.

"Wait, but if you're second child, and Myne isn't first in line, then wouldn't that make you next to claim the throne?" I asked Alex.

"Unfortunately, no. Ancient scrolls within the Melromarc kingdom depict that the next generation of royalty be ruled by a female. So, as much as I would like to have the throne, it is not my place to object." He explained.

"Okay, but then how can you be ahead of your older sister?" Raphtalia asked Melty.

"Our sister has always been a problem child due to certain.... personality difficulties. So the honor was passed down to me instead." Melty explained.

"Not surprising she got turned down." Naofumi said as I agreed with him.

"Now then, this might be the perfect opportunity we have here. It could be that-" Melty began to say but Naofumi cut in.

"You can forget everything, we're outta here. I just can't trust anything you two say. Now, get lost." Naofumi said to them.

"Please wait, sir. At least hear us out first." Alex pleaded but Naofumi turned his head away.

"I don't have to listen to a damn word that comes out of any of the filthy royal mouths." Naofumi said as someone entered the shop.

"Princess Melty, Prince Alexander, his royal majesty calls. Please come with us." A royal knight said.

"Very well. We have to go now, Filo." Melty said as the two of them left the shop.

"Well, that went well." I said as Naofumi just gave me a glare.

"At least let them say what they want to say, then determine if you can trust them or not. And besides, i'm here with you this time, so things would've gone a lot smoother!" I said to Naofumi as he walked right up to me and stared directly into my eyes.

"And who says I ever needed you!?" He shouted in my face as I just glared back at him. I said no words back to him. I was too shocked at what he just spoke. I simply left the shop and headed back to the carriage. I didn't care what he did now. It wasn't my concern anymore.

"Okay, here we go. Time to heal you up." I said as I prepared the holy light to heal Neela. Me and Seamus removed her from the carriage and were currently staying at a nearby inn.

"You sure ya know how to use that stuff?" Seamus asked me.

"I wouldn't if it wasn't for my status magic. Thankfully it gives me the steps to properly use this item." I explained as I gently put the ball of light down onto Neela's chest. Her body seemed to absorb the light into her skin and it slowly began to neutralize the death magic. Her black veins were turning normal and her skin colour was changing back as well. I was so relieved that it worked. But.... Neela still wasn't waking up.

"Wait... why hasn't she woken up yet? I healed her, so why? Did it actually fail? Or.... or was I too late....?" I questioned as a deep sadness began to rise from my heart.

"Now, hold on, lassy. I've seen this holy light stuff be used before. Trust me, she's been cured. It just now matters on her recovery time. And I've heard it can take from 10 minutes to 10 days." Seamus explained.

"10 days? We don't have that kinda time. The wave is gonna be here in.... less than a day! She needs to wake up, now!" I shouted as Seamus took a step back, almost looking afraid of me.

"Oh, uh... i'm.... i'm sorry. Forgive me for being so rude." I said to him as I put my head down in shame. He walked over to me and put his right hand on my shoulder.

"I can tell that something is on your mind. Please, talk to me. Just let it out. I am here for ya." Seamus said to me as I broke down into tears and hugged him.

"Huh... well I can say I wasn't expecting this." Seamus said to me.

"I just don't know what to do right now. Neela is still out of commission and on top of everything, me and Naofumi are at each others throats. I think.... I think it may be best we part ways with him and his party." I said as Seamus let go of my shoulder and then slapped my face.

"Get a grip of yourself, woman! Can ya hear yourself right now!? You sound like a complete idiot!" Seamus yelled in my face as I just stood there stunned.

"What... did you say?" I asked him out of pure shock.

"You heard me! We've been travelin' with that Naofumi all this time, and this is the only time I've heard of the two of ya fightin'! I've been to loads of places and have met lots of people I've gotten into fights with, and I know that no single fight can break each other up! This is no different! So, suck it up, go back and talk to the man!" Seamus said to me but I still just stood there, not knowing what to do.

"I.... I.... I just...." I tried to say but Seamus interrupted me.

"You just what? Jeez! Ever since ya used that strange black axe, it's like you're a changed woman! Snap out of it, for god's sake and go talk with your friends! I'll stay here with little Neela and take care of her. Now, go!" Seamus said, pointing to the door.

"But, I.... I just.... I just don't know what to say." I said to him as he just sighed.

"My goodness woman, it's like your head's full of lambs and beer! It's just not right! No more excuses! Ya hear me!? Now, get out there already, before I kick you out!" Seamus yelled as he began to shove me over to the door.

"Alright, fine! I'll freakin' go! Stop pushing me!" I yelled as he stopped. I opened up the door to leave, taking in a deep breath before walking through and closing the door behind me. But before I completely shut the door, I poked my head back into the room to say one last thing.

"Thank you, Seamus.... for giving me the push...." I said before leaving.

"And, of course! When I want to find Naofumi, he's nowhere to be found! And we're running out of time, there's less than an hour until the wave hits. Maybe I should regroup with Seamus and see if Neela's awake now." I thought to myself as I was walking through the streets of the kingdom.

"There she is! Please, stop, Axe hero!" I heard someone yell from behind me. I turned and saw a small squad of royal knights running towards me.

"Great.... just what I needed." I said to myself as they stopped just in front of me.

"Axe hero, the king is issuing a summons for you. You're to meet him at once." The captain of the knights said as I checked the countdown timer. It read 50 minutes. And, I was already just outside the castle.

"If it'll take less than 40 minutes, then sure, I guess." I unenthusiastically said as the knights took me into the castle and up to the throne room. There the king waited for me.

"Greetings, axe hero. It's been a long time since we've chatted." The king said to me.

"If you called me here just for some small talk, then i'm just gonna leave. Cut to the chase or i'm outta here." I said to him as he sighed.

"Very well. I wish to know why you are accompanying the filthy shield hero on his journey. And why you very recently injured the spear hero." The king asked as I just started to giggle.

"First, I travel with Naofumi because I choose to do so. I paid a heavy price so that I could and I don't regret it one bit. And, what you did to him was not fair in the slightest. You're the one who should be called "filthy."" I explained to the king as he became outraged.

"What did you say!? Explain yourself!" The king demanded.

"Oh, you heard me, and I think I've figured out what happened that day you accused Naofumi of raping Myne. You have no hope or care for the shield hero, so you decided to reduce him to nothing, to have him be of little service at all and have all the other heroes do your work instead. But, there's one thing led me to catching on to your and Myne's little scheme." I said as the king waved off his guards making us the only ones in the room.

"Oh? Then please, tell me how you figured out this wild and stupid theory of yours." He asked me.

"When Naofumi was brought in, he said that all of his clothes and money were stolen from him. And, the night before, I saw Motoyasu wearing armor he had just gotten maybe 2 hours before he went to sleep at the same inn I stayed at. But, for some odd reason, he wasn't wearing that same armor the next morning when Naofumi was being accused. Nope! He was wearing Naofumi's armor! You had your knights steal everything from him and you had Myne stage the whole thing, making it seem like she was raped by the shield hero!" I roared to the king as he was clenching the ends of his throne.

"You.... little..... bitch!" The king yelled to me as I just cracked a smile and giggled again.

"And you thought no one would notice, didn't you? Luckily for me, I used to play a lot of detective games. I know how these situations go down. Your next line is "I'm gonna throw you into prison for the rest of your miserable life," right?" I said to the king as he opened his mouth in shock. He actually was about to say that.

"Let's see, if you were to do that, then you wouldn't have the full force of all five heroes now, would you? There'd be no way them to survive the wave and they'd all be defeated. So please, throw me into the dungeon. Just see what happens in.... 25 minutes." I said, checking the countdown clock. The king still remained silent and stunned though.

"Looks like you're out of words, your highness. Which means, I don't have any reason to remain here. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a war to prepare for." I said as I went to leave the throne room. But before I could leave, the king spouted out one final remark to me.

"If you think you'll get away with this, then you are mistaken. After this wave is completed, I will relentlessly hunt you and your party down. You will pay for challenging me and for nearly foiling my scheme. No one will believe you. And you are indeed correct. I will throw you into prison. And then i'll have your party members killed for treason!" The king roared as I pulled out my axe and threw it at him. It struck the back wall to the left of his head and it stuck there.

"If you even so much as touch them, then I will end your life. And I met your youngest daughter. I would gladly take a death penalty if she were to take over as queen. At least she has respect for all of the heroes equally. Unlike you, who shows no care for the shield hero, and now, me, the axe hero. So, if you do indeed come to hunt me down after the wave..... then i'll be waiting for you." I said as I walked back over to the king and removed my axe from the wall. I placed it back in its strap and then left the throne room. The king remained silent the entire time.

"You what!? You went and spoke to the king!? Why!?" Seamus questioned as I returned to the inn. I told him I couldn't find Naofumi or his party and that I was taken into the castle instead.

"He wanted to have a.... "Chat," with me. We talked and came to a disagreement. End of discussion." I said to him but he wasn't buying it.

"Nah, you seem different again. What did you talk about?" Seamus asked me but I didn't want to say, especially right before the wave. It might distract him.

"Look, it's nothing important now. Just get your stuff ready for the wave." I ordered him as I looked to Neela. She was still asleep. And with the wave starting in just three minutes, it looked like I was going into this without her.

"I wish you could be here, Neela. You give me so much strength and courage. I'll try to resist that power that did this to you. The only reason I used it in the first place was because I didn't want to see anybody die. But, if worst comes to worst, then I'll have no choice." I said as my heart started beating heavily for a few seconds.

"Looks like it's just the two of us. Little Neela looks like she won't wake up in time. Are you sure you're alright?" Seamus asked me as I just let out a heavy sigh.

"Yeah.... i'm fine. It's not like I can run away from all this anyway. Not like I would though. I'll take anything on and still come out on top!" I said as we gave each other a fist bump. We then exited the inn, leaving Neela inside as we waited for the countdown to hit zero.

"5.... 4.... 3.... 2.... Here we go...." I said as the sky turned blood red and the swirling blue and purple clouds returned, spawning hundreds of enemies from them. They were off in the distance though, meaning we had a bit of a trek to reach the action.

"Looks like it's in the mountains this time. Let's get going so we can help the other heroes!" I said as Seamus agreed with me. We "borrowed" a carriage and a Filolial and we headed off towards the forces of the wave.

After about 15 minutes of traveling, we finally arrived on the scene. We stopped in a small village that was currently under attack. There were new enemeies this time. No zombie gladiators or juggernauts, but goblins and lizardmen, each carrying swords, shields and spears.

"Seamus, give me a boost to my strength and then spread out! Find any civilians and protect them!" I ordered as Seamus took out his club and began to play a song. I felt the waves of his song penetrate me and I could feel my body growing in strength.

"Thanks Seamus! Now, get moving! We'll regroup in the centre of the village!" I said as we split up and headed towards our own set of enemies. I quickly ran into some of the village people and they were fleeing from three lizardmen.

"Everyone, get behind me! I'm one of the cardinal heroes, I can protect you!" I told them as they ran behind me. I pulled out my axe and readied myself for battle.

"Now, Ice Titan Axe!" I shouted as my weapon changed forms. The lizardmen hissed at me as they all swung their swords at me. I countered by meeting their weapons and freezing them on contact. Their blades shattered to pieces and I went on to defeat them all each with one slash of my weapon.

"Everyone, evacuate the village and head down the mountain! There's far less enemies down the trail! You'll be safer there!" I said as I turned to face the villagers. They seemed to understand as they all ran in the direction I told them.

"Meteor shot!" I heard someone yell as I turned around and saw another lizardman getting ready to strike me. But before it could swing its blade down at me, it was struck in the head by a flaming arrow. The lizardman fell over and turned into dust as I looked to where the arrow came from. Standing on top of a nearby roof was Itsuki and below him was his party.

"You need someone to watch your back! Where's the rest of your party!?" Itsuki said as he jumped off the roof and ran over to me with his party.

"We split up to cover more ground and defend more villagers at the same time. What's the situation here? Have you found the boss monster yet?" I asked him as he gave me a nod.

"Yes. Ren and Motoyasu have gone off to face them. They're over there." Itsuki explained, pointing to a flying pirate ship in the sky.

"Well, at least it's easy to notice. Have you seen Naofumi anywhere?" I asked him as he shook his head.

"Not yet. He's probably off doing nothing to aid any of us." Itsuki said as I grabbed his right wrist.

"Listen, I know it may be hard to believe, but he's trying harder than any of us, even harder than me to succeed here. And i'm leveling up much slower than all of you! So stop saying such rude things about him already and just accept him as someone who's here to help! Othrwise, we'll never beat all the waves!" I said as I spun around and struck a goblin that was sneaking up behind me.

"Fine. But just for the wave. Now, gather your party members. We're heading for that ship." Itsuki said as I gave him a nod. I whistled as loud as I could, and I could do it pretty loudly, and I heard Seamus yell over to me.

"I'm on my way! Just get goin'! I'll catch up soon!" He yelled as I just sighed.

"Well, you heard him. Let's go." I said as we headed off to the flying pirate ship.

We made it just below where it was flying and Itsuki fired an arrow that was attached to a long piece of rope. It latched onto the side of the ship and it allowed us to climb up to the deck. When we got there, Ren's party was fighting what looked like a zombie pirate captain and Motoyasu's party was fighting a kraken that seemed to nest inside the ship itself.

"What're you doing, Motoyasu!? We need to take care of the skeleton first!" Ren yelled to him as they stood back to back.

"We're gonna have to take out the kraken first or the boss won't spawn!" Motoyasu yelled back to him as I just sighed and walked up to them both.

"Both of you, shut up! This is no time for bickering!" Me and another person yelled. I looked up and jumping down from the crow's nest of the ship was Naofumi. Filo and Raphtalia landed shortly after.

"Oh great.... you're here." Ren said, looking at Naofumi.

"Why don't you both go defend some village." Motoyasu said as I just gave him a glare.

"I agree! Incompetent heroes who can't fight are-" Myne began to say but Naofumi cut in.

"You're the incompetent ones! Now, stop wasting time! If we don't stop the waves, more monsters will come! And then I can't do my job! But you-" Naofumi began to say but the zombie captain appeared behind him and tried to strike him. Naofumi blocked its sword and then I jumped in and knocked the zombie captain away.

"Instead of working together, we're all just doing what we want! If we lose, all the villagers will die and so will you! So quit thinking this is some sort of game cause it's not!" Naofumi said as Ren stepped forward.

"Don't you think I know that by now! That's why i'm hitting the skeleton to spawn the boss!" He explained.

"Ha! You killed it earlier but nothing spawned." Motoyasu replied.

"We have to kill it more than once to make it work!" Ren yelled back to him.

"Jeez, this is getting nowhere. I've gotta step in and talk some sense into these idiots." I thought as I stepped in between Ren and Motoyasu.

"ENOUGH! Listen to yourselves! You sound like animals! Do any of you even realize why we were summoned here!? It's because we have to work together to defeat the forces f the wave! And right now, I don't see any of us working together at all! So put aside your differences, ideas and beliefs, even if it's just for a moment! Because in these waves, if we don't come together, then everything will fall apart.... and it'll be all our faults." I said as I threw my axe towards the zombie captain and struck it in the head. It froze immediately and then shattered into pieces. I then walked over and picked up my axe but the zombie captain began to regenerate its body.

"Ren, do you see now? I just killed this zombie too and do you see any boss spawning? No, I didn't think so. And Motoyasu, have you killed the kraken yet?" I asked him as he gave me a nod.

"And let me guess, it came back to life, just like the zombie here?" I asked as he gave me another nod.

"Then the answer should be as clear as freakin' daylight! We need to destroy them together!" I explained as Myne walked over and slapped my face.

"Silence, you witch! You tried to murder my father, the king! Why should we listen to anything you have to say!?" She shouted in my face as I threw a punch at her face. But I stopped only an inch away. She looked terrified.

"Oh, so he told you about my meeting with him. That i'm onto you. I bet that's left you shaking in your pretty little boots, hasn't it, bitch." I said as I pulled my fist away. Myne backed away and over to Motoyasu who she proceeded to cower behind.

"She threatened to kill me too, just like what she did to my father! Motoyasu, strike her down!" Myne ordered as Motoyasu stepped forward. I raised my fist up though and cracked it.

"Do I have to beat you again in place for her?" I intimidatingly said to him as he suddenly looked afraid and took a step back.

"That's what I thought." I said as Naofumi came back into the fray.

"Look, just forget about what's been going on right now and focus! I figured out how to beat both of these enemies at once!" He explained as we all gave him his full attention.

"Raphtalia, use your light magic and aim it upwards!" Naofumi said as Raphtalia gave him a nod. She held both of her hands straight out and began producing light from them.

"As source of thy power, I order thee! Decipher the laws of nature and illuminate my surroundings! Fast Light!" She shouted as a large ball of light floated up into the sky. It brightened up the ship and it seemed to hurt the zombie captain and kraken. But, when I took a closer look, it turned out to be their shadows that were in pain. They rose off of the ground and floated nearby.

"Now! Attack those shadows!" Naofumi said as me and Ren ran forward. I struck the zombie shadow and he slashed at the kraken shadow. We sliced them both in two and they seemed to disintegrate into dust.

"That takes care of them. Now...." I began to say as dozens of purple spirits began to rise up from the ship. They floated upward into the sky and they came together, forming a large purple cloud. And then, emerging from the cloud was the boss monster. It looked like a white ghost with large claws and shark-like teeth. It was labeled "Soul Eater."

"Thunderbolt Slash! Thunder Arrow! Lightning Spear!" Ren, Itsuki, and Motoyasu yelled as they each shot off their electric attacks at the soul eater. Their attacks combined into one and they struck the monster head on. But when the smoke cleared, the soul eater was still there and it's health gauge read that it was nearly full.

"Holy crap, that didn't do a thing to it! How're we supposed to damage this thing if that's all three of our strongest attacks did to it!?" I questioned as the soul eater began to charge up an attack. A ball of green energy was forming in its mouth and it was getting ready to fire.

"Come on! We've got to take it out before it unleashes that thing!" Ren said as he and Motoyasu charged the monster.

"Raphtalia, Filo, Ayuma! Get behind me, now!" Naofumi said as I ran over and stood by his side.

"Now, air strike shield!" He shouted as his large green shied formed in front of all of us as the soul eater launched its attack. It struck the deck of the ship and created a massive explosion that engulfed nearly everyone except for us. When the dust cleared, everyone was down. The only ones who were barely even able to get back up were the other heroes. But the soul eater let out a shrieking roar as it began to charge up another one of those attacks.

"If we keep chipping away at it, it'll die eventually. But still.... if we take too long, the village will be destroyed!" Naofumi said as I looked to him.

"What do you suggest then? Do you have a way to beat that thing in one go?" I asked him.

"All of you..... I'm going to use the Curse Shield.... Forgive me." Naofumi said as Raphtalia took his hand.

"Don't you remember what I told you? You can always count on me to be your sword. I will follow you through fire and brimstone. Never forget it." Raphtalia said as Naofumi gave her a nod. He then looked to me.

"Take care of Raphtalia and Filo if anything goes wrong." He said to me as I put my right hand on his shoulder.

"We'll be right here by your side. Please, be careful." I said as he gave me a nod and turned to face the soul eater. He then morphed his shield into the deadly form.

"Come forth, Curse Shield!" Naofumi said as his Shield grew in size, turning black and red and dawning multiple red symbols of curses. His body's veins began to glow red too, like it was sucking away at his own life force. He was shouting at the top of his lungs, almost like he was in pain. And appearing on the upper half of his body was this dark armor. It covered his chest and arms and then suddenly, his shield burst into flames. Naofumi's eyes shot open and they were blood red.

Naofumi then charged the soul eater and smashed his shield into it. The soul eater burst into flames like the shield and it wailed in pain.

"He's basically turned into a wild beast. That's not how a hero's supposed to fight." Myne said as she was now standing up.

"And what is that supposed to mean? Actually, why are you all just standing around!? He's fighting all by himself and we're just doing nothing! We need to work together so we can take that thing down and end this wave!" I said to all of them.

"Miserable witch, what do you know?" Myne said to me as I walked up to her and glared at her stupid face.

"I know that I was summoned here as one of this world's five cardinal heroes. And the same is said for all of you. But how can we call ourselves the heroes if all we do is just stand here and do nothing!? Naofumi may be fighting like a beast, but at least he's actually fighting. And that makes more of a hero than any of us here. So shut your mouth, you bitch. What do you know?" I said as I spit on her face.

"I really don't care what any of you do now. But i'm going to do my job and help Naofumi kill this damn monster!" I said as I raised my axe and changed its form.

"Dragon Heart Axe!" I shouted as my axe burst into flames and I charged the soul eater.

"Thunder Shot! Crimson Blade!" Itsuki and Ren shouted as they unleashed attacks as well. But Motoyasu remained still.

"Why should I have to help that bastard!? It's not right!" Motoyasu said.

"I hear you, but now's not the time!" Itsuki said to him. Motoyasu seemed to give in though as he raised up his weapon to fight. The five of us finally came together and attacked the soul eater all at once.

"Curse Shield! Searing Dragon's Roar! Meteor Spear! Meteor Shot! Meteor Slash!" We all cried as we blasted the soul eater with our strongest attacks. We blew it back and it broke apart the central mast of the ship. But to our surprise, the soul eater got back up. It's health gauge was still at 75% health.

"That's all that did!?" We questioned as the soul eater unleashed that same attack from before.

"Gotta stop it from hitting everyone!" I thought as I threw my axe to meet the giant green beam head on. Our attacks met and a colossal explosion engulfed the ship. It blew me back but Raphtalia was able to catch me. My axe landed near my feet and I picked it up to continue fighting.

"Everyone.... I'm.... going to end this...." Naofumi said as we looked to him. His eyes weren't red anymore. And even though his shield was still in its curse form, it started to glow green like it normally does.

"Now, Shield Prison!" Naofumi yelled as he engulfed the soul eater in a large metal ball that was wrapped in chains.

"Whatever you're doing, you'd better do it quick! I don't think that'll hold it for very long!" I said as the Soul Eater was already trying to break out.

"And now, Chain Shield!" Naofumi yelled as, from inside the shield prison, the soul eater began to shriek in agonizing pain.

"Within this virgin of cold ore, it shall swallow even your dreams with her cold embrace. Suffer in anguish as your entire body is stabbed and skewered! I cast the Iron Maiden!" Naofumi chanted as a hole in the sky opened up. Appearing from the hole was an enormous metal casket. It opened up and revealed hundreds of deadly spikes along the inside and the doors. The shield prison began to float upwards into the sky until it reached the casket.

"Now, close!" Naofumi said as he closed his right hand into a fist. The casket too began to close and the spikes began to penetrate the shield prison and the soul eater. Its screams could be heard until the casket finally shut. And when all was said and done, the casket disappeared and the body of the soul eater began to fall to the earth. Its body was covered in holes and its eyes were lifeless. It was dead.

"Finally over." Naofumi said as he deactivated his Curse Shield, changing it back to its standard form. He then collapsed to his knees.

"Are you alright!?" Raphtalia asked him as me, her, and Filo all ran over to him.

"Why? Don't I look alright?" He jokingly said.

"How were you able to gain control over your Curse Shield? I thought it was like my power, unable to be controlled whatsoever." I said as he just shrugged his shoulders. \

"Don't know. I just... did it, I guess." Naofumi said as I just rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, I kinda expected you to say that. Well, at least we finally beat the boss." I said as suddenly, an intense wave of energy surged through the air.

"Did anyone else feel that!?" I frantically asked. And then, appearing through the deck of the ship was a second soul eater.

"No way! There's another one!?" Itsuki questioned as the soul eater let out its shrieking roar. But as it did that, dozens of light bullets began to rain down from the sky and shred the monster. They struck all over its body and killed it instantly.

"How very disappointing." A strange new voice said as everyone began to look around. Jumping down from one of the ships masts was a woman in a dark coloured kimono. She had black hair and she was holding a couple of fans.

"You actually have trouble with weaklings like these? Are you really the heroes holding the world's fate in their hands?" The woman asked as she walked up to us all, stopping about fifteen feet away.

"There's only one among you worthy of being called hero. And what is your name?" The woman asked, looking directly at Naofumi.

"How about you introduce yourself before asking someone's name." Naofumi said as the woman briefly giggled.

"Oh, pardon me, whatever happened to my manners? I am called Glass and that is all you need to know for now. Feel free to consider me your enemy." She said as she held up one of her fans.

"You can call me Naofumi." He said to her.

"Naofumi, eh? Well, well.... then may I suggest we begin..... the only battle of this wave worthy of the name." Glass said as she unfolded both of her fans and prepared to fight.
