And so the Family Grows
The great battle is finally over. After everyone gave everything they had, whether it be against the forces of the wave, the heroes from another world or the threat of the demon itself, our heroes emerged victorious. The darkness is finally gone for good. Ayu is free thanks to, what might be, the most badass king ever(in my opinion). And honestly, to the person who created Krystal(you know who you are), thank god you said their healing magic could resurrect a dead person, otherwise, well..... no more king. But we don't have to suffer through that now!! Thank you sstarry_moonlight for creating an awesome OC! I promise i'll treat her well! Now, enough talk! Let's get back into the story! Enjoy!
Also, I just began my first ever original story! It's another Isekai genre series like this one, only it's based in the future, rather than a medieval realm. It's titled "A Hero Out of Time," and i'm looking for ideas for new OC's. If you want your character featured in the story, then please do not hesitate to send me your ideas. Anyways, now i'm pretty sure I have everything I wanted to say out of the way. Enjoy!
You know, if someone had told me that I was going to be summoned to an entirely new world, fight hordes of monsters and zombies, be branded a traitor and become enslaved, fall into a coma, become one with a genocidal demon and then bring an everlasting darkness onto the world, i'd tell you that you're absolutely crazy.
But, as crazy as it may have sounded, it all happened..... and, I, along with everyone else I had met along my journey persevered through it and emerged victorious.
Now, you'd think after everything I went through, i'd want to leave this place and never come back. You'd be wrong though. Because of the friendships and family I've become a part of, I never want to leave this place. I'll stay and fight for as long as I live. All so long as I get to be with the ones I cherish most.
Neela..... Alex..... Naofumi..... Raphtalia..... Filo..... Melty..... Her majesty..... I love you all!
After the battle against the dreaded demon finally came to its conclusion, rescue ships quickly arrived at our location. Our original plan was to head back to Melromarc but we received word that a terrible storm was in between us and the country. So, we instead went back to Cal Mira to have some much need rest and relaxation.
Me and Alex were taken to the town's medical building as soon as we arrived. We received the most life-threatening injuries among anyone. But, luckily for us, Cal Mira had some nurses who had some incredible healing magic. They did all they had to do and then informed us that we had to stay and rest for an hour or two before we could start walking again.
Alex had fallen asleep during the time he was being healed, and, honestly, I don't blame him. After everything I heard he did, he deserved a nice long rest. Facing the demon alone, and equally matching it in power, now that's amazing. But..... something else was bothering me. It was what Neela told me about these so-called "Heroes from another world."
She told me her, Alex, Naofumi, and everyone else encountered a man known as L'arc and his companion Therese when they came to Cal Mira. They started off as friendly as could be, even helping them all out while they searched for me on the islands. But, it all changed when the wave struck. Their true intentions were revealed, that they're from a world like ours, fighting the waves, and that they must destroy the heroes of our world to save theirs. And, the worst news....Glass is one of them too. And, as much as I don't want to admit it, but, the only reason I was able to overpower her before during the second wave was because of the demonic power. If I were to face her again without it, then..... well, I don't know.
And, i'm sure it won't be long until we see them again. I'd even bet that we'll see them during the next wave. I just hope that i'm back to full strength by then. But, if there's one thing I can thank the demon for, it's raising my level up by a huge margin. Before it took me away, I was only sitting at level 35, but during the time we were together, I went all the way up to 73. I just wish I could remember what we did to gain so many levels.
But the demon is something that I no longer have to worry about now. It's finally gone.... for real this time. I can actually say this with there being absolutely no consequences now.
"I'm...... FREE!!!!!!"
It felt amazing to know that the endless suffering was finally over. To know that none of my companions wouldn't be hurt anymore. Honestly, it wasn't just me. We were all free. And this happy thought stayed in my mind until I finally fell into a calm deep sleep. Something that I hadn't experienced once since I came to this world.
-3 Hours later-
I awoke to a massive itch in my back. I sat up in my bed, most of the pain gone now, and I began to scratch my back. But I pulled out some black feathers in the process.
"Right..... I guess these things never went away, even though the demon's gone now." I thought to myself as I looked over my shoulder and got a good look at my black wings. They were back to being small in size, only spreading out to three feet in length each. But, at least I had a somewhat decent control over them now.
"How can Filo focus when these things get so itchy?" I asked myself as I stopped scratching and got out of bed. My legs were a bit shaky at first but I quickly regained my balance and stood straight up. I had received a new eye patch to wear and, by now, it wasn't annoying me anymore. Thank god for that. I then looked around the room but saw Alex wasn't in his bed anymore.
"He must've got up before me and got some fresh air." I thought to myself as I left the room. I met a nurse outside the door and she asked me how I was doing.
"My head feels so clear now. Thank you very much for healing me and my companion." I said to her as she gave me a smile and a nod before leaving. I then walked all around the medical building but Alex was nowhere to be found. I knew he couldn't be with Neela since she went off with Naofumi and his party earlier to let me rest.
"Maybe he went to see the queen and Melty." I thought as I started trekking my way to where her majesty was staying in Cal Mira. It wasn't a far walk, as she was staying in the most luxurious inn on the island. The guards happily let me in as I walked to the top floor to her room. I knocked so she knew I was there.
"Who is it?" I heard the queen ask.
"It's Ayuma, the axe hero." I said.
"Oh, Ayuma, please do come inside." The queen said as I opened the door and closed it behind me. The queen was sitting at the edge of her balcony in a chair, along with Melty standing next to her left side.
"Pardon my intrusion, your majesty, but have you seen Alex anywhere? I wanted to talk to him when I woke from my rest but he was missing from his bed. Is there a chance you might know where he is?" I asked her as she giggled a bit.
"You actually just missed him. He was here about five minutes ago and said he was going into the market to look for something." The queen explained to me as I sighed.
"Just my luck. Of course I just missed him." I said to myself as someone else started knocking on the door.
"You may enter." The queen said as Xev and Krystal entered the room.
"Hello, Xev. It's been a while, hasn't it?" The queen asked him as they exchanged smiles.
"It truly has been too long." Xev said to her as he and Krystal bowed to her.
"Now, what can I do for you two?" The queen asked them.
"Well ma'am, you see, we had originally come to you to ask for permission to do something, but, with the axe hero here, it's probably better we just ask her." Krystal explained as the two of them now looked at me.
"So, you're the axe hero who's caused all this trouble for everyone? You're one tough woman, that's for sure!" Xev jokingly said as he lightly punched my left arm.
"Yeah, that's me alright. And i'm thankful for everything you two have done for all of us. Truly, I am. Especially you, Krystal, for bringing Alex back to life." I said as I bowed to the both of them.
"Just be thankful I had just enough magic energy to pull it off. But now, I can't use that spell for a good month. So don't go dying on us, now." Krystal said to me with a wink as I responded with a nod.
"Anyways, you two said you came looking for me, right? What exactly do you want?" I asked them as they looked at each other for a moment.
"Well, we've come to make a deal with you." Xev said as I became curious.
"What kind of deal?" I asked him.
"Well, seeing as you destroyed our beloved ship during the battle, we feel as though you owe us something." Krystal explained as I became a little worried.
"And what is it that you want from me?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing much. Just for you to make us members of your party, that's all." Xev explained as my worries quickly dashed.
"Wait, what?" I asked.
"You heard us. We want to become your party members so we can go on those awesome adventures with you, make some nice coin and eventually buy us a new ship." Krystal explained to me.
"Wouldn't it just be easier to just as her majesty to get you a new ship?" I asked them.
"Nope. If it's just given to us like that, then it's not worth anything to us. We believe that if you want something, you have to work hard to obtain it. So, that's why we want to join you on your party." Xev explained to me as they both kneeled down in front of me on one knee.
"Will you, Ayuma Saruwatari, the axe hero, allow us to join your party as your companions?" They both asked me simultaneously.
"Well, I guess I really do owe them for destroying their ship. And, I couldn't be more thankful after everything they've done for my friends, so...." I thought as I took a deep breath and spoke my answer.
"Yes. You two can become part of my party. Welcome." I said as my status magic opened up. It asked me if I wanted to add both of them as companions, and I clicked "yes" for both of them. Their stats then appeared for me, Xev having a tank-like role while Krystal was labeled as a healer. Xev used swords and reflection magic while Krystal used both healing and light magic. Both of them truly have some amazing skills.
"Thank you, ma'am. We promise we won't let you down." Krystal said as they both stood up.
"I'm sure you won't either. Now, come here, you two." I said as I brought them in for a hug.
"Thank you so much for everything..... and welcome to our family." I said as I shed a tear from my eye.
"It'll be an honor to serve you, miss. Many good times await us." Xev said as I let go of them and wiped away the tears.
"I now see what makes you so strong, Ayuma." The queen said to me as I looked over to her.
"It's your ability to bring others together. It's a strength that's more powerful than anything else. And you wield it with the purest of hearts. I see why my son has taken such a liking to you." The queen said as I started to blush. But then, the thought dawned on me that I still had to find Alex.
"Uh, I really should be going now. Thank you for your time, your majesty." I said as I bowed to her and walked over to exit the room.
"And Xev, Krystal, i'll see you two later. For now, just have some fun and relax." I said to them as they gave me some nods. I then left the room, closing the door behind me as I then left the inn, heading towards the market where Alex supposedly was.
I wandered through the market for what felt like an hour(only 10 minutes) but I just couldn't find Alex anywhere.
"Why is it when I want to find someone, I can never seem to find them at all?" I questioned as someone started to shout my name.
"Miss Ayuma!" I heard Neela shout as I turned around to see her and Naofumi's party running towards me. They nearly tackled me but stopped about three feet away.
"Oh, it's so good to see you up on your feet, miss Ayuma!" Neela said as she walked up and hugged me. I hugged back and suddenly had a warm feeling fill my body.
"She's right. After everything this world has put you through, it's honestly surprising to see you can still stand. But, I guess that just shows how strong you really are." Naofumi said to me as I thanked him and let go of Neela. But, something struck me curious. Someone was hiding behind Naofumi, peering around him, looking a little afraid. It was a girl, around Neela's height with long braided green hair, yellow eyes, some silver armor over her chest, a blue combat outfit that went down to her knees, and some brown gloves on her hands.
"Wait, who's that, Naofumi?" I asked him as he stepped aside to reveal the girl to me.
"This is Rishia. She used to be part of Itsuki's party but he and the rest of his members kicked her out for being too "useless." Just goes to show how blind he can really be. No one's useless in this world." Naofumi said as I walked up to Rishia. She looked afraid of me as I bent down to meet her at eye level.
"Hello, Rishia. My name's Ayuma, i'm the axe hero. It's nice to meet you." I said as I held my hand out to her and gave her a smile. She smiled back and we shook hands.
"It's..... nice to meet you too fweeeeee...."(Pronounced: Fway. It's kinda her thing) She said to me as I giggled a bit before standing straight up again and looking to Naofumi.
"So, Itsuki and the rest of his members dropped her? Jeez, and I thought he was supposed to be the nice one of the other three heroes. I'll make him pay." I said as Naofumi put his right hand on my shoulder.
"No, you won't. I took responsibility over Rishia by adding her to my party, so this is my business. I thank you for the offer to help, but I shouldn't need you this time to deal with Itsuki." Naofumi explained to me as I sighed and nodded in agreement.
"Alright then. I'll leave him to you. But anyways, have you seen Alex anywhere? I've been looking for him for a while now." I asked.
"Actually, we just saw him at the port. If you go now, he might still be there." Neela explained to me as I turned and started running for the port.
"Thank you! I'll see you all later!" I shouted to them as I rounded a corner. Luckily for me, the port was only a two minute run from the market. I made it in no time and started searching for Alex. And it didn't take me long at all to find him. I could recognize his blonde hair from a mile away. And, I spotted him, just sitting at the edge of a dock with his feet dangling over the water. I walked over and sat down next to him, dangling my feet over the edge as well.
"Hey, Alex...." I said to him as he looked to me with a big smile on his feet.
"Hey, Ayu....." He said to me.
"That's weird. He's never called me "Ayu," before." I thought to myself.
"It sure is lovely out here, isn't it? The wind blowing in your hair, and the sound of the waves drifting by." Alex said as I agreed with him. And, as I was about to say something to him, he interrupted me.
"Care to join me on a boat ride?" He asked me as I happily agreed. And, there just so happened to be a rowboat next to us at the side of the dock. He hopped in and helped me step in by holding my hand. I sat down and he untied us from the dock. He then grabbed onto the oars and rowed us out into the ocean, far away from the island.
"Where exactly are we going, Alex?" I asked him as he started to look tired from all the rowing.
"Don't worry, Ayu. We're almost..... there." He said while panting as the sun had set at this point, allowing the stars to fill the night sky. Alex lit a lantern in the boat so we could see each other and, after a few more minutes of him rowing, he told me we finally arrived at our destination.
"Now, look up." Alex told me as I looked up at the stars. And the sight was absolutely beautiful. A meteor shower had just begun. There were so many colours, each more amazing than the last. Some meteors were red, while some were yellow, green, and even purple. I'm sure my eyes lit up with all the same colours.
"I always like to keep track of events like these. They're things people don't get to see too often. And, I feel its best when you get to share the enjoyment with the ones you care for the most." Alex said as he moved his left hand over, putting it on top of mine. That warm feeling returned to me as I started to blush a bit.
"Ayuma....." Alex said as I looked back down and to him. He was staring directly into my eye.
"I really wish I had met you earlier. I might've been able to prevent everything that happened to you." Alex said as he put his head down.
"Hey, don't beat yourself up about it. I'm still here, aren't I? As far as i'm concerned, you did a terrific job saving me." I said as he raised his head back up.
"I just wish I could've been there for you during all those times. I would've ensured nothing bad would've happened to you." Alex said to me as giggled a bit.
"Honestly, at the very least, i'm just glad that we met. And besides, you were there for me. Because, if you weren't, then i'd still be in the clutches of that demon. So, I thank you for coming into my life." I said as he shed a few tears from his eyes.
"Ayu...." Alex began to say as he paused for a moment.
"Yes, Alex?" I asked him as he took a deep breath.
"Since the day we first met, you're all I've been able to think about. From your beauty, to your amazing cooking skills, to your lovable personality, you've charmed me in a way that no other woman has...." Alex began to say.
"What exactly is he getting at with all this?" I thought to myself.
"Ayu, you already know I love you, as I've expressed in the past, and I know as well that you show feelings towards me...." He said as his breathing got even heavier.
"Yes....?" I asked as he went on.
"With you, I actually feel true to myself for once. You made me love myself. And, a woman who can do that is no less than my soulmate, is what I believe. So...." Alex said as he went down to one knee in front of me and pulled a tiny box out of his pocket.
"Will you, Ayuma Saruwatari, marry me, Alexander Melromarc III?" He asked me as he opened the box to reveal a ring with a sparkling red jewel encrusted in it. I could feel as my entire face turned a bright red, probably the same colour as the jewel.
"Did he just..... WHAT!?" I thought in disbelief as I nearly fainted from the surprise.
"I, uh....." I staggered to say as Alex put his head down again. I'm sure he was thinking that I was trying to say no.
"What're you doing, Ayuma!? Calm the F*** down and tell him how you really feel! Breathe girl!" My inner voice said to me as I inhaled and exhaled and then took Alex's free hand with my right hand.
"You know, Alex.... that moment when you asked if you could become a member of my party, I honestly wanted you from the moment we first met. And, when I added you, I felt as though there was more to it then you just becoming my companion...." I began to say as he raised his head back up.
"I felt an even stronger connection than I have with even Neela, and..... well, I just couldn't stop thinking about it. And, after everything that's happened, and all the time I had to think about it, I finally know what this feeling really is. I love you too, Alex...." I said to him as he started to cry even more.
"And so, from the bottom of my heart and in its truest form....." I said as I moved closer to him.
"I will marry you." I said as we sealed it with a kiss.
"Wait..... Alex, won't this make me the queen?" I asked him as he shook his head.
"Unfortunately, no. Only those of royal blood can inherit the title. However, you cannot become the queen by my side, you shall become a princess, just like my sisters." Alex explained to me as my head might as well have started to spin.
"REALLY!? I'm going to be a princess!? If this is a dream, then please, don't wake me up!" I said as Alex pinched my arm.
"Ow!" I said as he laughed a bit.
"There, see? Not a dream. It's real, Ayu. It's actually happening." Alex said to me as I sighed in relief.
"This is all just..... wow. I never would've imagined that question be asked to me so soon in my life..... but, i'm glad it came at this time." I told Alex as he took the ring out of the box and then held up my left hand. Since I didn't actually have any ring fingers left, Alex had to put the ring on my middle finger instead. Luckily, it was a perfect fit. I raised my hand up with it on it and the jewel sparkled so much in the moonlight.
"I love it!" I said as I brought my hand down and then tackled Alex to the bottom of the rowboat.
"And I love you, Alex!" I said as I kissed him again.
"And I, you, Ayuma! I'll always be by your side! Now and forever until the day we die!" Alex said as I got off of him and laid next to him in the bottom of the boat.
"Alex...." I said to him as he turned his head to look at me.
"Yes, Ayu?" He asked me as we started holding hands.
"Thank you." I said to him as we went on to watch the rest of the meteor through the night.
-4 Days Later-
-Note from yours truly: Yeah, I just revealed my actual name. And I love doing things like this and making memes. Figured you'd all get the message much, much better if I included this :) BTW, the answer to the clue from the previous update chapter was: Royal Wedding
The big day had finally arrived. We were back in Melromarc and the word spread fast about me and Alex marrying each other. People were gathering in the throne room to the castle where the ceremony would take place. And, seeing how many people were coming to watch, I was starting to become a nervous wreck.
"Breathe, Ayuma, breathe......" I said, trying to calm myself so I wouldn't faint or do something embarrassing when I went into the throne room.
"Are you telling me, you're nervous? You're one of the five cardinal heroes, aren't you supposed to be fearless?" My hair stylist said to me as she finished my hair.
"In most cases, yes, but this.... this is a whole 'nother league. This is one of the three most important days in a persons life. And every single time, the person prays everything goes right." I explained to her as she giggled.
"Well, you'd better start acting fearless again, because this whole thing's about to kick off soon. Now, for the final touch." My hair stylist said as she brought in a small polished wooden box and placed it on a desk next to my chair.
"What's in the box?" I asked her as she opened it, but it was facing away from me so I couldn't see inside it.
"Well, marrying the king comes with some very nice quirks....." The woman said as she picked up the object in the box.
"Like becoming a princess!" She said as she revealed a gorgeous tiara, encrusted with jewels ranging from sapphires, to ruby's to pink diamonds.
"Is that...... really for me?" I asked her as she just rolled her eyes.
"Do you see anyone else in this room who could be a princess? I didn't think so. Now, enough talk. Try it on." She said as she handed it over to me. I took it and held it in both of my hands in front of me. I then lifted it up and placed it atop my head. And then..... I started to cry.
"AH! No, no, no, you can't cry now! That'll ruin your makeup!" My hair stylist said to me but I just couldn't help it.
"I'm sorry. I just..... I never thought this day would ever come for me.... that's all...." I said as I carefully wiped away the tears without removing my makeup.
"Miss Ayuma....." I heard someone say as I turned my head around to see who called my name. At the entrance to the room stood Neela, wearing a stunning red dress that went down to her knees. Her hair had been styled to perfection and her makeup made her look just so..... well, beautiful.
"The ceremony's about to begin. Are you ready?" She asked me as I took another deep breath and nodded.
"Yes..... I am." I said to her as I stood up from my seat and walked over to her. She took a nice long look at my tiara and smiled at me.
"That looks lovely on you, mother. I'm so happy for you!" She said as we held hands, her left and my right.
"Thank you, Neela. I'm really glad you could be here for this." I said to her as she thanked me. We walked all the way until we stopped at the entrance to the throne room. The doors were closed and we could hear music coming from inside. Once the music stopped, we would enter.
"Normally, in my world, when a woman is about to marry someone, it's their father who walks her down the aisle. But, with my family being in a whole different world, I really am happy to have a new family here. Neela.... my daughter..... i'm forever grateful to have met you all that time ago." I thought to myself as we heard the music stop.
"Here we go...." I said as I took one last deep breath as the doors to the throne room opened. We both stepped inside and made our way down the aisle. Everyone who had come was standing for us. I could see Erhard was here and he gave me a thumbs up. Myn- or, uh, Slut was standing next to Motoyasu in the front row. Her shiny new head stood out from a mile away. Itsuki's party members were on the other side of the aisle, also sitting in the front row.
And, at the end of it all, stood her majesty and Alex himself. Behind Alex were his groomsmen. He had appointed Naofumi as his best man, followed by Xev, Ren, and Itsuki. As for myself, I had appointed Neela as my maid of honor, followed by Raphtalia, Krystal, and Rishia. They all wore their lovely suits and dresses, and Alex wore his king's attire, with his green suit, dark red and white furry cloak and his crown. Me and Neela arrived at the front where I stopped to face Alex. Neela let go of my hand and stepped behind me so she could take her position.
"Are both of you ready?" The queen asked us as she stepped forward. We both gave her a nod and she cleared her throat.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in holy matrimony to witness the coming together of King Alexander Melromarc III, and Princess Ayuma Saruwatari. If any of you here wish to object, then speak now or forever hold your peace." The queen said but no one spoke out.
"Very well. On this day, in this place, we all come together to bare witness to the marriage of my own son, the current king of Melromarc, and our world's current axe hero. Their love unrivaled even in the face of danger, not even letting the forces of everlasting darkness and destruction separate them. And today, these two choose to become one. Let us pray for them." The queen said as everyone lowered their heads and had a moment of silence to pray for me and Alex.
"Now, may the bearers please present the rings." The queen stated as the doors to the throne room opened again. Walking in were Melty and Filo, both wearing identical and adorable pink dresses. They each carried a small red pillow in their hands, each having one of our rings on it. They stopped right in front of us and me and Alex took our rings from them, with me taking the one from Filo and Alex from his little sister. The two of them then went and sat in the crowd next to Motoyasu and Slut.
"Do you, King Alexander Melromarc III, take Princess Ayuma Saruwatari to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, until better or worse, until the end of time?" The queen asked her son as he looked me right in the eye and shed a single tear from his left eye.
"I do." Alex said as he put his ring on my left middle finger.
"With this ring, I thee wed." Alex said to me as the queen then turned her attention towards me.
"And, do you, Princess Ayuma Saruwatari, take King Alexander Melromarc III to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, for better or worse, until the end of time?" The queen asked me as I looked back at Alex, starting to cry myself.
"I do." I happily said as I placed my ring on his left ring finger.
"With this ring, I thee wed." I said to Alex, making it official.
"Then, with the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband..... and wife. You may kiss the bride." The queen announced as Alex brought his hands up to my cheeks, leaned in and kissed me.

Trishula: This music is just too perfect for this scenario
Everyone began to clap and cheer for us as they'd just bared witness to the birth of their newest king and princess. This feeling...... It was simply incredible.
"So, Ayuma Saruwatari of Melromarc, how does it feel to officially be one of this country's princesses?" Alex asked me as I just want to faint at the sound of that name.
"No words can describe how i'm feeling right now. Let's just enjoy this moment for as long as we can..... my king and husband." I said as we kissed again. The crowd cheered even louder as the ceremony had come to a close.
"Mommy....." I heard Neela say from behind me as I stopped kissing Alex to turn and face her. She and all the others bridesmaids were crying and Neela walked up to hug me.
"I'm..... I'm..... I'm so happy for you!" She said as she cried into my dress.
"My daughter...... Or, I guess I should say "our daughter," right, Alex?" I asked as I turned to face him. He walked over and joined in on the hug.
"Right." He said.
"Papa......" Neela said as she now cried even more.
"Our family grows once again. And nothing will ever bring us apart." I said as they both agreed with me.
If you were to tell me that i'd be sent to some medieval realm, fight hordes of deadly monsters, nearly die several times, adopt a tiger girl, and marry the king of an entire country, i'd tell you that you're crazy. But, as crazy as it may sound, it all happened.
My name is Ayuma Saruwatari, newest princess of Melromarc. I was summoned to this world as one of its five cardinal heroes, chosen by the axe. I, started my journey all alone, with no one to assist or care for me. But, as my journey went on, I found those who would stand up, fight, protect, and love one another. Those people are my family. My tank and "cousin in law," Xev. My healer and "cousin in law," Krystal. My daughter and mage, Neela. And, my husband, knight, and king of Melromarc, Alex. I love each and every one of them, and they share the same feelings to me. And no matter what hardships we may face in the future......
".....Nothing will end our undying love for one another. Our trust. Our..... Family."
