That last chapter was SO LONG! SO MUCH TO COVER! But, there's something more important I have to discuss. It's about Seamus. As some of you may or may not know, he is an OC that was not created by me. He was made by a friend of mine but he now wants Seamus removed from the story. Now, since he isn't my own OC, I do not own the rights to the character and, as such, I have to respect and agree to my friends decision. So, unfortunately, Seamus will no longer be featured in the story. Instead, a new OC will take his place down the line where I believe they are best suited to join. And, if you try to suggest a new OC for me, I'll have you all know that I already have someone on the job. They've given me terrific characters before so, I know they'll make another great one now. Anyways, let's get back into the story! Enjoy!

The next morning, we all gathered together with Fitoria. Today, we'd be leaving her as she was going to send us off somewhere. The only thing we knew is that it would be near one of the other heroes. Our best case scenario would be for us to be close to Itsuki and Ren. If it was Motoyasu, then Naofumi would have a harder time getting him to listen and work together with him. 

"Are you all prepared?" Fitoria asked us all as we nodded. 

"Very well. Portal." She said as the ground beneath us all began to glow. We were engulfed in a bright light that lasted only for a moment. When I opened up my eyes, I saw we were in an entirely new area, with an entirely new landscape. It looked like some sort of plains. I looked around and saw there was a small carriage next to us. Fitoria must've given it to us as a gift. 

"Thank you so much for everything, Fitoria. We really appreciate it." Raphtalia said as we all bowed to her. 

"And thanks for the new carriage you gave us as well." Melty said as I saw Filo start to hug it. She just loved to pull her carriage before, so it was no surprise she was happy now. Fitoria was looking at Filo with a concerned look and Filo took notice and faced her. 

"No take backs! It's all mine, you here!?" Filo shouted as she transformed into her bird form. 

"She gave it to all of us, Filo. Play nice." Naofumi said as he then turned to Fitoria. 

"Hey, Fitoria, is there another hero close by?" He asked her as she nodded. 

"Very close, in fact. But I am not aware of which one it is." She said. 

"Great, thanks." Naofumi replied. 

"Shield hero, please take good care of her. And don't forget, you made me a promise." Fitoria said as he nodded to her. 

"I know. I'll do what I can. I'll try my best to reconcile with the other three heroes and i'll do my best to wake Ayuma." He said as Fitoria nodded. 

"Very good. Then i'll be off now. I must return to the sanctuary. Good luck to you all." Fitoria said as she vanished before our eyes. 

"Alright then. Let's hit the road!" Naofumi said as we all climbed onto the carriage. We were able to figure out we were near the border of Melromarc and another country after examining our map. Naofumi decided we should head for the border to cross it. And as soon as he decided, we took off. 

Nearly an hour later, the border was in view. We stopped about a kilometer away so we could figure out what our next move was. The border looked like it was a massive wall that stretched across the land for hundreds of miles. 

"If we could just get past that wall, we'd be on the other side of the border." Raphtalia explained as she was reading the map. 

"Are there any other routes we can take, Raphtalia?" Alex asked her. 

"Well, we could take a detour, but if we do then it would cost us a few more days on the road." She explained. 

"Yes, but Fitoria said there was another hero not too far from here, didn't she? It might make sense to take that detour anyway." Melty said as I looked to Naofumi who looked like he was thinking about our options. 

"What do you think we should do?" I asked him. 

"We'll head straight for that checkpoint. If it's Itsuki or Ren, we might be able to persuade them." Naofumi said as I just clenched my fists. No matter what hero we ran into, I don't know how I could forgive any of them for what they did to miss Ayuma. 

"Okay, but what do we do if that doesn't work out?" Melty asked. 

"Then we'll just have to force our way through." Naofumi said as both Alex and Melty agreed with him. Naofumi looked curious because of their agreement. 

"What is it?" Alex asked him. 

"Well, I figured one of you would try and stop me from doing anything that would make my reputation worse." Naofumi explained as they both shook their heads. 

"There are men out there like Idol who are willing to summon monsters just so they can torment innocent people. This isn't the time to be worried about your reputation." Alex stated. 

"You make a good point. Alright, get ready. We're leaving for the border." Naofumi said as we got back into the carriage and headed straight for the border wall. As we got closer and closer, we could see dozens of royal knights patrolling above the wall. And it was pretty obvious they knew who we were when they started blowing a loud horn through the area. They opened the gate of the border and more knights came out, as well as the hero Fitoria said was close to us. 

"Hey, master look! .....It's that spear guy again." Filo said as I could feel my anger beginning to rise. But she was indeed correct. Motoyasu was there and he was blocking our path through. We stopped about 100 feet from where he stood. 

"So, what do we do to him?" I asked as Naofumi put his right hand on my shoulder. 

"Please stay here. Especially you, Neela. I know how you feel about all the other heroes, but right now, I need to be the one to speak with him. I have to keep my promise to Fitoria. So let me talk with him first. If things don't work out, then you can take my place." Naofumi said as I took a deep breath and tried my best to calm down. 

"Alright..... alright. Go ahead then." I said as Naofumi exited the carriage and walked over to Motoyasu. Everyone else decided to exit the carriage as well and stand in front of it in case a fight broke out. I did the same, watching to see what would happen. 

"Motoyasu, I want to talk. We're not here to start a fight with you. All we're asking is that you let us through." Naofumi explained in a calm and collected manor. 

"Let you through, huh? Is that all?" Motoyasu asked with his head down which confused Naofumi. 

"Is that all you have to say for yourself, traitor!? You damn devil of the shield!" Motoyasu roared as he thrusted his spear straight at Naofumi. Naofumi morphed his shield into a different form and blocked his attack though. The rest of us prepared to fight back but Naofumi stopped us for the moment. 

"Can't you at least listen before you try and take my head off?" Naofumi asked. 

"I won't listen to anyone who uses a brainwashing shield to enslave Filo, Raphtali, and all the others. You're despicable!" Motoyasu yelled as Naofumi rolled his eyes. 

"For the last time, they aren't brainwashed!" Naofumi replied as Motoyasu prepared to attack again. His spear began to produce electricity from the tip. 

"Don't even try to talk your way out of this!" Motoyasu shouted as he struck Naofumi's shield and sent him sliding backwards on his feet. But Naofumi still didn't let us fight back. 

"Damn it, Motoyasu, just hear me out! I don't want to fight you! Hell, last time I didn-" Naofumi tried to say but Motoyasu cut him off. 

"I finally know the reason I was summoned here. I think I might be here specifically to stop you!" Motoyasu said as he began to charge another attack. 

"Meteor Spear!" He shouted as he threw his spear at Naofumi, it glowing with a bright blue light. Naofumi blocked the attack but it created a huge shockwave that started to make the carriage roll away. But I turned and grabbed onto it, luckily stopping it before it took away miss Ayuma. 

"You're still not down yet? You sure are stubborn, i'll give you that." Motoyasu said which made everything clear to us. 

"If that's his attitude, nothing you say will get through to him." Raphtalia said as I began to walk up to where Naofumi was standing. I stopped just a few feet behind him and waited for the right moment to speak. 

"Hey, Motoyasu, why exactly are you so made at me? Is it because I ran away the last time we fought?" Naofumi asked him. 

"Are you that heartless? Were Ren and Itsuki that insignificant to you!? The people call you the devil, and now, I finally understand. You and Ayuma told us the heroes should be on the same team. You both tricked us! We trusted you! You bastard, i'm gonna make you pay!" Motoyasu roared as he swung his spear down on Naofumi. But he blocked the attack once again with his shield. 

"You're done! I'll make sure of it!" Motoyasu shouted as he tried several more times to strike Naofumi. 

"Hey! I don't even know what it is you think I did!" Naofumi said as the two became locked in combat. 

"You're gonna pay! You're gonna pay for what you did to them! Murderer!" Motoyasu cried which confused us all. 

"Murderer? What do you mean!? Who's dead!?" Naofumi questioned as he shoved Motoyasu away from him. 

"Don't play dumb with me, you know what you did! How can you just stand there and don't understand why i'm so angry!? You might as well admit it, you killed them! And yet, here you are!" Motoyasu stated. 

"The heroes of the bow and sword were killed? How could this happen!? Both of them were so strong." Melty asked. 

"You used your brainwashing shield on princess Melty and prince Alexander too!? You'll do anything, won't you!?" Motoyasu asked. 

"I'm not brainwashing anyone! Now, I really need you to listen to me, right now. I didn't kill Ren or Itsuki. Why would I want to do that!?" Naofumi asked. 

"What do you mean!?" Motoyasu replied. 

"Tell me this, did you see their bodies with your own eyes?" Naofumi asked as Motoyasu remained silent. 

"I'll take that as a no. So maybe somebody's lying and-" Naofumi tried to say as another person but in. 

"I think a representative of the church is a reliable church." Myne said as she and the rest of Motoyasu's party stepped through the squadron of knights. With her now here, I was at my tipping point. I was doing everything in my power not to lose it and keep calm. I was clenching my fists so hard that my nails were cutting into the skin of my palms and making them bleed. 

"They said the devil of the shield unleashed a monster sealed in the centre of a town. Then you used the devastation as a distraction to kill Itsuki and Ren. With the axe hero dead, there was nothing to hold you back so you went on to murder two of the four remaining heroes! Now, three of them are gone!" Myne explained as I snapped. I had had enough. I marched forward and now stood in front of Naofumi. 

"Naofumi..... I'm sorry..... but.... I just can't take it anymore. Please... let me say what I have to say." I asked him as I looked behind me to see him give me a nod. 

"You say it is us who are the ones that are lying!? You say it is us who killed Itsuki and Ren!? Why should we believe you when you've been the ones deceiving us all this entire time!?" I roared as Myne just giggled. 

"Silly demi-human. What ever could you be referring to?" She asked me as I looked back to Alex. He gave me a nod and climbed into the carriage. 

"After the second wave, it was declared that the axe hero, Ayuma Saruwatari was dead! But we found her alive! She was enslaved and tortured beyond despair! And you were the ones with her at the end of the wave! You captured her and did all this to her!" I roared as I pointed behind me to Alex who was now holding Ayuma. Both Motoyasu and Myne looked utterly shocked and couldn't form any words. 

"And you call us the liars? Why would you tell everyone that she died and then imprison her, just to torture her!? She could've died, and then we wouldn't have been able to defeat any more waves! But, with everything you did to her, she's now in a hopeless situation and may never wake up again! You did all this to everyone, even yourselves! You're the reason we won't be able to defend anyone now!" I shouted as I saw Myne began to clench her fists. 

"The cat's out of the bag now, so stop lying to us! You're the one who killed Itsuki and Ren, aren't you!?" Naofumi asked Myne. 

"Enough of this! It's time we battle!" Myne shouted as she began to cast a spell from her hands. I quickly looked back and saw Alex put down miss Ayuma back into the carriage before he and the rest of our friends came in closer to fight. 

Myne used her spell to create a ball of electricity that hovered abve us all. And then, a fence of lightning appeared around all of our parties trapping us inside. And the carriage that miss Ayuma laid in was stuck outside. 

"This is an impenetrable field of lightning that will not disappear until one of us subdues the other." Myne explained as I cracked my knuckles. 

"Naofumi, i'll leave Motoyasu to you. But leave that red haired psyhotic bitch of a princess to me." I said as he gave me a nod. I kept my eyes locked on her as I stepped over near the side of the fence. Myne did the same, also not taking her eyes off of me. 

"That was an impressive bluff you pulled on me the last time we met. But I won't fall for your tricks again. And as for you finding the axe hero, it matters not. With what I was told from Idol, she's practically dead now. And i'll be happy to do the same to all of you! Zweit Hellfire!" Myne shouted as she launched a fireball at me. 

"Whirling Wind Shot!" I yelled as I fired a small tornado from my hands that collided with her fireball. They seemed evenly matched as they resulted in an explosion that didn't phase either of us. 

"That armor of yours that you wear is very pretty. Too bad i'm about to break it so bad it'll look ugly. And by that, I mean your face." I said as my fists ignited into red flames. 

"Oh my, you're soooooo scary. But you're all talk! Now, die!" Myne said as she ignited her own fists in blue flames. We charged each other and interlocked our hands with each other, entering a shoving match. 

"I'll make you pay for doing all the harm you did to miss Ayuma!" I yelled in her faced as I tried to push her back. But she wasn't giving me any ground. 

"She was a monster and had to learn her lesson! If it my complete decision, then I would've had her be put down!" Myne shouted as she tried to knee me in the chest. But she missed and allowed me to push her back a bit. 

"Why did you do it to her!? Was it all because she followed Naofumi!? Because you say she tried to kill your father, the king!? Or was it simply because you didn't like her!? I bet that's what you do to everyone! If they don't agree with you, you just get rid of them and turn them into slaves!" I said as I kicked one of Myne's legs and forced her down onto one knee. 

"What's it to you!? At least she's still alive!" Myne shouted. 

"Did you not see her!? Because of you, she has fallen into a coma! She's practically in the same situation as Itsuki and Ren! Dead! And, it's all your fault!" I roared as I began to bend her hands backwards. 

"A little help here! Please, she's gonna kill me!" Myne yelled as the two other members of Motoyasu's party came to assist her. Both of them were mages and they aimed their attacks at me. 

"Zweit Air Shot!" They both yelled as the launched two balls of wind at me. I let go of Myne and jumped away before either of them could hit me, but it was now 3 against 1. 

"You're outnumbered! Admit it, this battle's won!" Myne declared as I extinguished my fists. I then raised both of them straight up into the air. 

"As source of thy power, I order thee! Decipher the laws of nature and rain down judgement on my opponents. Grand Bolt!" I called out as from my hands, a small bolt of lightning shot into the sky. Clouds formed above us and shot down an enormous thunderbolt. 

"Zweit Fire Shield!" Myne shouted as she swirled flames in a circle above her and her friends. The thunderbolt struck but it did not break through.

"As source of thy power, and as the next queen, I order thee! Decipher the laws of creation and bring down a rain of fire that will rain down and consume all of my targets! Zweit Fire Squall!" Myne called out as she launched a large ball of fire into the air. It despersed and began to rain down flames on all of us. 

"I order thee to nullify the rain of fire and keep our targets same from its flames! Anti-Zweit Fire Squall!" Both Melty and Alex yelled as they released their own magic, combining it into one and using it to shield us from the rain of fire. The combination of iron and water was enough and it allowed us all to continue fighting. 

"Sir Motoyasu, it's time!" Myne yelled to him as he gave her a nod. 

"Zweit Fire! Zweit Air Shot!" Myne and the other two mages yelled as they each launched their attacks over to Motoyasu. He held his spear straight up into the air and the three attacks struck it. They merged and combined their strengths into his spear as he prepared to use his devastating attack.

"Behold the power of a combo skill with fire, wind, and my spear!" Motoyasu shouted as he aimed his spear at Naofumi. 

"No! Your opponent is me, not him! I'll make you suffer the same fate as miss Ayuma!" I roared as he aimed his spear at me. 

"So be it, then!" He shouted as he pulled back his spear. 

"In order to defeat you, I call upon thy power my master gifted me! Black Demonic Flare!" I shouted as I unleashed the full force of my master's power. My hands burst into black flames, as did my hair, burning away my witches hat. I then put both of my hands together, pulled them back along my right side and began to charge my own attack. 

"As source of thy power, I order thee! Decipher the laws of nature and burn down all foes with the flame of the black demon!" I shouted as Motoyasu threw his spear at me. 

"Air Burst Flare Lance!" He roared as I thrusted my hands forward. 

"Deathly Hades Geyser!" I roared as I unleashed a massive stream of flames. Our attacks collided and shock waves of wind and flames began to ensue, threatening both sides. 

"Damn it, you're just like Ayuma, a monster!" Motoyasu yelled as I began to scream at the top of my lungs. My eyes burst into flames as my flame geyser grew even larger. 

"I am like my master, miss Ayuma! I am a warrior who protects all and defeats those who choose to harm! You made the ones I love suffer, so now you shall share in their pain!" I screamed as my attack began to push back his spear. 

"No, it can't be! She really is a monster!" Motoyasu cried as I stopped his attack, sending his spear flying and engulfing him, and all the rest of his party in my massive black flame. 

"This is the pain miss Ayuma felt when you captured her! And tortured her!" I roared as I increased my power, making the flame even larger. But, as I wanted to keep pouring more and more into this attack, I was stopped by Naofumi as he placed his right hand on my shoulder. 

"Neela, that's enough. You can stop now." He calmly said to me as I extinguished all the flames. Motoyasu and his party had all fallen to their knees or laid flat on the ground. Each of them were smoking heavily from my attack. And even though they were beaten, there was one last thing to do. 

I began to walk directly to Myne who trying to stand up. However, her legs were shaky and she fell back down to her knees. She noticed me walking towards her and became frightened. 

"No, stay away from me, you monster! I'm sorry for what I did, I swear!" She cried as I ignited my right hand in my black flame. 

"I'm so terribly sorry for my actions, and i'm sorry for what I did to the axe hero! She didn't deserve it, I just wanted her out of the way! I'm sorry!" Myne said as I now stood in front of her. I pulled my arm back and closed my hand into a fist, preparing to strike her down. 

"Please, i'll do anything!Spare my life, please! Just don't kill me!" Myne pleaded as I sighed and extinguished my fist. Myne sighed in relief when I did that. 

"Oh my..... thank you! I'm so sorry. Thank you for spar-" She tried to say as I drove my fist into her face, driving it straight down into the ground. 

"Myne, no! Neela, you witch! You can't do that to her, she's a princess!" Motoyasu yelled to me as I stared over to him with an intimidating gaze. 

"BITE ME!" I shouted to him as he became frightened. 

"Now that..... that was a nice punch." Naofumi said as he came over and patted me on the head. Myne got back up to her knees and slowly crawled away from us. Her nose was bleeding and she had a nasty black eye on her left side. 

"Damn it! You haven't upgraded your classes and yet, you're all so strong! Does your brainwashing shield increase your power, too!?" Motoyasu asked. 

"While you and your party were off playing superheroes, we've all been out here doing the grunt work to clean up after you and acquire new skills." Naofumi explained. 

"Liar! Do you honestly expect me to believe that's the truth!?" Motoyasu asked as Naofumi sighed. 

"Believe it or not, it is the truth. We do what we have to do, no matter how trivial it may seem. That's why you lost to us! Now give it a rest, Motoyasu. It's your turn to listen to me." Naofumi said as Motoyasu turned his head away. 

"Doesn't matter. If I don't avenge Itsuki and Ren, then poor Raphtalia, princess Melty, Filo and everyone else will never be free. They'll always be the devil of the shields prisoners! And I can never accept that! Not as long as I live! Cause i'm the spear hero!" Motoyasu declared. 

"Yes, sir Motoyasu, fight until the end. Bring me the devil of the shields head and free my dear sister and brother from his clutches." Myne said to him as I reached down to her and pulled her up by her hair. 

"Should I burn it all away?" I asked Naofumi. But, as I said that, something strange began to occur. There was a weird feeling in the air and an odd new odour. It smelled like something burning. 

"What? All the soldiers have left their post." Raphtalia said as we looked past Motoyasu and his party. She was right, they were all gone. And then, suddenly, Filo dashed around to every member of Motoyasu's party and she kicked them all over to us, gathering them together. 

"What was that all about, Filo?" Naofumi asked her. 

"Master, bring up your dark shield, quick! And a bunch of other shields, too! If you don't, then all of us are done for! There's no time to waste!" Filo shouted as we all just stood there, confused. 

"What're you talking about?" Raphtalia asked her. 

"Hurry up! Do it, now!" Filo screamed. Naofumi seemed to listen to her as he broght forth his curse shield. 

"Shield Prison!" He yelled as all of us, even Motoyasu's party became engulfed in the thick steel ball prison. 

"We need more! Up above us!" Filo shouted as Naofumi listened. 

"Air strike shield! And second shield!" He shouted as we could see, from a small hole in the shield prison, that two of Naofumi's large green glowing shields appeared above us. But something else was worrying me more than what was coming. 

"Naofumi, miss Ayuma is still in the carriage outside the lightning fence! She's completely defenseless! You have to summon a shield for her as well!" I said as he gave me a nod. 

"Second.... shield..... prison!" He yelled as I could see the carriage become surrounded by the steel ball. 

"Whatever's coming, I pray that that is enough to protect her!" I thought as an intense light began to shine through the cracks of the prison. 

"Here it comes!" Naofumi yelled as the ground around us began to shake wildly. Through the cracks of the prison, we could see a colossal beam of golden light blasting down from the sky. It effortlessly broke through both of Naofumi's air strike shield and then crashed onto our shield prison. Our defense was beginning to break apart fast. But Naofumi prepared himself by raising his shield up into the air, holding it flat up to the sky. And when the prison broke, the light came down on his shield. 

"Naofumi roared with strength as he was doing everything in his power to stop the attack with just his shield alone. The light surrounded us as our vision became purely white. It was so intense that I just had to shut my eyes. But everything went silent when the light disappeared. I slowly opened my eyes and saw everyone was still in one piece. Even Motoyasu and his party were okay, sadly. 

We all now sat in a massively deep crater, about 80 feet wide. I looked over to the carriage and saw half of the shield prison that covered it was destroyed. But, the other half which was not struck by the light was still in tact. And, thankfully, the entire carriage was in one piece, meaning miss Ayuma was safe. Her and the carriage were just outside the crater, sitting on the top of a hill. 

"Is.... everyone..... alright?" Naofumi asked as he dropped to his knees, breathing very heavily. 

"Yeah.... we're all okay." I said to him, a little frightened at what had just occurred. 

"What was that? Myne, do you know what just happened?" Motoyasu asked her as she looked terrified. 

"That power couldn't possibly have come from..... No.... It can't be....." She said as someone began to clap in the distance. On the opposite side of the crater from where miss Ayuma laid, a person stood at the edge of the crater. I recognized who it was immediately. 

"Truly remarkable. You just took judgement head on, an exceedingly powerful group ritual. And yet, you're still standing. I'd expect nothing less of the shield hero." The pope said as he stopped clapping. 

"It's the pope!?" Melty questioned. 

"I know you. From the cathedral in the capital!" Naofumi said. 

"Oh, so you remember who I am, do you? Then surely you're aware of all your sins, as well?" The pope asked Naofumi. 

"My sins?" Naofumi replied. 

"God bestowed holy water upon you and yet you refused to show him gratitude for that most righteous gift. You also deceived the people and led them to turn on their own country. You must be punished. I shall purify you in the name of god! Your transgressions will plague this land no more!" The pope declared. 

"How dare you, pope Balmus! Do you realize what you've just done!? You very nearly killed the next queen with that attack! And the spear hero as well!" Myne shouted to him but the pope didn't seem to care. 

"The spear hero and his party, including the princess, were murdered by the devil of the shield. At least, that's the story that the world will be told. As far as god is concerned, your all dead, already." The pope explained. 

"What is this? Myne, can you explain what the hell he's talking about?" Motoyasu asked her but she gave no answer. 

"And if the lives of those who have been marked for death do finally come to an end, that means all is right with the world. Everything shall be as god desires it to be." The pope stated. 

"This man's completely insane!" I thought to myself. 

"Oh, but don't worry. We have a plan for a new government to take the royal family's place." The pope explained as Myne became furious. 

"What are you!? That's ridiculous! This country's always been ruled by royalty! Our family are the only ones fit to-" Myne tried to say but the pope interrupted her. 

"Abuse your power and disrepect the church, look down upon the apostles of god himself, not anymore! This country doesn't need such blasphemy! Royalty? You're a pestilence. And the same applies to you heroes. We worship those who save the world and its people from waves but this bunch has done more harm than good. For instance, the spear hero released a sealed monster upon the world. The sword hero caused an epidemic. And the bow hero ignored his duties, choosing instead to serve himself." The pope listed off as it was all sadly true. 

"Heroes who bring devastation to the country and damage the peoples beliefs are truly nothing more than impostors." The pope said. 

"But, I.... I only did that because I wanted to help! Ren and Itsuki were trying to help too, and you think they were just impostors!?" Motoyasu questioned. 

"Your arrogance and foolishness speak volumes, just as theirs did when they decided to investigate matters far beyond their station. Therefore, they forced gods judgement to fall upon them!" The pope explained, revealing the horrifying truth. 

"What're you talking about? Hey... wait a second! You mean it wasn't Naofumi who killed them!?" Motoyasu asked as the pope just began to laugh. 

"This farce has been entertaining but that's enough!" He said as he reached out his right hand. A servant appeared next to him and handed him an object that all to familiar to all of us. It was the sword hero's..... Ren's sword. 

"The false spear hero, the demon of the axe, and the devil of the shield who cling to life so desperately as if they were cockroaches, shall be purified with holy judgement! And, this country shall finally be given righteous order!" The pope said as he raised the sword up as it began to glow with powerful magic. 

This was a dire situation. If what the pope said was indeed true, then two of the five cardinal heroes, Ren and Itsuki, were both dead.
