Chapter 8

I had large claws and crooked, pointed fangs. My eyes were red and I was taller than all of them even if I was sitting. I also had saliva dripping from my fangs. I probably seemed like a nightmare to them.

"Stay back!" The mom yowled.

I sat still, wondering what would happen if I just sat here the whole time. I slumped over, getting bored.

The little girl and little boy were crying to their parents.

"You can't pet that monster! We've got to call the cops!" The mom cried.

The kids were crying. "But it's cute! I wanna pet it!" They cried.

I sighed. Why was everyone afraid of me? I sighed slightly and slowly walked towards them, my tail dragging across the ground.

The little girl and boy looked at me with pure terror now! The huddled close to their parents.

I felt sadness wash over me. I just walked over to them anyways and stopped in front of them. I stared them in the eyes. I didn't know what would happen if I put my head near their hand. I didn't exactly try it either.

The little boy reached out with a shaky hand. His hand finally reached my head and he kept his hand on my head. I sat still.

The boy started stroking my head slightly. The parents seemed a bit calm now. Then after a while they all pet me. It felt good to be stroked again. I then heard a loud growl from the bushes. A huge bear stepped out, growling. The humans huddled together in terror.

"I'll kill you for being in my territory!" The bear growled.

I growled slightly. "They didn't know this was your territory," I pointed out.

The bear turned to me. I then lunged at it as it took a step toward the people. I easily overpowered it and knocked it over, my claws sinking into its flesh. It was on its back now. I was on top of it, my claws stuck in the flesh of its shoulders.

"Please," the bear whimpered.

"No!" I roared. I clamped my jaws around its neck and smelled the sweet scent of blood. I got off the bear when it stopped thrashing. I actually felt my belly growl. I tore out a chunk of flesh from its chest and gulped it down, then tore off another chunk and gulped it down too. I was full now.

I turned to those humans and saw them shaking with fear but they seemed to be a bit calm that I'd killed the threat. I turned around and then started heading into the thick part of the forest. I then stopped in my tracks when I heard them whine.

"Why do you want to go?" The kids cried.

I felt annoyed. "I have someone else to be with!" I roared. They didn't understand what I said, but I must've made them scared because the kids cried and the parents had angry expressions on. I turned back around and ran, anger ripping through me. Why did I just leave them there, being mad at me for no reason? I turned back around and lunged at the kids. My claws sunk into their chests and they thrashed wildly. I felt kicks in my side but ignored them. I felt like killing all humans on this rotten planet! Then everyone would call me their king. I leaped into the air and slashed the dad's chest. Where had the mom gone to? I sniffed the breeze. Fear scent, in the other direction of the path. I turned and saw her. A finger sticking out of a bush. I sensed her presence. Wait... why was I doing this? I looked at the dead kids and the dead dad, feeling anger and sadness. Well, I thought... I can't go back from doing this...

Girl POV:

I couldn't sleep. Ebony could never be beside me again. A year had passed since they had taken him from me. It felt lonely being here all alone. I thought I'd never see him again. I'd been depressed lately. To much work to deal with, drama, and other stupid stuff. I had nobody that I could relax with. I had to move because I no longer trusted that neighbor that I had. I decided that I'd get out of this messy bed and watch some tv. I turned it on the news channel. They usually had something interesting.

"A full grown Indoraptor had escaped from its facility, and the people working there have been killed. Most survived the creature's angry attack, but the scene was gruesome," The reporter stated.

My heart lifted.
