Mariam....

Aliza called out for her best friend excitedly. She rushed to her and hugged her. Mariam smiled slightly and hugged her back.

Mariam pulled away from the hug and looked at her.

Kaisi ho?

Mariam asked softly with a small smile.

Hum bilkul theek hain. Tum batao tum kaisi ho?

Aliza asked holding her by her shoulders.

Pata nahi Ali ke jaane ke baad zindagi bahot khali si lagti hai.

Mariam thought

Hum bilkul theek hain.

Mariam said with a soft smile coming out of her thoughts.

Kya soch rahi hain aap?

Mariam asked as she saw Aliza lost in thoughts.

Kuch nahi bas apni mohabbat ke khayalon mein ghum thy.

Aliza said with a soft smile.

Mariam smiled hearing her.

Acha toh bataya nahi kabhi unke bare mein aapne?

Mariam asked as they both walked towards the chamber.

They both sat on the bed and Aliza looked at Mariam.

Hum 3 mahine pehle mile thy unse. Kasam se Mariam aisa humein kabhi kisi ke liye mehsoos nahi hua.

Aliza said smiling dreamily.

Sirf 3 mahine mein?

Mariam asked.

Mariam woh jitna acha hai na kisi se bhi usse pyaar kiye bina raha nahi jayega.

Aliza said smiling dreamily.

Acha theek hai maan lia baba. Chalo ab hum bachon ko dekh kar aate hain.

Mariam said. She stood up and was about to walk out but stopped hearing Aliza,s question.

Kiske bache?

Hai koi khaas insaan.

Mariam said smiling. She went towards the children,s chamber and saw Gulrez sitting on the bed hugging her knees. Mariam sighed and walked to Gulrez. She sat beside Gulrez and stroked her hair. Gulrez looked up with teary eyes. Mariam's heart broke. She wiped Gulrez,s tears and cupped her face with her hands.

Gulrez.

Mariam called out softly. Gulrez sniffed.

Baba meri wajah se chale gaye na? Main achi bachi nahi thi.

Gulrez cried. Mariam shook her head sideways and pulled her in a hug.

Aisa nahi hai Gulrez. Aap Imaad, Alifi, Poya, Nafi sab bahot ache bache ho. Aur rahi baat Ali ki toh woh bahot jald wapas aa jayenge. Ab so jaiye thodi der ke liye.

Mariam said softly trying to give hope to Gulrez along with herself. She kissed the top of her head. Gulrez smiled and kept her head in Mariam,s lap. Mariam smiled brightly and patted Gulrez to sleep. Once Gulrez slept, Mariam gently placed her on the bed and kissed her forehead. She tried to control her tears and rushed out  towards her chamber. She entered her chamber and rushed towards the balcony covering her mouth with her palm. Tears rolled out her eyes as she sat back on the sofa and buried her face in her knees.

She looked up inhaling a shaky breath.

Ro kyun rahi ho Marjina?

Mariam heard Ali,s voice. She looked besides herself and saw him smiling at her.

Yaad kar rahi ho mujhe?

Ali asked her with a smile.

Wapas laut aaiye Ali.

Mariam pleased. Ali cupped her cheek and stroked the back of her hand. He smiled at her and covered her eyes with his palm. She opened her eyes and stood up. She looked around and sighed as she realized that she was daydreaming again.

Later!!!

Alifi, Poya, Nafi, Imaad kya hua? Aap sab itne pareshaan Kyun hain?

Mariam asked worriedly as she ran towards the children who were looking confused yet worried as ever.

Dadi pata nahi subha se kuch babada rahin hain. Pata nahi humein fikr ho rahi hai.

Alifi said worriedly.

Alifi pursukoon ho jaiye kuch nahi hua.

Mariam said. She rushed towards Dadi,s chamber.

Dadi.

Mariam called out, worry visible in her voice.

Dadi opened her eyes and breathed deeply. She looked at Mariam sharply.

Woh laut aaya hai.

Dadi said giving Mariam a sharp look. Mariam's heart skipped a beat. Her heart knew that whom is dadi taking about but she decided to confirm it first as didn't want to keep false hopes.

Ali

Mariam asked in a hushed voice wanting to confirm trying to control her racing heartbeats.

Haan Ali laut aaya hai.

Dadi confirmed her doubt and Mariam's heart stopped beating for a moment. She tried to blink away her tears and held Dadi,s hand firmly.

Sach?

Mariam asked again scared that it might be an illusion.

Haan. Per....

Dadi stopped in between.

Per kya dadi?

Mariam asked keeping her hand over her heart as tension laced her eyes.

Dadi looked behind Mariam. Mariam followed her gaze and saw her looking at the children.

She was about to say something but stopped hearing voices.

Yeh toh Ali ki awaz hai.

Mariam said. She ran following the voice.

She stopped for a moment and saw Ali running through the white curtains. She ran behind him and they reached the garden. Ali stopped breathing heavily.

Mariam was breathing heavily. She smiled shakily, her heart raced. She gulped the huge lump that formed in her throat.

Ali.

She whispered and covered her mouth with her palm and gulped back her sobs. Her heartbeat doubled.

He turned around and smiled brightly. Mariam felt as if she has got her life back. Her whole body shivered, she felt an unknown happiness inside herself. Tears of happiness clouded her eyes.

Mariam ran towards him.

Aa gaye aap?

Aliza said unable to control her happiness, she ran to Ali and hugged him tightly. Ali hugged her back.

Mariam stopped with a jerk and stambled backwards.

Are aram se.

Ali said to Aliza with a soft smile.

Mariam eyes held hurt. She took a step back covering her mouth with her palm. Her heart broke seeing him with someone else but she gulped the huge lump in her throat and took slow yet heavy steps towards them controlling her emotions.

Aliza pulled away from the hug.

Are Mariam...

Aliza said seeing Mariam coming towards them. She smiled interlocking Ali,s fingers with hers.

Ali and Mariam stood in front of each other. There was a beautiful smile playing on Ali,s lips while Mariam,s eyes held hurt but she still smiled.

Yeh kon hai?

Ali asked throwing a bomb on Mariam. Her heart stopped beating for a moment thinking the worst thing possible.

Yeh shehzadi Mariam hain. Kabul ki Rehnuma. Abhi taaj poshi nahi hui iss liye.

Aliza said with a smile.

Note: I remembered: Kabul ki rehnuma. Ali baba ke dil ki dhadkan shehzadi Mariam.

Back to the story.

Ali smiled at her. Some blurry flashbacks played in his mind

Marjina

Ali whispered.

Ali kahan kho gaye.

Aliza asked worriedly. She shook him lightly. Ali held his head.

Kya hua?

Aliza asked looking worriedly at him. He shook his head sideways.

Kuch nahi bas kuch dhoondli tasveerein aa gayi ankhon ke samne.

Ali said giving her a small smile. Aliza cupped his face looking at him. Mariam looked at the other side wiping a tear that rolled up on her cheek.

Aap theek hain na?

Aliza asked. Ali nodded in positive.

She called rahim and Rahim took Ali to his chamber!!!
