Mariam,s heart was beating faster than ever. Ali cupped her face and moved closer, his breath fanned her face making her close her eyes in anticipation. He moved ahead and his hot breathes fell on her lips making her shiver. He looked at them for a moment and leaned in. The sound of thunder rumbling made them jump and Ali came back to his senses. He realized what he was about to do and removed his hands from her face with a jerk and stepped back.

Ali said stepping back. Mariam,s heart broke and tears blurred her vision. He was about to go away but Mariam held him by his upper arm and made him turn swiftly. She held him by his shoulders and looked at him painfully.

Mariam asked, her voice was laced with hurt holding him by his collars.

Mariam said shaking her head sideways. She removed her palm from his mouth. She creased his cheek with her thumb and kissed his forehead He looked at her. She chuckled bitterly seeing his expressions and moved towards his ear.

Mariam whispered brokenly, questioning him.

Ali looked at her in regret and left from there without looking at her.

She fell on her knees and let out a heart wrenching scream and burst into tears.
