Mariam screamed as she woke up with a jolt breathing heavily. Sweat dripped down her forehead, she tried taking deep breaths trying to control her racing heartbeats. She got up from the bed and walked slowly towards the balcony. Wind was blowing fastly it was cold outside but it didn't affect her even a little bit. She sat on the sofa and breathed deeply in the cold air of winters.

She came out of her thoughts and stood up. She walked towards the reeling and took a shaky breath. A lone tear escaped her eye. She turned around and went back to the chamber. She sat on the bed and looked up towards the ceiling.

She went towards the childrens,s chamber and sat besides them.

Mariam called out as she patted their heads to wake them up.

She went towards the children,s chamber and saw them ready.

Mariam said faking a smile as she saw tears in Poya,s eyes.

She came near Poya and sat besides him and pulled him in a side hug.

Mariam asked knowing the reason well but she wanted Poya to open up to her.

Poya cried. Mariam,s eyes got teary seeing the child,s longing. She wiped his tears and pulled him in a tender hug.

Mariam tried to console softly as she rubbed Poya,s back. Poya wiped his tears and stood up.

Iss liye ab Poya bilkul nahi royega.

Poya said wiping his tears. Mariam smiled and patted his head lovingly.

Gulrez, Nafi, Imaad, Alifi doodh pi lijiye ab.

Mariam said. She picked up Gulrez and made her sit on her lap and passed the glass of milk to her.

Everyone drank the milk and went to study.

Mariam met dara gazi to discuss something.

Mariam sat on the bed. She closed her eyes and let herself fall back on the bed. She sighed tiredly.

She turned herself to his side looking at his face.

Kahan chale gaye aap Ali?

Mariam asked, her eyes tearing up slightly. She knew that it's an illusion and will vanish in just a blink. She tried not to blink her eyes and raised her shivering hands to touch his face. He shook his hand sideways before she could touch him a tear rolled down her cheek as she blinked her eyes and he vanished. She tried to blink away her tears.

Yeh kya kar dia hai aapne Ali? Kyun hum aapke bare mein sochne se khud ko rok nahi pa rahe? Na jane yeh kaisa ehsaas hai?

Mariam thought as she stood up and went to look for the children.
