Part 1

Tom, a Chicago detective was reading the morning newspaper, drinking a cup of coffee when Dianna walked into the kitchen.

"There is a big newspaper article about the ruby necklace jewelry heist from the museum last week.  The museum is offering a $10,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and capture of the jewel thieves.  I should be pretty busy when the leads start pouring in."

Tom got up and kissed Dianna goodbye.  Saying he would be home late.

Dianna scanned the newspaper article.  Then she touched the ruby necklace safely hanging around her neck hidden by the high neckline of her sweater.  If only her husband knew.

This was not the first time she had stolen.  It started almost a year ago after their 18th wedding anniversary.  Her first job was to steal a $10,000.00 diamond ring from a jewelry store.  She wasn't a thief so she bought the ring using her credit card and gave it to the crime syndicate.

Her contact upon realizing there was no police report regarding the ring was furious.  "You think this is some kind of a joke?  You're going to be given small jobs to perfect your skill.  Till we say you are ready for the ultimate job.  If I don't see a police report on the next item we tell you to steal we will make good on our promise."  He raised his hand to slap her but changed his mind.  "You're lucky the big boss likes you" he screamed at her.

She couldn't tell her husband what she was forced to do.  There was a mole in the police department and one wrong word, one wrong look and he would be eliminated.  She couldn't let on what she was doing until she found out exactly who she was dealing with.  She knew if she told him he would confide in those he trusted in the department but if he made the wrong choice it would be fatal.

All she had to do was find out who was blackmailing her and get the necklace to him.

How hard could that be?
